My theory is that Wonka either did research on those kids when he saw them on TV, or just accidents that happened naturally because of the kids' flaws
Perhaps, but I think he's also good at the Sherlock scan, writing off the other kids as fake and irredeemable in seconds.
I always thought it was rigged in favor of Charlie in the original and this one.
The authors widow was Executive Producer, so yes, this IS the real version.
The question about trash thrown into the garbage chute by the Oompa-Loompas is explained in the book: "Who eats fish here?" Wonka: "I do, of course. Didn't you think I live on chocolate?"
Also, in the book the bad kids are slightly different, being modernized in the movie: Violet is not an over-achiever, but only likes chewing gum too much (the thing is that at the time when the book was written, chewing gum was considered to be a VERY bad manner), and Mike Teavee was a fan of TV, especially action movies with lots of shooting and killing. Say, those are some examples of bad parenting
Many people don't understand that this is a story about bad parenting, and this is Willy Wonka's way of punishing bad parents and kids.
And Deep Roy as the Oompa Loompas is awesome. I enjoy their songs in this one more than the original.
More importantly, it is original songs and different genres of music to each child which is even reflects the personalities of each child.
While the old one had just the same melody just different texts to each child

Lol Roald Dahl is not only the author of Matilda, but also of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He writes pretty great books.
This movie is different from the book from what I remember, especially with the Wonka interpretation. And the new Wonka movie is not supposed to be a direct prequel, it stands on its own and it’s pretty great:)
Actually, according ro Roald Dahl's widow, this movie is closer to the book than " Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory " except the Wonka's interprétation like you said

Love this movie. I still prefer the original but like this one a lot. Johnny Depp is so good. Grandpa Joe still bugs me. Dudes been bedridden for years unable to help with anything but a free trip to a chocolate factory? Oh watch me dance.

To be fair, it's also exactly what happens in the book, and personally I've interpreted it as a sort of mental health sort of issue. Seeing the one thing he wanted most in front of his eyes gave him the energy to stand up on his own two feet again.
@@thesaltgod yeah. That’s what I like about this version. It’s more accurate to the book. And yeah I read to much into things. Just the entire four people being bed ridden bugs me. And the idea that his legs could support him at all after years of not being used.

Eh, the siblings ! It's being a long time since " The Corpse Bride " but I hope you're going well despite the situation.
Trust me, it's not the worst movie to see without wanting to eat. The one is " Ratatouille " where you discover the food of my country, the France.
I read on Internet that's thanks to Johnny Depp if Freddie Highmore had the role of Charlie. The two played in the movie " Finding Neverland " counting the story of J.M Barries, the author of " Peter Pan " (you should see it if it's not done yet) and Johnny was very impressed by Freddie's performance so he recommanded him to Tim Burton.
And you're right Ayala, Freddie is so cute 😍 I confess having a little crush on him.
Apparently, the first scene where Willy Wonka bumps into the elevator was an accident because Johnny Depp didn't see the door was closed and the second one for pretending the first wasn't an accident (note the difference of times it took him for standing up).
Also, a very cute and sad fact : the scene with all the newspapers on the wall of Willbur Wonka is inspired by a moment of Tim Burton's life. He came to visit his dying mother which who he was mad and discovered she did the same with all his movies

This one is way better. Can’t believe so many people are wonka fans and haven’t read the book. This is a book adaptation while the 1971 version was for a quaker oats wonka candy line which failed. Even roald dahl himself who wrote the book hated the 71 version.
@_weisser7891 He hated it for a number of reasons he didn't want Gene wilder , he didn't like the .music, he didn't like books turning into movies , he hated they changed the title of his book
