With vague memories of what's to come, our protagonist must find a way to manipulate the past to overcome the inevitability of his best friend's death. Damn, that was dark.
Can’t wait to see where this mod goes, especially with that incredible prologue.
They could go for the Salvation route where it becomes a story of the MC trying to help Sayori with her depression. A typical way they could go, but with how the prologue has presented itself so far, I’d be interested in it.
Or (a very weird thought I had but could lead to something interesting) Monika could be trying to do her ‘kill off Sayori and then reset without her’ thing, but every attempt she does, the MC ends up dying too. And since the MC is the only tether to the outside world, Monika wants to keep him alive. Almost like the Marvel What If? series did with the Strange Supreme episode with the whole “fixed point in time” thing, except Monika is trying to have Sayori killed without the MC dying too. Being a tether to the outside world, the MC begins to remember these events slowly but surely. Dunno how it’d end, but it was just a wild and crazy idea I had for absolutely no reason. Probably because I don’t like the whole “it was a dream/nightmare” deal.

My theory: Because of the crash, MC is in coma and this relieving the past thing is just the imagination created by his dying brain.

Good mod, I did a playthrough of it a while back, and talked to some of the mod developers. I can't wait to see the full release of it.

Somebody's been listening to the UP soundtrack, that music for Sayori's voicemail was so absolutely perfect.
Some writing hiccups here and there but this mod is looking good.

This is the original developer for Sayonara here. The description on the mods website is incorrect, since it was posted at an early state in development when the story direction wasn't set in stone. It was changed due to how it was too similar to the anime Erased, like you mentioned. It was also uploaded by a 3rd party, and I dont know who to contact to change the description to better reflect the actual story of the mod.
Our current story is, in my opinion, a lot better and vastly more original that what we had prior. The footage you watched is of the latest version of the prolouge, which has our current story in mind. We wont tell what it will be. 🤐

The mod was originally created by Smugie in 2019 but due to personal things he cancelled it. Team Insight (us) picked it up under Smugie's request, It is currently in development.

This is just the demo though so maybe the full release will be better, because in the description it says he has to try to prevent that from happening
