Only a select few will know the specialness of this band from the 2004-2008 era...
I think it started in 2006 with me.
Yes, yes!
I found Earthsuite, and followed them over :) Sadly I've never seen them live.
I saw them live in Denver during this time, opened for Mae. 😊
This is the song that made me absolutely fall in love with MM. Still listening to them daily in 2021!
I just discovered this group now in 2023, why I never heard before!? they are so great!!
havent watched these videos in years and have been going through so many of the live videos. Reminds me of my 2007-09 days in highschool :)
As an agnostic atheist I think it's silly that anyone would be bothered by christian lyrics sung by christians. These guys are talented as hell and bring the energy and passion and that's what it's all about. They don't seem like they're pushing their faith on anyone or being fake about it.
Jessie Armstrong they aren't pretentious in their faith 😀 I'm Christian and can't stand preachy music...
Loved them at 14 still love them at 24.
I miss this band so much!
“There is no better loss than to lose myself in you” 🤘🏻🎸💛🥰 🙏🏻 👼
I was at this show (filmed at the Tabernacle) and I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life
2021 and i miss Greg
Petition to bring them back...
2020❤ This song is evergreen. It's magical. I miss the old mutemath.
I totally agree, I feel like they were so solid when they first came out and their first self entitled album - Mutemath. I loved it. I miss em!
2021❤️
That was such a good concert. My friends and I went on a weekday in HS to see them play. As Tall As Lions was the warmup act. Their drummer broke his stick mid song and threw them in the crowd and hit my friend in the head lol. Good times.
Corky Lang used to bounce sticks of the cymbal and get them 30 rows back. Must have gone thorough 50 of them in one show.
One day I was walking to work through a beaten path, listening to this song was next up on the walkman, and i was thinking of Jesus on the cross. This song came on and i wept with great joy! It will aways be a heart song to me, bless the creators of such inspiring music. Bless them Father
Who's the creator?
heart song for sure.
dude they're so good it's almost unreal...that crowd was mesmerized...they've continually made phenomenal music...they're one of the greatest bands of my time...i hope they at least do three more albums before they pull the plug...they're definitely creating classics with every record
Autumn 2021. My dear Mutemath, you are always in my heart ❤️
i always love Greg's guitar playing. his delay and reverb uses were always on point with the songs. i dont dig the guitar work in their later songs after Greg left
He had a really cool textural style, I do like the new songs, but the old sound was really different, more whimsical, while now they are more in your face, riff stuff
I love the vocal he adds, too. They're all crazy talented. This album is one of, if not my all time favorite, albums. Musicality. Lyrical content. Peeps.
Remember when we could go to concerts?!?! What I wouldn't give to be at this one! Been singing this song to God for all of 2020 during this pandemic haha!!
I love it! Such a beautiful surrender!
Yes, this song is mesmerizing and dazzling time and again. Banished my blues, my head is floating in musical bliss.
Omg !!! On repeat 7yrs ago now so many memories
Definitely my favorite Mutemath song. Roy's bass sounds fantastic without a pick. I wish he did that more often.
Such a beautiful surrender YE YEEEEEE!!!
Shalalala 💕
SUCH AN UNDERRATED BAND! 😮 So talented, each of them.
My Favorite Mutemath´s song!
Beautiful! My favorite Mutemath's song
these guys had such great energy, as good as anyone out there.
These lyrics are so rich and beautiful.
I love you Mutemath!
bassist and drummer go off on this song... good rhythm.
Bass line is sick! Had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times . Off the hook.
No! The bassline is very very healthy and alive! 🙂
To me it never mattered if there a Christian band or not.. they just play great music with songs that you can relate to.. I could understand why they would sue cause the should be HUGE
Joaquin Acamapichtli yep, id like their music even if they were vegetarians
What a tight band. Gives me chills.
This song brings me to life
One of my favorite MM songs
You can't compare Mutemath to Coldplay. You can't compare them to anyone. Go watch them live, and you'll get it. Until then....
Take control of the atmosphere
Take me far away from here
There is no better loss than to lose myself in you
In a parachute to glide, I am captive in your sky
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
You can take my world, you can fill the air
Take control
Take control
It's such a beautiful surrender
Move me up through the darkest clouds
Till I've lost in the sun every shadow of doubt
There is no better find than to find myself with you
In a fog you are all I see
I'm inviting you closer with each time I breathe
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
You can take my world, you can fill the air
Take control
Take control
Take control
Take control
It's such a beautiful surrender
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
There's no reason I should breathe unless you're in the air
Take control
It's such a beautiful surrender
And I'm calling out
Would you take control?
And I'm calling out
SO EPIC! You can hear the U2 in there, but they still have a unique sound that isn't quite like anyone else. This band is an amazing example of building off of the great musicians that came before them while still finding their unique voice
Thank you Mutemath...I woke up with this song in my head
A musical masterpiece
This song is pure genius. Full stop. I can but revel in this spot on performance. I am jealous of everybody in the crowd who had a chance to witness perfection. You can feel every drop in your soul. How can you sit still while this song hits...... such a beautiful surrender indeed.
Simply brilliant. A fusion of Coldplay, Radio Head, and fun!
I just truly love my Mutemath. I got nothing else.
These guys must have practiced so much to perform this good live
this song reminds me of good things!
Talented bunch of guys right there 🔥🕊
Mutemath are legends
Who 2019?..
Me! I must have watched this hundreds of times and most of their other songs, especially the live ones....I can't believe how good live they are........I'm amazed by Mutemath....the band Coldplay really want to be.
it was so cool getting to meet them a couple years ago at Luna Music store... I'm a little embarrassed now cuz I completely geeked out when I met Paul and Darren. It was surreal but now i wish i had played it a bit cooler ha
Me too... got Paul and Darren to sign my Vitals vinyl. I was like a 13y/o fangirl
I LOVE THIS GOTDAMN SONG.
Absolutely amazing! I cried at the end. This band is my favorite . Stunning version of this song.
There is almost too much to be grateful for here. Four guys, brilliant venue, great lighting and staging playing a song of unimaginable quality. The quality of musicianship cannot be underestimated but if anything was stand out above the rest it's Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas sublime bass playing.
Best band ever man……. Love em
I really miss these guys. Regret not seeing them live when I had the chance.
love this outro! oh, that songs would last forever!!!
I really like his live voice
Mutemath is so amazing, they put Rock back center stage once again.
That's one of the best ideas I've ever heard...
One of a handful of great bands back than! Great songs and huge players, all of them.
Did they shy away from John Mayers and other ‘plastic peoples’’ succes? Don’t know.
They could kill Mayer and his bands (all of them) each and every time, in their sleep, live!!
That bassplayer and drummer were true beasts!
Best live band I never got to see live...
🖖
❤️Mutemath ❤️
Perfect.
Lovely! ❤
Love this song so much
2022 y no paro de escuchar esta música!
Gosh, the crowd looks like are having such a blast!! Please come to Miami FL!!!!!
+Elizabeth Faith Lauderdale in a week!
+Mark Bellan See you there!
music is a great gift. don't make it your god. praise the One who gave us the gift!. trust me, i have to remind myself of this all the time!.
Music's the closest thing I have to a religion. This song is pretty cathartic at the end.
WOW!!!! Excellent labor of love guys! Abba YAH, Takes Control Of The Atmosphere!!
HalleluYAH!!! Praise You YAH!!!
2020 y aún me gusta como la primera vez!!!!
'There's no better loss than to lose myself with you, Mutemath!' You are taking over my playlist now!
Waiting eagerly for the new album! Come back to DC
🤯el baterista es una chingoneria q grandes músicos
I have to agree, I wonder why a band like Mutemath isn't topping the charts. Way more talent than Coldplay or any other similar band out there.
Time for a reunion guys? C’mon.
Awesome!
Beautiful surrender indeed, this song!
UaU incrível!!!!
beautiful
the best!
I was there!
2023
今聞いてもほんとかっこいい
sick bass line, great live mix!!
Excelente canción, nos alegra el alma por toda la energía que transmiten con tan estupenda interpretación. Felicitaciones señores Mutemath...
Drummer Up front = Epic. #DrumWizard
Difícil que alguna otra canción tenga ese poder de transportarte a cualquier sitio con tal imaginación.
I know right Paul and Bono's vocals together would be pretty awesome. U2 is the best band in the world.
that snare though :D
2020
i can sense the Christian lyrics in their songs, especially from the first EP set where this song is from, its special to me as a fellow christian, but you know, i dont know why people have to always argue over it. Enjoy the song for its religious roots, or because it doesnt specifically reference God in the song, take it from another point of view. Just enjoy the music whether atheist or believer.
***** so thats your belief system? know that there are better ones
+Ryan B Lead singer said these songs are not related to religion at all. He's trying to avoid that kind of stuff completely after the failure of his Christian rock band, Earthsuit. He said that band basically taught him what not to do. Odd Soul is more related to their Christian upbringings but just in how eccentric their upbringings are.
Sammy102093 But in my opinion these songs on the album have alot of background reference to their faith. Plus i think its smart that theres subtleties in the lyrics and music which doesnt make it just "christian". Because so many people turn their heads just because something might be labelled christian music, such a shame.
I thought earthsuit was pretty meh, wasnt that great. I dont know much about the story though, why was it a failure?
Ryan B creative differences and marketing conundrums
Also, what you feel about the background isn't true, the background of the music depends on MuteMath. They try to avoid religious connotations in their music and even sued Warner for labeling them like that.
Sammy102093 interesting to know. I guess for me their first album just sounds so much like other christian type songs that it came off that way for me. Im not big into christian genre, regardless i love the way these guys do their guitar riffs, percussion, and melodies. You know when some new material will be released? they are still together?
My gosh...:)
i cannot wait to see you guys, im so gonna meet you all in australia in may haha
my names alex btw, and if it wasnt for you guys i probably wouldnt be playing music, or have a soul for music like i do now.
You guys have changed my life in so many more ways than just 1
and i wish words could only thank you for all that youve done for me :)
i swear that i am your biggest fan.
there isnt a day that goes by that i dont listen to all your albums.
cant wait to see you guys in aussie land!
Buddy. Coldplay isn't a tenth of the band Mutemath is.
Coldplay is 8 albums of Radiohead's High and Dry (done badly). Mutemath is three albums of talent and (mostly) new ideas.
Have your thoughts on this changed at all, nearly a decade later?
@@JabezGill only a bit. Voices in the silence I didn't love, play dead was okay. I still think eponymous/armistice/odd soul were near perfect and vitals was well executed. The decision to put Darren Kings literally untouchable drumming on the backburner was a bad one. I still don't care about cold play tho lmao
I am so happy Mutemath is Christian!! What a great, great band!
Make a new DVD !
Mutemath is incredible none the less. I love smaller bands like them that aren't widely popular such as Coldplay. I love how they are doing their own thing. I have to protect Coldplay though. They're incredible for how they've changed in the past decade. I do believe that Mylo Xyloto made them more of a hipster band however.
@helielde Yeheee Ohhhooo!
This is a fuckin banger
The 5:11 face sums it all up.
Coldplay has been around longer and people have more of a "prove it to me" attitude now than they did before. It seems that it's much harder to get people even friends to listen to music that they don't know already. Which is sad. : ( I'm guilty of it myself. It took me a while to get into this band but once I did they became one of my favorites and wish I gave it a chance earlier.
They should just do a collaboration album with U2. That would be sick.
I can't be the only Chilean who likes this :S
I can hear Coldplay, U2, Gary Numan and Pink Floyd in this.
@superviralman Nahhh they just make it look like its off cause theyre so friggn amazing like that, dont eva...say its off lol
cause its not true ;)
I have gived anything to be in this show...
