  • Here's a sweet vintage Hirobo Shuttle Z R/C nitro helicopter. These were released back in 1989 and this one still flies great today! I picked this up for a song on Craigslist a few months back and it was not in flying condition at all. I spent a few weekends going through it to get it to the point you see here. This Shuttle Z is powered by an O.S. 25 nitro engine and has mostly vintage electrics save for the 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver.

This brings back so many memories. My first heli was a ZX from 1989. So cool. Thanks for the video.

I have one identical to this Hirobo Z but it is the "ZX" in chrome gold lettering! Same colors & everything! Bought it in 1991 in Hong Kong comming home from Operation Desert Shield/Storm deployment in the Navy! It has no absolutely no hovering/ flight time on it at all & it sits on my computer shelf here at the house. I had to assemble the whole entire helo with the acception of the of the swashplate assembly! I bought an O.S. .032 engine powerplant with the pullstart start cord like on a push lawn mower! Thanks for sharing guys😃👍🏻!

Man the nostalgia to hear the gyro spin up!
Had a ZX that totally disintigrated from a boom strike on first flight, or rather landing, because I had set up the
pitch range wrong.... Well the bearings got to live on in the Shuttle Plus I got to replace it, I basically got a Shuttle + ZX
and it is still alive. :-) Haven't flown it for many years perhaps it is time? Nice to see the old bird up and about.

`That's a very nice shuttle in perfect condition. I thought my OS32FH was low power for a shuttle but a .25 takes it up too!

Thank you. I was surprised by the power as well. I have another Shuttle (a ZXX, video coming soon) with an Enya 35 in it and this OS 25 feels more lively.

How long did it take you to learn to fly. I just received a Hirobo Scedu 50.

I wouldn't say I've mastered it by any means, but I first spent a few hours on a computer simulator, then maybe 3-4 hours of actual real flying.

    Hello,
    unfortunately, in german.
Schönes Video. Die Pitsch/Gas Kurve passt nicht. Bei Pitsch plus oder minus darf sich die Motordrehzahl nicht ändern.
    Grüße aus Deutschland

But indeed, they were great flying machines...
