  • The Constellation Andromeda is one of my favorite ships. It can absolutely blast through VHRTs and can even do ERTs pretty consistently. In this video I take on a bunch of VHRT missions including the hardest VHRT of all time - 3 Hurricanes on a low population server where the AI is responding well.

    i would love to see an updated video of this from you. i love your style of videos. as of 3.19 the missle damage of this load out has been halved and the guns have been reduced by maybe 10%

      Thank you! I'm currently working on a few other videos right now but this definitely is in my backlog of videos to update, especially because I *love* connies. I have a slightly more recent Taurus video but I agree the Andromeda deserves an update of its own. One important thing to note with the missile damage nerf is that a majority of the missile damage now penetrates shields, so full volleys of missiles can potentially shut down enemy components, making the ship even more deadly.

      thanks! And yeah right now Size5 weapons are king! Any ship that can use them should. And the S5 cannons do a lot more dps than the S5 repeaters so that's what i'd recommend. Then, since the bottom two guns on the connie are only capable of being S4, i've kept them as cannons as well so that all the projectiles have the same speed (so you lead your shots the same for all your guns).

    WingZeroType, saw your old post on Reddit and commented on it before I realized it was you. Just to recap about the GLORIOUS CONNIE A - On 3.15 I have just got to ERT after 3 days in a Connie Andromeda on loan from CIG. It has been absolutely OUTSTANDING! 4 size 4 gimbaled Rhino's have made mincemeat of everything. I upgraded the quantum drive because the one it comes with runs on coal. I put in a Crossfield and a grade B Mil shield. Apart from killing everything including the Hammer Head and its escort on the ERT, it can be used for a good amount of early game trading and freight. I am well impressed. I hardly used the rockets THEREFORE the Connie Taiurus which is about 2.2M? has more cargo space, the same guns/firepower and doesn't have all the rockets I didn't need. I don't see how you can buy better early game. It has made me 2.3 M in 3 days doing bounties! I will now buy a prospector and get the cash to put a Connie A or T in my hanger for good. After that I will get an eclipse. As for the Connie A blasting through VHRT's, I did 20 in a row with zero damage to the Connie. Then my wife came in, disturbed me and I flew sideways into an asteroid :(. the divorce is next week :D

      hahaha I replied to your post on reddit without realizing that it was on the old post! That's what I get for replying first thing in the morning.
      It's probably a bit too late but as an FYI the Grade A shields will give you more HP and recharge than grade B shields, but at this point it might not be worth the incremental improvement over the grade B since the shields are 100k+.
      And yeah, the Connie Taurus is a fantastic ship. Buying the Andromeda in-game in 3.13 actually made me buy a Taurus with real money (which is only my 2nd ship). If you can get past the sluggish handling, I think its an absolutely amazing ship. I do like size 1 missiles so I would've gotten the Andromeda but it cost a bit too much real-money for me at the time.
      And FYI, you don't need to get a divorce, just get her to get you a ship ;)

      WingZeroType no no its not an old post - Only today 😊. When i was buying the shields the 80k difference between the B and the A was just too much. Think i will try a few days trading now and then get a fully pimped out prospector.

    Nice video. Thanks for creating it. Seems like this would be a good recommendation for VHRT missions. Could you do other videos of your ship recommendations for the other levels, VLRT, LRT, HRT, etc.?

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! And yeah this or any Constellation ship can do equally well at VHRT bounties. I just put out a video with a review of the Taurus, which has basically the same firepower but more versatility.
      I haven't done videos of any other types of bounties yet because pretty much any fighter can do VHRTs and that's the best way to make money in the game currently. For the lower difficulty of bounty, sometimes you're fighting the same ship, but just with less wingmen. And once it gets to the lower difficulty of ship, you actually just one-pass them with the same combat approach (flying decoupled, don't fly directly at your target, line them up and hold the trigger :D). If a few other folks end up asking for it though I'll definitely have to do something though!

    Quick question. Why wait to the shield to recharge on that last fight? Can you redirect the shield power to face forward?

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety

      so 2 things:
      1. This video was recorded was while I was playing on mouse/keyboard, and my keyboard doesn't have a numpad so I didn't have the hotkeys to change the direction my shields were focused.
      2. I'm actually not sure if you can take away shields from the other sides and immediately have them reinforce the front without having to recharge the additional shield hitpoints in the front, if that makes sense. It might be possible, but i haven't done it in combat yet. I have dual joysticks now, and i have the buttons mapped for shield direction so I'll have to try it out!

    Nice shooting! A question, why is there no snub fighter docked underneath? Doesnt the andromeda always come with one?

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety

      There's a good chance that it got blown off during combat, In 3.14 I found that it seems to often take damage and explode even if my shields aren't going down. I never quite figured out exactly why, and I don't have a connie in 3.15 to test it out more. But yeah it comes with it by default, and if you lose and reclaim the ship it'll come with one again!

    Hey man great video but I have a quick question. You mention a low pop server a few times with 20 or less people on it. What is the significance of this when it comes to doing bounties? I hear you mention "fighting 3 hurricanes but it's a low pop server so it's ok" and I just got confused.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey thanks for checking out my video and for the compliment. I'm not sure the context of the quote that you mentioned but a low population server doesn't really matter anymore in 3.16. Back in 3.14 when that video was made you'd often have to wait for bounty spawns, and on a low population server the server had fewer players to keep track of so it could do all the other things it needed to do faster - like spawning bounty targets and wingmen. This made low population servers better for quickly grinding out bounties, but also potentially made them more dangerous with spawning wingmen along with bounty targets. But like I said, now that doesn't apply anymore b/c with patch 3.16 bounty targets and wingmen almost always spawn in before you get to the mission objective and the AI is responsive too.

    • @WingZeroType

      Sorry about that! Must be due to an erkul update - Here's what I recommend for 3.16! www.erkul.games/loadout/hqDg9TOf
      EM missiles are the go-to now since all ships have big EM signatures and stealth isn't really viable so you just want to use whatever laser cannon you have around, I like Omniskys for their look. The grade A shields have more health and recharge than lower grades in 3.16 and the civilian shields are the cheapest so that's why I've fitted those.

  • @lilbippy7691
    @lilbippy7691 Před 2 lety +1

    Any reason you're using the lightstrikes over the omniskys?

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety +1

      back in 3.14 they reduced the ship's signature slightly. With 3.15 and 3.16, Omniskys are the better choice since they're cheaper and stealth was nerfed. I also discovered that the Connie's guns are realllyyyy not protected well and are a bit liable to get shot off in spicy engagements, so I wouldn't recommend the lightstrikes even if stealth came back because they just don't have enough component HP.

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety

      @@climbjak7 Hey so generally anytime I have a s5 hardpoint on a ship I go with laser cannons since they have a much higher dps than s5 repeaters. And then to match projectile velocities of all the weapons I fit the rest of the hardpoints with cannons as well. Generally on lighter/more maneuverable ships I like to use repeaters since they're easier to aim while you're aggressively maneuvering, but I'm going to try to mix and match a bit to see what feels good in 3.17 with the much harder bounty difficulty. I've also been using the ad5b and ad4b gatlings, which despite being gatlings still have the cannon projectile speed, so you generally use them with cannons to match velocities so you can aim all your guns together. It's nice because you have a much higher burst dps which can be really useful in securing kills on the main target and then running away from all the others. But you do end up having to pause every so often to repair.... but I haven't (yet) found a better way to effectively chain bounties back-to-back like we used to be able to in 3.16.1 :D

      @@WingZeroType Hey WingZero thanks for this video, it really opened my eyes up to how strong the Connie can be for grinding bounties. Just a quick question, which Connie would you say is best for bounties, and what setup would you go for currently in 3.17? If you have the time to say why as well I'd greatly appreciate it :) Thanks for the content once again

    • @WingZeroType
      @WingZeroType  Před 2 lety +2

      @@chilliforthewin Hey no problem, thanks for checking out my video! I'd say the constellation andromeda is best for bounties (due to having the most missiles), but they're all totally capable because they all have a healthy amount of missiles and those two size 5 + two size 4 hardpoints. For the size 5 hardpoints, i'd go with either laser cannons or AD5B ballistic gatlings, which have ammo worth roughly 2 mins of firing time. Some people have reported not being able to get into the Centermass elevators in Area18 so you might need to wait until patch 3.17.2 (which should be in a few weeks) to get the AD5B gatlings. If that's the case for you as well, then just stick with size 5 laser cannons. They all have the same damage stats so any of them will do but the Omnisky variant is cheapest. For the size 4 hardpoints you want to put laser cannons no matter what you used on the size5. So depending on your size 5s you might be fully-laser weapons or a hybrid setup like you can briefly see I'm using in the latest video here: czcams.com/video/ItBo2m81rN4/video.html
      For the shields the grade A shields are the best and all variants of grade A shields are the same, so I'd just get the civilian variants since they're cheapest. For the quantum drive any military grade drive will do. The grade A XL-1 is fastest but the lower military versions are *almost* as fast and you can save 20-30k aUEC. For size 1 missiles I like either the EM pioneers (which seem to hit most consistently) or the IR Arrow-Is, which have the highest damage potential. For the size 2 missiles, I'd go EM Dominators all the way. If you're curious about other ships as well, I maintain a list of my preferred loadouts in this google doc: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dtwkz8izPCwhwiaK5YbAVqr7x4P6ZNRHp_GaaEQrQHA/edit?usp=sharing
      I'm still working on testing things in 3.17 so not all the builds are fleshed out yet but the connie is in there :)
      Just remember that the connie is a slow, lumbering beast so you want to be sure not to zoom past your target. Instead you want to try to keep them at range as long as possible to maximize the amount of time you get a clean shot at them. And also I really like opening with a salvo of four missiles to start (especially if you have the andromeda since it comes with 52!!! misiles) I typically fire my EM missiles from about 4-5k away, and I fire my IR missiles from about 6k away. It seems to have worked best for me, but its not an exact science.
      The last thing I'll mention is that if things go wrong and your ship gets really beat up I've liked to just claim the ship. Go float near a pad (but not over it or on it) and just EVA back to the station to claim the ship. It'll repair and restock your ship for free, and helps prevent potential bugs that seem somewhat common with ship repair and restocking of missiles. While I wait for that, I'll typically fly one of my other ships, but that assumes you have another ship you can go fight in while you wait :)

Just select the ship you want to outfit and select the items for it and you'll see all the locations they're available and how much they cost. For the Size 5 laser cannons for the connies I recommend Omniskys currently and you can get them at Centermass in Area18 or New Babbage or at the ship weapons shop at HUR L3.
