Walking Through the Streets of Chisinau, Moldova
I showed much more of Chisinau and Moldova in my other videos. To see another side of the country, watch this video in which we drove out of the city to a winery in the countryside with one of the largest wine cellars in the world: czcams.com/video/Zf-EUwOl0UU/video.html
Orhei is also nice
If you're still in Chisinau, I can show you the city a little bit more).
@@arfecydonia.8382 Thanks for the offer. I'm now in Uzbekistan.
Interesting Video. But the wine cellar in that video is Cricova is the second biggest wine cellar in the world. The biggest wine cellar in the world in Moldova is Milestii Mici.

I see people in the comments giving Gabe a hard time for visiting a less touristy country, but come on! this is what traveling is all about, to see different places, people, customs! and honestly after a while, you get tired of seeing hordes of people, even in the most beautiful of places. Traveling should also be about new and different experiences, not just run of the mill beaches and old city centers.
@alexandra s - I agree. That is why I wonder why most travel vloggers who I follow never venture into Africa or South America.
I agree! I LOVE seeing the hidden gems....the less common places. I'm very tired of all the usual, touristy places--love to see something different. Even crumbling infrastructure is interesting, and seeing how people live in the "poorer" parts of the world. Yet they are rich in other ways.
Exactly! I too enjoy seeing his "off the beaten tracks" trips!
*@alexandra s* ~So very true; and, right you definitely are ({: D ...!
*@alexandra s* ~Hmmmm... : with our two 'screen names' - yours and mine - we should really consider opening some sort of business together, no ({; D ...?!
Lots of negativity in these comments. Come on! There are tons of videos out there "exploring" places that everyone has seen like Rome, London and Paris. What Gabriel is doing here, is what TRAVELLING is, and not just basic tourism! I visited Moldova last year and I only have great memories from Chisinau, Tighina, Chițcani and Tiraspol, all the people you meet, the culture, everything. It's an incredible experience!
How did you get in Chițcani 😂😂😂😂😂
@@nl2126 Hitchhiking
Got to say, I don't think it looks that bad (except the underpasses, they're shocking). The streets are wide and spacious, it's clean, lots of the shops and restaurants look quite modern and inviting.
The problem of Chisinau is not the lack of money or insufficient budget. Local authorities are extremely corrupted and don't give a shit. This city needs a good mayor.
Thanx dude!
Nowadays they fixed the lighting out there thanks to youtube publicity of such kind of videos
Moldavians have been leaving the country in droves for years. To hear them, it's not a great place to live, for many reasons the quality of life is poor.
Wow, this is incredible! I still can't believe you've decided to visit my country. Been watching your travels for a while now and it's kind of unbelievable, how on the background of going through a myriad of civilized and exotic coutries, here you are, eventually in our little "purgatory". I have yet to watch the full video, but I'm already sorry for any inconveniences you've experienced during your stay; infrastructure is really lacking and people can be really aggressive sometimes. Otherwise, I do hope that you take at least a grain of positivity with you from us, when you depart. Pleasant travels!
Maybe you could give Gabriel some tips. Certain area's he should visit, things to see, to do ... etc.
I had an awesome day today going on a wine tour with some locals. So I'll be showing a bit more of the country, but it was a short visit so didn't see as much as I would have liked.
*@R3adyPI4y3r1* ~That is so sincerely touching, what you wrote; you certainly are a very good ambassador for Moldova - and, a truly quite lovely person! I actually feel bad for you, and your compatriots, that you should find yourselves living in so apparently 'difficult' a place; hopefully your lives there will start improving greatly, *very* soon ({: D ...!!
Why would moldovans be aggressive ?
@@s125ish ...uhhh, b/c they're human ({: \ / ({; D ...?!!
Not many tourists go from Monaco to Moldova. That itinerary is not typical.

I visited Moldova in June and had a great time
This guy is so inspiring. Keep up the good work Gabriel

Ah Bald & Bankrupt! That’s where I’ve seen this place before! Another awesome channel!
Hi Bald and bankrupt
Tourists can be annoying but there’s a reason they’re there.. Some people act like they’d be more excited to see him traveling to gas stations in New Jersey
i was in Chisinau last month. What a neat place.Super tidy, cheap prices and great looking women everywhere.Friendly people and take a day trip to Transnistria.I totally recommend this place for a visit.I'll be back
You are hallucinating. Or dreaming. Aside from the “good-looking women” nothing else stands as true. Don’t con a conman
Way more interesting than those fancy islands and Western European tourist spots.
Let's be real, it's boring as fuck that's why nobody goes there. That's why bald and bankrupt made news headlines upon his arrival. Cheap is good, but there's gotta be something interesting. All the other Eastern European countries have something to show, unfortunately Moldova doesn't warrant a trip after watching his videos and bald's.
Chisinau has those lovely trolleybuses.
Southeastern Europe countries are better
Nahhhh, every single small village in Portugal loojs nicer...
The only interesting thing there is how poor and outdated the country is. You seem to have your mind drunk by some unfortunate event in Western Europe where the most beautiful places on earth lie.
Hi Gabriel, the subway is getting renewed due to Bald n Bankrupt video he strongly discussed that issue comparing with Soviet rule.. and it got an article on Moldovan paper . So, the govt started renewal work...
It seems great that u discussed about your vlogger mate... (Bald)😍
Moldova Has a New Government now.
Pasajul filmat de Bald e altul, tot in zona ceia, cu vreo 200 m mai in colo. O să-l renoveze și pe ăla cred 🙂
very clean streets
Looks like a good city to stay in your apartment and get some sleep.
So is UK. You moron.
6:50 "Не снимай" means "dont film"
They dont have any right to say that as its allowed to film in public
But they are local know-nothing dudes and playing tough machos
Like in jail
Армен Казарян, except he wasn't filming them dickhead
Angry Russian who knows nothing is reported, poniel Fiedia?
@Армен Казарян В Молдавий ты можешь снимать что и кого угодно на улице и в общественных местах. Конечно что во вход многих таких местах есть значок не снимать, но они нарушают закон и можно отправить жалобу.
@Армен Казарян if you do not film someone directly its OK.. I mean.. If you randomly film and there is someone's face in a Bush for example.. you must not censor it 😂😂

I am from Tirana and I see Chisinau optimistically. ! That avenue Gabriel showed to us is the widest ave I have seen in entire world! It needs a makeover but when its done it will exceed Champs Elise in beauty and width. To build such an avenue in Tirana where I live we need the entire state budget of a year for paying for the condemnation of properties, plus two new jails for people opposing taking their properties. On the negative side I did not like the attitude of those dudes against filming. Moldovans should appreciate people visiting their country and spending their money there. But otherwise I appreciate the unedited tour Gabriel gave us! I have heard they have good wines!
Always good to look at the bright side of things.
A little info for ya :D
The national language is Romanian in Moldova. Not Moldovan.
Regarding the pronunciation, when speaking in English and/or Romanian, the accent goes on the second syllable of the country's name. So it would be MolDOva.
The Russian speakers pronounce it the other way, with an accent on the first o of the firt syllable. So it would sound like this: MOldova. Sometimes you might even hear it with an "a" sound in it = MAldova.
The national language is MOLDAVIAN in Moldova.
GO to school and study more, dear...
@@Veaceslav-eo2gf Excuse me ??? Read the Declaration of Independence you moron !! And the decision of the Constitutional Court !!
The official National Laguage if Romanian, not the made up piece-of-shit pseudo-language the soviets invented named Moldavian.
How do ya know dat? Wow. Smoking too?
There are a lot of changes Moldova has experienced since 2011. From this video, I see so many new buildings and infrastructures ever since. Way to go, Moldovans! I miss Chisinau always!
Yep, lots of changes. All for the worse. Nothing good happened since. It’s still a shithole.
Brilliant vid Gabriel. I just love exploring Eastern Europe, especially as at the moment it’s so cheap to travel there and be there. Exploring the culture and environment is massive lesson in itself. Thanks a lot for these vids
6:45 These two gopniki should welcome tourist and act far more polite and educated. As for Moldova - been many times there as a tourist- great wine, delicious authentic food, it's cheap and women are pretty. Also the longest winery in the world plus some ppl monestries if you are into that .While in Chisinau -Visit the Cathedral Park and definitely go for a walk on "Eugen Doga" street. You will meet more tourist there. For food - I recommend La Placinte and Andy's Pizza. Enjoy :)
"Gopniki" 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those two are bidlanas who need their teeth massaged
Haha, Bald and Bankrupt is big now. In Moldova i think they speak Romanian and Russian. On the other side of the border in Romania there an area that is called Moldova. Keep on the good work.👍
TRAVEL ADDICT 81 Not just big, Bald is very very big now, with over 912K subscribers.
Yeah, u are right. We are Republic of Moldova but also in Romania there is a zone called " Moldova" ( in Romania there is 5 or 6 zones) but some locals and tourists use to say Moldava to both of them. That's why there is this misunderstanding
Yes, we speack both languages and even use a sort of dialect where we use words from both languages. This confuses the romanians to much because they dont know russian. Soviet influence on us can be felt even now, and before i came to Scotland and met here a lot of romanians i didn't knew about such differences between us, now i need to think carefully what i say because others sometimes can't understand me.
Looks like a miserable trip, Gabe. I know you are counting down the minutes til lift-off! Thanks for taking video even though it is a bit awkward.
sounds like you transferring yourself to him!
Looks a lot more interesting than the endless horizontal suburbia ugliness in Southwest US, talking about drabness.
maybe see some supermarkets and prices for typical items?
trip on bus public transport?
Marshrutky, or fixed-route minivans (also known by their Romanian name, maxitaxis), follow the same routes as the buses and are quicker.
Within cities, public transport costs 2 lei, while marshrutky cost 3 lei
2 lei equal 11 cents
Good idea. Next time I go back I'll plan to make a "How expensive" video for Moldova.
J actually, buses cost 3 lei
From what we have seen in the video, unfortunately I can't say that I'm impressed with Chisinau.
@Metsada007 - I also saw Bald & Bankrupts video of Moldova & I concluded that I have no desire to go there.

9:25 "my neck my back my..." what's the other lyric buddy? I think you accidentally cut it out :D
It's MoldOva, in any language! :)
and you can film as much as you want, there are morons anywhere don't listen to them, it doesn't mean filming is forbidden
No, it's not. When you're speaking Italian you say Moldavia, the same in Russian.
Like Andrew Fitz said, it's not. In german it is Moldawien or Moldau. In french it is called Moldavie, and in spanish Moldavia.
Can't say anything about Spanish and German, but I know for certain that Moldova in Russian is often used and it's not a mistake. French you say Moldavie? In my passport it says Republica Moldova/ Republic of Moldova/Republique de Moldova.
All the confusion comes from the difference between the Principality of Moldavia which is a historical region that includes modern Moldova and a part of Romania (except Transylvania and Wallachia) and can only be "traced" in translations because in Romanian language both halves of that principality are referred to as Moldova, in English the historical region is referred to as Moldavia and the country is called Moldova. So I guess whenever you're using anything with an 'a' instead of the 'o', it probably originates from the reference to the historical principality.
@@LPVit And as we speak of Russia (Россия) the russian Wikipedia article is named Молдавия, which means Moldawia. But it says, that Респу́блика Молдо́ва is also common, which means Respublica Moldova.

Cool vid! To be honest, the city doesnt look that bad. Also seen the Bald & Bankrupt video but I think he showed the worst parts of the city on purpose to make it more interesting perhaps. This video seem to give a more honest impression, the good and the bad so to speak.
Actually that guy made something good by showing the bad, city leadears got so scared that they started to rebuild the subways and make some changes to good
Go to odessa Ukrain.......very beutiful......and we need youre videos there 😁
I very much enjoy seeing a less traveled country and seeing the normal streets.
Hey Gabriel, I know you don’t get a lot of editing time but when you get some down time it would be awesome if you made some graphic of the world with all the areas you’ve been shaded in. Add whatever elements you want of areas you’d like to explore or go back to. ✌️ Enjoy yr adventures.
Gabe, I admire your instinct for alternatives and common sense and patience when things end up not working properly or going right the first time, like checking into your room and your cell service not working. Man, my initial instinct is to panic immediately, like when my phone service ended up not working when I visited Europe last year, or the one time I was in Rome and an ATM machine ate my debit card. Next time I'm traveling I'll try to stay calm, cool and collective as you do, and accept things that aren't under my control. 👍
I’ve only seen a couple of videos from Moldova, and the countryside is more picturesque. This is a place where hitting up the one tourist office would be a good idea. They set up tours. Apparently, there’s tasty wine there. Still, I find your free form roaming around to be interesting and useful.
I went on a wine tour today, pretty cool.
It looks like normal Eastern Europe to me. And I live in central/eastern Europe.

Went last year to Chisinau. Hotels are a bit pricy compared to the country's economy, but all in all I liked the moldovans better than the their brother to the west. Friendly people. And Gabriel if you miss tourists go to the railway station at 4.30 pm. Several of them go with the night train to Bucharest to experience the boogies getting exchanged. If you like communist buildings go to the zoo, in that area you find the gateway in to the city. One of those places you often see on pictures from Chisinau (citybusses are easy to navigate and there is a ticket seller on board)
Thank you so much for the pronunciation clarification!! ✌️
Probably has better public transportation than the US.
Jon petter How is it in the US?
You must be joking
Turkey's cities used to have Magirus public buses in their vaults which are owned by Hungarian company in Budapest and had used those communist buses for 30 years time until Mercedes, Dutch public buses have been in use after those companies have opened up their factories in Ankara, Aksaray cities of Turkey. Also 1950s large American cars were in use for bus purposes, shared transportation among districts of Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara until 1990s and then taxis and dolmus have been widely used by turks.
Thanks ☺️
Doesn't seem like a very friendly place to visit. They should welcome tourist and cameras to bring in some dollars to fix the place up. Your going to spend five days there ? I think we may have seen all the hot spots.
I have been to Moldova and there are actually some things to see and do. Right outside Chisinau there are 2 very impressive wineries you can visit, one of them has the largest wine cellar in the world by Guinness World Records. And there is the unrecognized country also, Transnistria, a pro-Russian de facto country established in the 1990's that is outside Moldovan Government control, interesting place for sure that I spent 3 days in.
Its just sad. Very sad. The nasty smell of corruption and careless politicians is everywhere. You can see that people crave for change but the society is probably so divided that any progress would happen in a speed of a turtle.
Hi Gabriel.Im Moldavian ,living in Chisinau...Thank you for visiting ...Hope to see you soon...We do have lots of beautiful places outside Chisinau...
I plan to go back to Moldova again sometime and see more of the country. :)
Moldova probably is nicer out in the countryside.
This is exactly what traveling is and should be about . Get off the touristy fake places and visit the real places in this world , great videos and so inspiring 👍
This place is as real as the hair on a frog.
What made you choose Moldova?????
It's certainly "different"..
The comment about lack of tourists ..the filming speaks volumes as to why it lacks tourists....
4:16 I almost got mugged there once, and I am from Moldova.
It was easter Sunday, I was walking home from the city center, went to cross the road through the passage, looked across the street and a thug-like dude jumped off his seat and ran inside the tunnel as soon as I set foot on the first stair of the many stairs leading inside the tunnel.
Glad I broke the law and crossed the street illegally.
Hey Gabriel recently I've visited the Northern California mountains like Shasta etc
Me being a Moldovan I should say that you got lucky to be born and raised out there

Hi Gabriel, greetings and welcome to Moldova from a fellow Moldovan, you need to know that Moldova is a very close minded country and a very few of its people know whats normal and whats not, Dont go to Ciocana on street Maria Dragan because if you encounter one of the ”veterans” from there you might go back home with a few scars, if you want to make a joke for the fellow Moldovans here go to Briceni, there is a meme going on about a dumb lady on a TV show saying she got to work after the border in Briceni, fun fact Briceni is in Moldova. the Curchi Monastery is very beautyfull, go to Orheiul Vechi, Old Orhei, it is an old monastery inside a mountain, and a new one is on top of it, also the sights of Moldova are very nice, Dont swim in river Nistru, you dont want to get all the skin sickness from this planet.
Go to Poland please, I recommend Gdańsk, Wrocław, Kraków and Warsaw
Hi
OMG you are in my country!!! I highly recommend you to go to the old orhei it's like a mini canyon with a river and a monastery there are some cool small caves but I don't think you can go inside them there are more interesting places in Moldova not only Chisinau, Chisinau is kinda boring and it's not a touristic place so you can explore outside the city

I respect Gabe for wanting to visit some different kinds of places, but at the same time there's a reason the touristy places are touristy: There's usually interesting things to see and the locals are generally friendly and accommodating. Moldova maybe not so much.
