It is not in class and there are a lot of middle class people in the South and a lot in the north. There are also a lot of working class people in the north and a lot in the South. Tywin Lannister's got to be one of my favorite 'bad guy' characters in Game of Thrones. I use the quotation marks because, while I see him as, in a sense 'evil' he isn't evil in the same way as the Mountain is evil or Joffery was evil or Cersei. He's got moments where his character is actually very impressive; two of which in particular that I can think of are in Seasons 2 and 4. In season 2, his little moments with Arya where you get on the edge of your seat thinking that he is going to find out who she is, he gives off a kind of vibe while talking to her; a kind of vibe like a grandfather would give (if it weren't for the circumstances involved). The same went when he was talking with Tommen during Joffery's 'wake,' you can tell that despite his strange and rather dark principles he still has the best intentions in mind. Tywin Lannister's the kind of guy I'd want to have as a grandfather; the kind of guy who, whenever I'm around, is willing to be there to teach me things so long as I'm willing to listen to him. Gonna miss his character...
