    THANK YOU SO MUCH I play games on a MacBook so it’s hell to get good performance I bought a 20 dollar USB adapter and I never even thought that it would be the problem I changed the way my setup is and now my Mac is averaging 60% idle CPU instead of 10-6%

    DAAANG! its the dongle! been running back and forth God Knows how many apple advisor have I talked to, once I'm not using the USB C adapter on my MBP, the kernel task dropping out fast. Also, I was thinking getting external 4K monitor with the USB C connector, so as its projecting the screen the monitor will charge the Mac Book as well, do you think the CPU performance will be affected by connecting the external monitor with the USB C to my MBP? thanks again for the video Man!

    Hello,
    I have a Macbook pro 2019 i9 overheating and kernal_task was eating up all CPU resources.
    The fix for me was disconnecting a Ugreen multiport dongle, which was overheating like hell by itself.
    Now I am using individual USB C to HDMI and USB C to USB A converters instead of the large dongle and the problem has been resolved so far.

  • @leebuckle8288
    @leebuckle8288 Před 3 lety +3

    How does the %CPU column relate to the "System", "User" and "Idle" percentages? For example, "Windowserver" is using around 80% on my machine, but it also says over 70% idle. I expected that a single process using 70% would mean that Idle couldn't possible be any more than 30%

    • @JamesBeauton
      @JamesBeauton  Před 3 lety

      Idle refers to the % left over -- so if you have 70% idle that means you have 70% of your total CPU to work with. The higher the idle number, the better your computer will run. system is the computer as a whole, and user refers to different profiles on the computer (i think...not 100% on that) -- regardless, idle is what you want to keep your eye on.

    Hey man. At random times, my CPU usage skyrockets whenever I’m doing heavy tasks like playing videos, motion images, screen saver, emulator, VS Code, etc
    And my fans are very loud like the engine of a car. Especially the left fan. Do you reckon changing the fans will fix my issue?

    • @michaelolusegun4609

      By the way I use an external monitor with a dongle. But that’s not the real issue because the CPU usage be acting up even when I have nothing connected to my USB C ports. I believe it’s the fans.

    Great video James. My computer runs fan, such as speaking on Google Meet, not often but sometimes doing something more extra such as using another web tool along with it. The computer remains idle like 75-80% but yet runs fan. Is it something normal to run fan on such high idle?

    • @JamesBeauton
      @JamesBeauton  Před 2 lety +1

      are you on a macbook? they run really hot - just how they were designed - so that's why the fan is so active. so i guess it's "normal" for macbook fans 🤷

    I have a MacBook Pro, I hope you have heard of the game Roblox, that game literally takes 102% of my CPU usage. Can you help me why is this happening like i though macbooks dont overheat and stuff but still it takes lot of CPU usage. but i dont think so it should take that much. Any idea on solving it? and also if my idle is around 70 is it good or bad?

  • @manuelarreguin724
    @manuelarreguin724 Před 3 lety

    Remindd seams to be my issues running my CPU high and drains my battery and causes my fan to turn on as well. All i do is force quit and fixes the issue temporary but it happens all the time when i get on my macbook. Do you happen the cause of this? Its annoying.

    • @JamesBeauton
      @JamesBeauton  Před 3 lety

      I honestly don’t know the cause but it’s common for MacBooks (especially the newer ones) to do that. My guess is that they are being produced with the lowest possible specs to sell, so when you try to do anything CPU intensive (even just having a lot of tabs open), the computer has to work really hard to keep up-hence the fan and the need to force quit. Quality of apple laptops in recent years has really gone down :(

      I know. I recently upgraded to a PC (windows 10) and my QoL improved dramatically. Apple products are designed for convenience for what *most* ppl need. Definitely not for what we’ve all had to adapt to over the last year. However some folks might not be fortunate or privileged enough to be able to spend $600+ on new devices, so they go to CZcams to try and diagnose their tech issues. And unfortunately, the diagnosis to their tech problem is often times to do just that-spend $600+ on upgrades and new gear. But that’s capitalism for ya. Not much we can do about it but try to get along and help each other when we have the means. It’s easy to be a pessimistic nihilist. But it’s perhaps more rewarding to be an optimistic nihilist. Sure, this sucks. Life sucks. Capitalism sucks. Shitty CZcams commenters suck. But at some u just gotta say heck it and have a good time 💫👌
