I just found out that not only are John McEnroe and Patty Smyth married, they’re married to EACH OTHER and have been since 1997! I never would have thought he would end up in a stable marriage, let alone to a rock legend.
Give John alot of credit, playing live is not easy, esp with legendary rockers like Patty. It takes alot of guts to go outside your comfort zone. John rocked for me.
Playing a 3 chord song is not difficult. Playing with pro musicians is easy. Good monitors so u can hear yourself. I'm a guitarist. McEnroe is having a blast.
Patty Smyth is one of the BEST female rockers in history (in my opinion) correct me if Im wrong! And John is a very lucky man to be married to such an awesome rocker...God bless!
I actually enjoyed watching this a lot. John is a ham and egger but I give him a lot of credit for getting up there and havin' fun. Not half bad really. His wife is Rock and Roll royalty

John's got a real punk ethos to his sound. He'd survive open mic night in my 'hood. It was nice of his wife to let him get up there. Professional musicians usually only want other pros on the stage with them.
He did say he wasn't too good in his first book. That being said he signed lots of shots for me in 1982 at Queens Club, UK. So he cannt do wrong for me!
The vocals are a bit ordinary lol (I'm not sure I could do any better though as that song's not the easiest to sing!), but good ole John rocks that guitar though. Not bad at all. Thanks for uploading this, it was really interesting to watch 🙂

The worse thing a guitar player can do is to play with your weak hand fretting as that takes a huge amount of strength and coordination. Like the Mac-ono does.
Is their somebody backing him up on guitar and can't sing. Just like the officials not throwing him out the game being a jerk. I'm glad Tatum got out that abusive relationship . Why was Tatum with that jerk. I feel sorry for tatum.
Didn't Tatum herself admit many times on national TV and books that SHE was the big problem in the relationship because of severe substance abuse, therefore leaving John to raise the kids?
I've been around as long as John McEnroe and have seen plenty of horrific pile-ups and crack-ups on the road but this one I can honestly say Takes the Cake! I really feel for the Fender Telecaster a legendary guitar that should only be picked up by serious guitarists!
