Global IT outage: Airports, hospitals, businesses around the world disrupted

  • čas přidán 4. 09. 2024
  • A massive IT glitch has crashed computer systems around the world. Airports, hospitals and businesses have been affected, with computers shut down or unable to access networks. The main reason is an outage in Microsoft's cloud services and related apps. Travel disruptions have been the most obvious consequence of the global IT failure. Airports stretching from the US to Australia and including India, the UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia all saw their booking systems fail, forcing staff to check in passengers manually.

Yes unix systems are more robust but unix systems are usually more for backend server operations and unix servers and the apps licenses are very expensive, cheaper FE or front end application servers usually on windows and easier to develop. For DR on paper it sounds great but only big companies can really afford imagine on your production you have clusters for all the important servers then your DR site you also want to have clusters and replica servers then you are paying for maintainence and licenses for equipment in both sites but your DR is just standby waiting for something to happen - SUPER EXPENSIVE solution that honestly very few companies can afford.
