Evolution of Johnny Cage's Nut Punch (1992-2019)

- Johnny Cage's nut punch also known as nutcracker and split punch is without a doubt one of the most iconic signature moves in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The move itself was taken from the movie Bloodsport (1988) where Frank Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) performed the split punch to win a match against a bigger and larger opponent.
In this video, I performed the nut punch using Johnny Cage in every Mortal Kombat game in which this signature move appears. I hope you enjoy the video! :)

Shaolin Monks fatality is one of my absolute favorites.

Recently found an old footage of filming MK1’s Nut Punch, and it looked like the actor originally tried out punching and uppercutting in front of himself, but it would mean his legs weren’t visible to the camera, before they added the slip powder to make the sideview punch possible. So in a way MK9 and beyond’s splits uppercut is a more realistic depiction of how a splits nut punch would actually look.
