Beautiful restoration. However, it's a tragedy they didn't decide to restore rail service into it.

Yeah but it's Ford... Ford has been trying to use this building as a research center since 1988 but they've just been hit with problem after problem. When you have a city like Detroit that has lost well over half of its entire population, no rail service is ever going to be profitable unless the area it's in can be revitalized. Add on corruption from the Democratic party in the city of Detroit in the 2000s and lost manufacturing and you have a city that no one wants to travel to. Not even Amtrak could make the station financially viable. It never even really succeeded as a railroad building. It was never fully occupied (the top floors always remained vacant), it was built after the peak of railroad transportation in 1916, I think Ford could easily use the railroads if they ever needed to transport materials but I just don't see that happening anytime soon.

Always stood out looking across the Detroit river. For some reason I thought it was torn down, glad to see it restored instead. Beautiful building.

I’m from Chicago and I remember meeting this incredible woman from Toronto in Detroit and it was both our first time there even though Detroit is 4 hrs from both of us. But we explored Detroit and I remember looking at this building thinking of how it reminded me of old historic buildings in Chicago and was baffled to why it wasn’t operational and restored like Chicago does it’s historic buildings. That was in 2015 I am glad to see this building getting a 2nd life even though it’s intended purpose was a train station definitely would have been one heck of a train station to this day.

Chilaga had tons of pre-American structures -- I'm certain this also is of the same era. Some historical record checking would reveal much I'm sure.

Great restoration for a gracious building it's a shame the Packard plant couldn't have been restored as well
