As a man with melanin who also came up in the Afro Punk era, I can say that while I get what Adam is saying (Carti's sound does capture aesthetic better than authenticity when it comes to punk, metal, etc) he's completely ignoring that punk, metal, etc speak to a current generation and have never been produced for anyone other than the artists generation and peers to get it.
Bad Brains was not made so the silent generation had a soundtrack to rebellion...nor was Rage Against The Machine made so that aging boomers had something for them. That's the game and with it being so, Carti is one of the greats.

Playboi Carti's career is an interesting and very unfortunate turn of events. From 2016 to 2018, he was pure creative gold and was easily on the trajectory to become the biggest rap artist in the world. Vlad doesn’t realize that Carti actually idolized Curren$y growing up, spawning from the A$AP Mob, so it’s not like he doesn’t know how to rap at all or make good songs. However, somewhere after the "Die Lit" album, the dude completely lost his mind and got weird. 😂
