The Barqs building on Howard is still there but renovated. The plant you showed on Lameuse is correct. Up until a few years ago, both buildings still had Barqs signs on them.

Sooo glad that I found your channel!!! Thx for digging into the history of these little gems…I love researching my finds as w. In the height of my bottle digging days, there wasn’t the Web to go to, now it’s so much easier and fun. Thx again for your research and time that you put into this…you’re a real gem!😊

I’m from Biloxi, I recently found an old Barq’s bottle buried in the mud while fishing. I believe it’s from the 70’s. Great video, you did your research. A lot of people think Barq’s was created in New Orleans.

As for bottles, Barqs of Biloxi did not care what style of bottle you used as long as you kept buying the syrup. That being said, I had over 150 different Barqs bottles at one time. As for your bottle, it was made in 1956 by Knox Glass in Jackson, Mississippi

The original building is still standing in Biloxi somehow after surviving some of the worst hurricanes in US history.

I liked Barq's root beer but it wasn't as popular as the other big names. Probably lack of advertising?

  • @sunrunneroldbottels223

the stippling on the bottoms of bottles started in 1940 or 41.
