I turned the Hosts of Mordor into Sauron, the Dark Lord, leaned into amass orcs, and have only upgraded it with LOTR cards and it is one of the most fun decks I run.
I can agree to this point.
I did that exactly that too. It’s so fun
Got a deck list?
Same!
Second this one
Whatever happened that you have to record from the road @The Commander's Quarters we are thankful you still put out these videos. Much Love and hope everything is fine
I prefer the milling reanimate, extremely powerful
I'm actually doing the opposite. Im leaning into the ring tempts you mechanic so I can discard my hand and reanimate big stuff. But I let my army get big.
Shoutout to our favorite foot commander Ugluk. Sacrifice the orc army? Looks like meat’s back on the menu, boyz!!! 🥩🔥😈
I’m about to use this bad boy at the LOTR commander event at my LGS in an hour!! Love him and he’s super underrated
Underrated? He's one of the most popular new commanders.
He’s the 18th most popular commander on EDHRec lol
I was waiting for this! Awesome man, thx!
Been trying out a very similar build and have been very impressed with Gift Of Doom as surprise protection for sauron from wraths
the interesting thing about sauron is that it isn´t restricted to ork armies so you can build it with the zombie army token from war of the sparks
I have been looking for a commander like this for my janky Raiding Party deck
I love this sac strat instead of a big Orc strat. Yeah you’re Orc will get really big, but trample isn’t as consistent in this color combo compared to sac and life drain, so this is really nice to see!
But then blue is great for unblockable? Why trample when you can just hit directly? Also the potential for deathtouch, double strike, etc in grixis 😂
@@angelofsymphonia932 So true!
2:44 And first up!
I find that the 2nd commander in the precon amass a whole lot faster and gives your army ward. Definitely putting this in the 99 though
You won't have an army with this deck. You don't need to amass fast either, just often. You're instantly sac'ing the 1/1 army every time.
I have this commander and I used Voldaren Thrillsinger to backup on my huge orc army and I flung it to KO somebody
Wow literally what I was looking for as it got posted. Weird...
The commanders quarters piggy bank see's all.
I have plans but I have to cut cards... I want to run both krenko in here just for amassing more goblins for the "army"... sauron + 9 nazgul, 10 slots for goblin generators and some lotr orcs, 10 misc, 10 removals, 10 card draws, 10 ramp... some of those will overlap.
. like counting sauron as draw since I will be tempting often... so will probably squeeze some recursion in there
Could you elaborate on the armies trigger? You had mentioned a couple of times that the army trigger would effectively help drain opponents. From what I read it would seem you would only get an army if you do not have one and if you do you get a +1 +1 counter. Do you mean to play it like when you get an army you would use it as sac fuel right away? Otherwise a cool deck idea!
Yes the idea is to sac the army as soon as it spawns.
I run Sauron with big armies and shapeshifters. Make every creature an army or start the game with a Changling Outcast for an unblockable army
How’s it play? I thought about doing that as well!!
Please do Saruman (the white hand and the many colors) !
what is better s tier or o tier?
do you think is the best or only way to play sauron with the sacrificement of the army, i dont run it that way
Mob Rule wins games and thanks to the sac outlets clears the board too.
Can you sacrifice creatures on the turn of other players?
You could fling the orc army at there face
I build a self-wheel with Nazgul meant to be the wincon but I end up getting targeted simply because he's my commander. If you don't go for aristocrats, I don't think he's all that scary. Kinda just a Managorger Hydra man who tries to keep your hand at 4.
Now i could be wrong, but amassing tokens is making one singular token, then adding +1+1 counters. So the Ayara triggers won't happen?
You sac the army pretty much as soon as the token is created. So you can get multiple army tokens in one turn
I feel like my upgrade is so slow to start you can barely lay a functional creature. I'm usually using instants and sorcery's to fight off attacks until the 4 turn. It can be stressful
Multiple Arena players quit when they tried to remove him and then realized it costed more than they could afford.
I’m just like.. did you read my commander? I read yours like 4 times and started coming up with a plan to counter it.
I did reanimator concept
Interesting
I think saruman might be better for the mana value.
He’s a great alternate commander, but Sauron is worth the extra mana too, it’s honestly up to you to run the deck how you think it will play best
If you want to further punish players for casting spells, you can play Curse of Shaken Faith and Maddening Hex. Curse will punish a single player for casting more than one spell a turn(and completely shut down some infinite engines) and Maddening will bounce the damage around between your opponents.
Sauron or Saraman that’s the real question
This deck sounds very reliant on Sauron being out. Considering he's 7 mana, I feel like you'd be sitting around not doing much until you cast him. Granted he is hard to remove when he is out, but still.
I feel like this deck reeaaaaly relies on Sauron being alive ond the board. If it gets board wiped, game over.
Recast commander after board wipe
Or reanimate him
@@edwardtetzlaffidk if you know this but paying 8 mana to recast doesnt feel too good. We aint in green color either
@@meyeneetuks4680idk man. I did it earlier today, and after doing so had 7 open or something like that. Still won the game, and had a lot of fun too
Granted I lean real hard into the amassing a big army, giving it trample (and lifelink if I'm able, which I was tonight) and menace. But yeah man. It's fun
Bought the alt art at 5$ 😂
Its not that its a horror and there are many strong grixis cards...nope such cards do not exist...😂 i may stop playing mtg after playin from 96 , mtg turns to be a 3 turn to 5 game, so whats the fun in it any longer.
Need a play group that plays at the power level you’re looking for. When my friends and I play our games average two to two and a half hours and we have an agreement not to get too crazy with our decks. Fast games aren’t always bad thought because then you just get to play another!
@@kingdopenuts i like the ppl in my playgroup that is what matter most to me, i do not like ast games nor high powerlevels
Omega Level Commander but the deck tech is under powered.
Keep in mind that this is mainly a budget build also. He would probably build it to a higher tier if there wasn't a budget
Im surprised hes not an African themed warlor- tribal chief because ma diversity.
Cringe
All the evil creatures are very well represented based on the books and universally white, even the African and Middle Eastern based cultures. What did Wizards mean by this?
@@nighght2789 when they stop doing it one way will stop pointing it out.
bad card.
Sauron or Saraman that’s the real question
