    I have had great success using Tempo dust along with the duster he uses in this video. I have eliminated several ground nests as well as nests behind walls and in soffits. Apply after dark when all workers are back in the nest and resting. Not a single hornet left alive by morning.
    This product also remains active for up to 6 weeks which is important because it will also eliminate any larvae that hatch after the initial application!

    Most importantly any treatment is safer and more effective when dobe at night and all the colony is in the nest. I use a flash light set off to the side and attack from opposite direction as they will mostly go towards the light. A little dust goes a long way and will travel through the hidden voids farther as opposed to clumps. One thing I would've done differently would be to drill a hole into the hollow pillar higher up and shot the dust in there. They have dust inserts that you can put into drilled holes for dusting and they work great. Dust goes inert when moisture gets to it though. So if you have an area prone to frequent infestations of ants, spiders, wasps, etc., you can give a little shot of dust in there once every few months. Also, yellow jackets in particular need to handled very carefully because they have multiple queens...and the queens 100% of the time made a beeline straight at me when the workers were fleeing all other directions. I was a licensed pest technician at the time, and had a bee suit on, and also used a professional dust stick for all yellow jacket and bald faced hornet jobs.

      To make it clear I assume when you did the Y.J.’s you were a tech & during the day right? Because you said the queen came right at you! I’m doing it way after dark so hopefully none are able to fly around? I saw one suggested to spray with can of hornet killer so they won’t fly through hole & then when it dries maybe next night do the dusting?!? Thoughts anybody??? 🤔

    I had six ground-nesting yellowjacket nests last year. I bought the Tempo Dust (better than Delta Dust), treated all the nests in the late evening in my shorts and flip-flops, never got stung. No puffer needed for ground nests, just puff it out of the bottle, two big puffs per nest. All nests dead within 36 hours. 100% effective, only took half a bottle.

      Actually Hornets and yellow jackets are very beneficial for killing aphids and other pest in the garden that otherwise kill plants or make them sic.
      Im currently in the process of removing a nest, but I've noticed this year all my plants havent had ANY detrimental bugs (other than snails).
      Watching closer you can actually watch hornets eat little bugs in the garden.
      Also one of the top MOTH / CATERPILLER EATERS!

      Tempo dust is okay to use inside and outside and is more effective against flying insects than Sevin. Sevin dust should not be used inside, but is more effective than Tempo when killing crawling insects.

    The dust is great shit. Way better than the liquid on nests inside of walls and things. I buy the generic squeezy tubes but it's the same principle: locate the entrance, wait until night, use a red light (they can see yellow) and stuff that tube up in the entrance hole (be a man about it) and give them a good puff. They'll spread it around with their frantic flapping of their wings.
    The sound the hive makes as it dies is like a basso profundo from a church organ, I swear. They all come flip-flopping out the front hole like badly trained high divers, doing the "kicking chicken" all the way down. Scared the shit out of me the first time, but they're harmlessly retarded at this point, just trying to escape instinctively. Creepiest part was how they could still instinctually crawl towards a white flashlight even when dosed up with tetramethrin dust and literally brain dead... NEVER use a white flashlight on a night extermination op. If you fuck up somehow and spook the whole hive without killing it, they'll home in on that flashlight.
    Don't forget to cut a hole and remove all the corpses and larvae, though. Otherwise it'll rot in the walls and stink like rotting insect guts... which it is

    • @jasoncarswell7458
      @jasoncarswell7458 Před 11 měsíci

      @@blaah9999 If they're in the wall and you can't cut a section to get the corpses out, you probably want to pay for somebody to use a shop-vac to suck them out (and into the soapy water pit of doom).
      I say pay somebody because it takes a lot longer and the vibration/noise of the vac riles the hell out of them so you probably want a bee suit for any escapees. You also need to locate and plug all the other holes first so they don't escape out the back way. It's less fool proof than dust.

  • @inhaleexhale
    @inhaleexhale Před 2 lety +1

    The only thing that concerns me is that the active ingredient in Tempo dust is cyfluthrin, which is a repellent. This means that the paper wasps will be aware when I spray. They are in a hard to reach location and I am terrified of them. One of the locations they are in would mean they will drop/fall directly down onto my hand and me, because they are deep inside of a light fixture.
    I am looking for something to apply close up in places that will leave me in an unsafe, precarious position.

    Who's the nut-job, that left that gap at the bottom of the Pillar, so that those little pests could get in there, in the first place? They could have sealed that gap off, so that those little monsters couldn't have nested in there... but no! This is why this guy has ro do the dusting process with the Tempo Wasp and Hornet Killer!
    Completely pathetic.
    They used to say:"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Apparently, though, people don't believe in that anymore, so we end up with stuff like this having to be done!

    Hi thanks for video, I have a 10 x10 shed that's raised off the ground. I have yellow Jack's under there for years. I'm assuming there's thousands under there. I did the wet/dry vac for a while that killed about a thousand. My question is, I see the crack where there going in and out. Seems like the only spot i see their going in and out of. Do you think if I spray the 54 spray and the powder into that crack. Do you think that will kill the whole nest, if I'm only spraying the entrance. I would think the nest has to be the foot print of the shed 10 x 10. It's been going on for years. Thank you for your help

      @@mmadsisrad yes it did, I had that wet dry vac setup for over a month and had a blink video camera on it. And every time I seen a bunch trying to go in, I turn it on I must of killed a thousand that way. Seen that stuff on line the can of spray and powder, from do it yourself pest control and I bought the set and a bulb for that powder and it worked great. I did not see one after that, and till this day 6 months later. Do it at night, spray the can for 12 to 15 seconds into the crack were there going in, wait 10 minutes and then pump the powder in. I also put powder on the surrounding area. I was a little skeptic about it, but red all the reviews on that site and every one of them was excellent. All that time waisted with the wet dry vac. When this took it out in one night. They did tell me that they could come back in the future. So try to seal up where there getting in.
