  • Bros was a British band active in the late 1980s and early 1990s, consisting of twin brothers Matt Goss and Luke Goss, and Craig Logan. The band's name comes from an abbreviation for the word 'brothers'. Formed in 1986, they were managed by former Pet Shop Boys manager Tom Watkins.

      Exactly, what exactly is embarrassing? That whole Bros look was a vintage look re done and it still holds up. What is it about the Brits who like to bash their own? Matt has a tremendous voice and Bros actually injected some punch back into music. These people can sit there and bash them but at least Bros accomplished their dream. They made first class pop music

    Who the hell ARE these people? Yeah the negative no bodies (like I never heard of any of these people) but those 2 chicks were NEVER TRUE BROSETTES! What they are now embarrassed by something they did as 14 year old school girls? WTF? Its a right of passage really... man I love them when I was 14, still love Bros (yes Craig too) today. 1. Matt is STILL one of the best singer songwriters today. 2. Luke is forging a very successful career in movies (but I bet can still play drums) while Craig is a successful music exec. Dont hide your head in shame, embrace the love!!!!

    I honestly do not understand why British people don't like them. It is almost like they don't want to like Bros so they can continue liking the Beatles or whomever they prefer. I'm not sure if we knew a lot about Bros in the U.S., but I think we really would have liked Chocolate Box. That's my favorite. They wrote their own songs, performed their own beats, created a strong foundation of music . . . and they're hated? That's strange to me. But we give so much attention to mumblers today, folks who can't string one verse together on their own. People are goofy.

    You know what actually IS embarrassing ?
    Music nowadays.
    The arrogant individuals speaking and judging the twins in the video clearly know very little about the truth behind the surface concerning the project Bros. As they proved it years later, they co wrote all their songs, sang for real and had much more talent that half actual acts that are seen as offering quality pop music.

    At school being good at art I painted a few girls bags with the Bros logo and made a few pound coins lol, and though I was not a fan at the time, I thought them silly and just for certain girls to scream over (I liked Talking Heads, Prefab Sprout, etc).
    Having revisited their ouevre more recently whilst they aren't going to be my favourite singers of all time, they weren't that bad, at least they could sing, and the songs were quite catchy, way better than anything I've heard in the charts now.

  • @SSS.1984
    @SSS.1984 Před rokem +1

    The problem with Bros was that while they did indeed write and play all their own music, not to mention they had a genuinely talented vocalist fronting them, the songs themselves were just too shallow to really stand the test of time. Bros were probably seen as successors to Wham after the latter group split, but unlike Wham their songs don't really hold up today. They'll make many a nostalgic heart happy I'm sure, but these songs are not going to be played for anything more than that. Whereas you can take a Wham song like Everything She Wants, Last Christmas & I'm Your Man anywhere in the world they charted & it won't just be nostalgia talking when they're praised.
    But with that said, these are still better songs than the autotuned GARBAGE that stinks up the airwaves today!

    • @scallywagstv2439
      @scallywagstv2439  Před rokem +1

      Excellent comment. It’s fine being poppy, catchy and pretty but there was no substance or depth to their stuff. It was all a bit throwaway.
      They burned very brightly in the moment but the songs weren’t strong enough to stand the test of time.

    • @SSS.1984
      @SSS.1984 Před rokem

      @@scallywagstv2439 Exactly! See even though I don't own any of their stuff and quite frankly, don't care for their work I can still admit that while the songs don't hold up the band were not talentless at all. Matt had a good voice and the playing was perfectly fine. There is no reason why they couldn't have become better with experience because they possessed the ability, but sadly for them the instant fame/popularity they achieved probably made them feel they'd arrived when in actual fact they were a long way from becoming the best they could be. And that really is the difference between Bros & Wham. The latter had a creative driving force in George Michael & even as early as the first album he knew his best work was not on their first album. And he set out to prove a point (which he did) with the second album. Bros? Their albums probably all sounded the same in terms of quality.

    There's nothing embarrassing! If ppl lived in the 80ties I think at ppl can remember that they had hits after hits and Matt has actually a great voice while many one hit wonders wasn't able to sing as Matt did!
    I remember they said the same about WHAM, Depeche Mode and many more and I rest my case!
    BTW they're touring again and have MORE tickets sold than some popular artists today. Actually many from the 80ties are touring again, it says a lot about the music back then event hough they (some) were ond hit wonders. Look at the one hit would ders today! But in 30 years ppl shouldn't feel ashamed they were into 1D or whatever.
    Only negative talentless twatts says stupid thing like that. If you're happy & content with your life,you don't have the need to trash others!
    Many forget the ppl you meet on the way up the ladder,you gotta look at the way down, and you never know what's going to happen!
    These boys were 17 when they became famous over night all over the world,they were screwed by their producers, ppl they trust. Most of us don't near the succes they had for 6-7-8 years from that age! I think it's embarrassing to point fingers at them!
    We saw it happen with NKOB,Take That, spice girls and all the way to 1D, little mix and what they're all called!
    And are the fans moron cuz they have or had a crush on someone on a band? It's part of growing up. It more UNNATURAL not to have an idol.
    I remember being a huge WHAM fan & cried cuz they split up,then I was sad George was gay *cuz I wanted to marry him,lol) and my heart broke when he died.
    And I was sad when Alan Wilder left Depeche Mode and thought that's it,but they're still rocking today.
    It's ONLY natural to have idols and a crush and zi feel sorry for young men/women taken advantage of like BROS, NSYNC also solo artists (Toni Braxton) many trust in ppl around them,few were smart or lucky.
    But to say they were embarrassing or the fan were or make fun of he's voice, a man who CAN sing still today , who's embarressing ?
    It sounds like jalousi to me. We can't like all music or voices but can't deny when ppl can sing. Today many can only sing with autotune and other machines (that's embarrassing ) but not,cuz they're laughing their way to the bank!
    People are jalousie, people who trash others feel like trash themselves. That's just my opinion.
    But I think this video is very interesting as we can discuss about how we feel (if we were born back then) but it's an unfortunate tendensy we have seen for many many years that producers steal money from the young hardworking producers, so I can't & won't trash the person making this video,the person made a grate platform to discuss it on.
    But I'm embarrassed on behalf of some of the people trashing Matts voice,the band or them self for having an idol.
    Remember Milli Vanilli? They got used too and it ended up in tragic suicide or OD ! And they actually could sing,but the world was so fast and cruel & they went after young artists instead of the awful ppl behind Milli Vanilli. And we still haven't learned a shit! We don't know what state of mind the artist are in, why do we jeep trashing ppl we don't even know? Most of them think they're living their dream but get used/abused instead and instead of support from us, they get judgements !
    We should be ashamed, embarrassed ! Just saying.
    They're literally kids when they join a band or whatever and if they can't be used anymore, they get 3 options. 1.killed (call it suicide/OD etc) 2. Calles wacko,pedo ,get their nanms ruined 3. They become addicted to cope the pressure !
    By hyping it we are in on it. Maybe we all should have a souls arching including me.
    BTW my idols George Michael & Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode have saved my life. I never thought an idol could do that but they did. It's tragic with George but he's way of keep fighting & Dabe Gahan who became clean , they showed nd it's possible. If they could do it, I could too. So maybe it's not that bad to have teen idols/crushes as we never know how their life will affect ours !
    IF you were a BROS fan there's NOTHING to be ashamed about. Watch how young they were and what they've achieved for themselves and the heartaches they overcame.
    You're normal person who had an idol just like rest of us. And they were much more succesfuld then many others through time
    ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍😘
