Jetstar | Melbourne - Singapore | Business Class... Aussie travel chaos!

  • After a wait of 3 years, welcome to my first ever long awaited international flight. Covid 19 has surely put a spanner into our lives and I cannot believe I have not left our shores in that long. Well, here I am embarking on the start of my soiree through Asia. So I am excited to get this started.
    Aussie airport operations are truly in a shitty place at the moment. The lack of staff has surely thrown daily operations into one chaotic shit show so everyday is a different story of challenges facing the staff. My flight today was no exception.
    You'd see despite that, I actually did enjoy the flight because the crew in board JQ7 were awesome. So come along with my on this experience!

Yeah you'll be alright with SQ, JQ+MEL isn't a good combo at this moment. I have a friend on today's JQ7 which got cancelled and he had to cancel his holiday. None of the JQ7s left on time for the last week, most were delayed by an average of 10 hours. Yikes.

      @@ryansofly It _does_ feel pretty much like any other flight. A low cost carrier with prepaid meals and luggage is basically the same as any airline's economy class. OMG I have been waiting SO long to watch this. How nice is it to head to Terminal TWO! INTERNATIONAL! With an aussie passport no less. I can totally feel your excitement. The state of our aviation sector is truly frightening. It really does make me question air travel and whether I should consider other modes of transport...at least domestically. I remember us chatting when all this happened. It's so weird to think we were on whatsapp when all this drama happened. HAHA you do the very same thing I do with chocolates and biscuits for the cabin crew. Unlike me, you didn't wrap yours in ribbon like me. haha I've flown on Jetstar in business class to SIN many times and have very thankfully always had a window seat. Middle seat frightens me. Dare I say this...as i know I will incur the wrath of the SQ gods, but I feel the offering and service on JQ business to be even elevated compared to SQ. EKKK. One my recently flight from SIN to MEL in SQ business I only received ONE meal service and NO amenities kit. I think I will fly JQ from now on.

    • @ryansofly
      @ryansofly  Před rokem

      Unlike you, I didn't plan on buying TTs for the crew until a lightbulb went off in my head. Man, the pax around me were truly very grumpy. The guy next to me went on and on for a while about how he wouldn't fly JQ ever again. I didn't dare ask if he was one of the stranded pax. SQ very quietly stopped serving second meals on 7 hours flights sometime in 2016. So on an overnight OZ flight, its bar service then lights off till pre-landing brekky in YCL. In JCL, you get a choice whether to eat now or later. In my later flight with PR, you'll see that they splashed out the works of multi course meals for BOTH dinner and brekky. Indeed a stark contrast with SQ, taking into consideration the fare is 4x that of PR.

    • @TimEatsandTravels
      @TimEatsandTravels Před rokem

      @@ryansofly That is indeed so weird. When I last did my big international digital nomad travel content creator life, I flew in and out of MEL with SQ in business, first and suites and received multiple meals in all classes. All red eye flights. Hmm...wonder if the fact that I had a camera had anything to so with it? That's a reminder that I should re-edit those videos and re-upload them. Maybe not, too old now. I would absolutely consider PR if I DIDN'T have to transit through MNL.

      Oh mate, I cannot even describe in words how it felt to scan my passport to be let out of the country! It was almost spiritual! Magical! Felt like I was floating! The main terminal infrastructure of MEL hasn't changed since 1970 when the airport opened. SO it is no surprised why it always looks so cramped. They keep adding finger pier extensions for more aircraft but the central arrival / departure atrium hasn't changed. It is the same story with SYD.
