  • I ordered these just before I left town: AQ Volume 1 through 4
These books are from 1962-63 and show their age but the photography and design is really good.
You can pick pretty much any random issue of this book and be surprised.

I have a Daily Mail reprint of the British Motor Show Review from 1962 to 65. Such an incredible variety of marques and models were on offer in the early sixties. A Rolls Royce could be had for around £6000.

I actually have one of those Daily Mail motor reviews- I think it's 1961- and it's original! But I can't even do anything with it, the pages are all yellow and it's falling apart... even sealed away between other books in a box for 15 years it still looks poor. I love the variety in the old days, that's one of the reasons I like to talk about classics so much. What do we have today? Another 250mph hypercar, or another egg-shaped people carrier that has computers that spy on its passengers! lol

Actually of you compare the early books from AQ are a bit larger format then what they became later on I had this set and my next set was at volume 12 and I noticed on the shelf these first ones stuck out farther than the later issues. In one of those first 4 issues the is a story called The Green Pill that is really quite interesting. The AQ people were going to put out a 2 volume book dedicated specifically to Cord back in the day called ELC Errett Lobban Cord, with the coat of arms on the cover, but at that time the pre order price was I think either $450 or $650 I forget which which I cold not afford at the time and I've since looked but I've never found a set for sale anywhere so I'm not sure if the ever got enough orders to actually produce it.
