    Great time Danato. I visited Bourton on the water in 2019 when I was over on holiday from Ireland. What a beautiful village. They were having a rubber duck race that day! Quintessential British Village!

    according to the age grading calculator, your 5:42 is equivalent to a 39' 10K and a 3:03 marathon. Congratulations!

      Oh wow, thanks for checking Jacob! My Garmin says 3:22 marathon despite having ran 3:02 last month 😱😱

    Excellent running Donato, super fast time, but for over 60 is impressive, do you feel like people could trip over each other all taking off so fast? I m guessing by that time you were easily first in your age group, I’ve never ran a mile race before, definitely got to give it a go cheers👍

      Thank you Reece and good question. Whilst I had same concerns of potential trip over we all had lots of space and the girls spread out within first 100m. I was 3rd for over 60s 🤪

      @@PoetWithPace Yup, you seem to be good at all distances, but marathon training is the key, i think.

      @@TheCarnivoreRunner.I think marathon training makes us slower at shorter distances. I’ve certainly seen a lot of ultra runners struggle to get back to marathon fast times.

    Cracking time. I guess you don't agree with the runners who espouse strict diets; I'm with you on that.

      Indeed a great time and race finish time! I don’t care what anyone chooses to eat, I just eat what I want as running is my hobby 🤩

    Cheers Donato. Looked like a great event. I know you've run here before. Got to say, what a beautiful part of the world Bourton-on-the-water is.
    How to run a mile race? Sprint your backside off for 6 mins and you should be done. 5:42 is very impressive.
    I never do a warm up run before an event but certainly would if I was doing a mile race.
    Ps. Sausage and chips looked awesome.

    I was planning to run this in 2024, but didn't know it was so early in the year. It was always in July from my memory. I ran it in 5:38, 2 months shy of my 59th birthday. I haven't even attempted a home mile in a long time.

    • @daddykornflakes
      @daddykornflakes Před 14 dny

      It was always on a Saturday too, at 6:30 I think. I ran this and had the Great Newham London 10K the following morning, so I literally had no sleep in between races as I had to catch the train back to Brum, hadn't eaten all day so wanted to have a proper meal, then I had an early coach to catch to London. It just wasn't worth going to bed and having to get up in 2 hours.

      @PoetWithPace  Před 13 dny

      Cracking time there buddy! I would prefer if it was in July and not so close to marathon season

      @@PoetWithPace If you're interested, there is a Mile event, UKA licensed, on every 1st Friday of each month at around midday in Lammas Park in Ealing, London. A bit of a way to travel but if you're in London it's worth a go. The course isn't great though for fast times, for while it's flat, there's a few sharp turns and a cobbled bit as I recall. By the way, I was confused by you're 400 metre splits, as you gave over 3 mins for each one. I thought maybe you meant to say ONE instead of 3, but it still doesn't add up. Not that I'm disputing your time in any way, and it's better than I've run since I passed the 60 mark, so very well done!!
