A day of travel on Italian regional trains and exploring cities. Firstly intriguing Livorno, with it's old car display, fortress and group of period actors. Then to Pisa for a pizza and to track down the leaning tower. A fantastic day, and I feel so glad to have the opportunity to share it with you. #trenitalia #livorno #pisa #leaningTowerOfPisa

Grazie mille Scott! A proper bumper edition there, a great treat for a rainy Sunday afternoon :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Rain out your way? Its just dull and grey over here.
@@PlanesTrainsEverything aye it's a night to stay in researching timetables and flights :)
Something I woukd do... in fact I'm looking at a wee trip to the Czech Republic. I was supposed to be flying to Berlin tomorrow, but a snap securiy strike at Brandenburg airport put an end to that. At least Ryanair offered a refund.
@@PlanesTrainsEverything Ach hard lines mate! Czech sounds awesome though, the one thing for sure you’ll find a cool adventure!
All I can do is second all the lovely comments!
Great video as always. Bizarrely, my wife and I ate at that exact same pizza restaurant when we were in Pisa in 2007, the food was superb and the staff were really nice.
Well done speaking Italian! Good for you for making the effort.
Brilliant Scott, loving the longer videos which show more of your trips. Your tongue in cheek humour is also very funny as well. Keep up the great work 👍🙂
Livorno looks great 😊. I spent a lot of time in Italy and on the trains. My dad had continental train passes because he worked for British Rail.
Ciao Scott, è sempre un piacere vederti in Italia, sei sempre il benvenuto!🇮🇹🍕🍻
You need to track down your grandfather’s home in Italy!
Should have had a slice of cake in Pisa...A Pisa cake..
Great update Scott , we loved this one , especially the pizza lol ,keep up the good work 👍
Good video.
Hi.... Tomorrow I'm going back to my lake of Como... I stay in Glasgow....I love trains too .... I hope to see you In Como soon. Ciao enjoy my country...
Scott, I believe ( from the date when you visited, going by the Fiorentina v Lecce football game) what you saw in Livorno was the locals celebrating Livorno being granted city status by Ferdinando I de' Medici back in 1606.
6:57 sure you could easily pass for retired Italian footballer fabrizio ravanelli
My secret is out! :-)
Glad you started getting sponsors, you deserve some cash from all the hard work you out in!
what i like about his videos the most is that they arent about politics
Very interesting! I will be getting a train later this year from Treviso to Venice to Florence to Pisa
Rosetta Stone helped me learn broken Italian to get by when I lived and worked in Bologna some 13 odd years ago. Back then it was just a CD ROM how things have evolved
Great to see that you now have a sponsor.
Keep up the good work!!
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing.
The amounts of stops on the train makes it sound like the slow train to Thurso and Wick from Inverness!
It certainly leans!
Scott, really enjoying your videos. Very interesting and entertaining, keep up the great work. You never stop!!
Good stuff scott you got your piece of 🍕 in pisa enjoyed thanks
Fabulous trip and a good long vlog...well done 👏👏
Yet another very enjoyable journey Scott I continue to enjoy watching your Vlogs keep up the good work
Great video. You are one of our favourites
I love Italy and Italian trains are some of the best I’ve been on. Most of my trips have been in the North but I’d love to go further south on my next trip. I’m trying to tick off all the remaining Football stadiums used in Italia 90
You looked quite happy eating your pizza. Something I too would like to see is the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Che bello sentirti parlare in Italiano. Grazie per averci visitato. Ti aspettiamo a Venezia.
I love these regional trains which stop at all the stations - you get a chance to see more of the local colour . Besides who's in a hurry when you're a holiday. Any attempt to usurp the title of home of pizza will be met with strong opposition from Naples .
I am sure 'Fred' would have climbed it!
Much prefer your longer videos 🎉🎉
Another great video Scott
Great video as always Scott. 👍
Great video. I have travelled around Italy by train a long time ago. Trying to pluck up courage to do it again but on my own this time. Thanks for these videos you are for sure encouraging me xx
You will have an amazing experience. The new high-speed trains are amazing.
Wow, I loved the tour around some cities, lovely stuff. I'd love to see more touristy and foody stuff like this, as well as the trip 😁
Regional trains don't always stop everywhere, some skip sole stops and the "Regionale Veloce" are like express trains that only do some stops, hence running faster. On an RV, Florence-Pisa takes less than one hour.
great video my wife was surprised to find out that Florence in Italian is Firenze
Regarding the recycling bins - the Algarve also has bins on the street, colour coded with huge underground containers which are emptied when the streets aren't busy ie no traffic jams. Good idea.
I saw the leaning tower when I was a kid when we were on holiday there
Love your trip reports
I thought the ‘leaning tower of Pisa’ was world famous? Been there a few times.
Great video as always. We were in Pisa last year when we did our Epic European Adventure, 11 countries in 22 days all by train. You might want to double check your Rosetta Stone link in the description, it does not have your code in the url just xxxx so it goes to a page not found. 👍
Thanks you the info. Risetta checked everything, so I'll double check. Thanks for the heads up
Congrats on the sponsorship !!
Very nice video Scotty! Been to Florence and Pisa but not Livorno. Now I wish my Italian wife and I could have seen Livorno. It seems
to be a very interesting and inviting place. In Rome we saw mandarin trees lining the streets but locals said they were no good for
eating but just ornamental. Sure looked healthy though. I had a photo taken in Pisa trying to hold up the wonky tower. Felt a proper
dill doing it and the photo was a flop anyway. Going back to Rome we saw what appeared to be mountains heavily covered by snow.
This was in Summer. Turns out they were mountains of marble. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for your efforts Scott!
Well done Scott. You’ve got a good personality and I enjoyed the extended videos. You should do more like this. Gelato moment made me 😂
Italian regional train tickets are not train-bound, unlike their long-distance trains, but i had wondered which ticket you bought. You could also have bought a ticket at the ticket machine or office, valid for 4 hours as well, but the 4-hours validity starts after you stamped your ticket, much more flexible.
Wouldn't mind doing that journey. Maybe in the videos you can say where/when you bought the tickets.
Last time I was in Italy which was 1971! You did not have to search for pizza. In Rome central station vendors brought trays of hot pizza slices to the train windows for you to buy. Great video btw. 👍👍 from 🇦🇺
The saga continues
Cant believe, you did not give more time to the Lotus Sunbeam,(Talbot Chrysler)built in Linwood on your home Doorstep
Some of the smallest churches I've come across are Greek Orthodox in of all places Greece.
Great video and Livorno looks like a really interesting place❤
Not sure about the vending machine in Pisa 😂😂😂
Interesting video. Better to just buy the regional tickets from a machine and validate; or via the app at the last minute.
Some of those trains you went on are quite old. Compare to the newer ones. Still what a great video 😊
if the Italian ones are old the English ones are Jurassic!
The Rock and Jazz regional trains we went on last summer were very modern.
Some of the best regional trains I have ever been on
If you apply for Italian citizenship, you can get an Italian passport and unlimited travel in Europe without the Brexit Rules.
Italians always eat pizza in the evenings that's why the waiter tried to persuade you
They have trams in florence
They don't go into the old town though. They stop at the train station.
Hey Scott. If you have any of those Valencia Orange seedlings left, I'd love some. I have an allotment in Pollok Park and could tend to them throughout the summer. Hit me up. Stu
Did you get your hands on any palm trees?
Couldn't you find a full sized ice cream> :)
God choice about the football match. Riding trains is by far more interesting.
I've been learning Spanish with Duolingo
Hope you get the chance to go to Sienna and Bologna
Also Modena if you are on the vacinity of Bologna.
Did you visit San Marino whilst you were there
Do they still enforce platform tickets, as you could end up with a hefty fine if challenged by an inspector?
No Pizza Huts or Domino's in Italy, great, you get the genuine article there. It's other European countries like the UK who fall prey to these bloody American frachises. (It happens in Canada, too.) A nice vlog, Scott.
I seen dominos in Milan a few years back
You got any coach and bus trips in italy
How much are the trains in Italy ???
To see Livorno 80+ years on, one can’t see how there was a hellacious battle here in WWII.🇺🇸🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🇮🇪
I have the very same Collins Italian dictionary Scott! Mine has not been used too much recently! Italian is a difficult language for English speaking people to grasp I feel, what with objects having a gender...
that's no different from French and German, it takes time and practice, but its achievable
@@MercenaryPen Of course it's achievable. If it were not there would be non native Italian speaking people! I never said it wasn't achievable, just more difficult than many other languages. And I say that as someone who had lessons from an Italian language tutor for work purposes.
@@legionnairegonk4425 I used Rosetta Stone around 13yrs ago to get broken Italian to go by so it can be done depending on your level
I would personally say Spanish and Italian are the easiest languages to learn for an English person. It helps that both languages are so similar. Many Italian and Spanish speakers can somewhat understand each other without ever having learned the others language.
So Scot are you not mud larking any more.
Did you know that the English name for Livorno is 'Leghorn' ?
film in romania pls
Check out his other videos as he has done some Romanian ones
You managed to do a whole video of 28 minutes without one mention of the word Renaissance.
It was all about pizza and beer. That Scott must be a record. Not much different to the Charles and Diana visit to Florence whose only remark about the city was the presence of a British ex pat community and of how great it was.
Pizzas are eaten with hand mate 😅
we went up the tower ourselves n it doesn't feel that bad wen ur in the tower n u hav to b fit lol
It's odd that you pre booked a ticket for such a small journey on a regional train.
We never bother pre booking for regional trains. It's just not worth it, especially with the limitations like the 4 hour window.
Why didn't you grab a ticket and go up?
eating pizza with a knife n fork?? nt the normal way 😂😂
Highly recommend empoli if you wanna do me European stadiums! It’s one of the most ugliest In Europe but it’s great 😂
Sponsored content 😊, looking forward the Emirates first class reviews soon
Why have they got a statue of Sylvesta Stallone? 6:10
italys train sations look very romanian
More adverts than ITV
Not for me. i use ABP ad block plus. its brilliant on you tube.
@@onlyme8001 Ahhh thanks for the tip. I’m usually okay with supporting the content creator with ad revenue, but some get greedy and take the P !
It's good that he now has a sponsor.
What's better is that the sponser is relevant to the channels content.
It just means that this channel is getting more popular, which is good.
@@bubba842 I never mentioned anything about a sponsor 🤷🏻♂️
Besides I now have an AD blocker, although generally I’ll remove it and watch the ads as I believe the creator should get the revenue, but when they get greedy and it spoils the viewing experience, the ad blocker kicks in and unfortunately they lose out. It’s really good tbh 👍🏼
What’s with the tinted windows? Looks hideous.
You seem to be horrified by the idea that European countries are independent nation states. Yes, these are totally different countries, and that is always has been and always should be.
