    I love the fact that you don’t just review super high end gear, but also stuff that most people can afford and still get great sound. I’m sure the Pass sounds “better” than the Denon, but it’s cool that you mostly used the Denon for review and even brought up the JBL’s. The fact that you aren’t a medium snob is cool too.
    That Tribe album is great.

    I love that you use the Low End Theory from a Tribe Called Quest, the album was released in 1990 and is one my favorite of all times...that album probably more than any other, expanded my Love of music. The Low End Theory introduced me to jazz artists such as Ron Carter, Grant Greene, and Lee Morgan, just to name a few. They would go on to work with other artists such as Roy Ayers, Norah Jones and Elton John. I absolutely love this group, and their entire catalog is impressive. Way too often in these audio reviews, the reviewer is like "I paired these $500 with my $30,000 amp, and the pairing was great" no kidding, most normal people who aren't a revolving door for audio equipment aren't going to pair a set of speakers with an amp that costs way more than the speakers. People need to know good pairings in the price range where the speakers are at.

    I can see how well BR08 can handle different kinds of acoustic and base-centered music. For me, as I listen to Jazz, Classical and, among the other types of music, Rock, can BR08 reproduce a good bodily and detailed sound for this kind of electrically driven music? I'm not speaking about the heaviest types of Rock, say 60's, 70's, some 80's, from Beatles to AC DC? I did not like the soundstage of the Klipsch, and they are too bright for me.

Stereo Exchange was probably the worst of all. I walked in there ready to spend money on a decent system in 1990. I was treated like garbage. I went back a few days later and was treated even worse. Made in China isn't a big deal as long as the parts are not cheap generic Chinese junk parts. What safeguards are in place to reassure customers that they're getting genuine parts?

    In what universe is this a big speaker? Not the audiophile universe. For a tower, it’s a runt. Narrow baffle, small 6.5” woofers do not impress for size. How much does it weigh - 45,50 lbs? Not big. JBL makes monitors bigger than this, see 4429. As another commentator has said these dimensions and specs are a dime a dozen . Yawn

    6.5" CAN'T WOOF, it mumbles!! 10", 12", 15" = WOOF!

      @Carl-bd1rf Před 4 lety +5

      I used to think that. Right up until I traded my 12’s in for 6.5’s.
      The 12’s overloaded my room, the 6.5’s loaded it nicely with much more detailed bass and plenty of rumble.
      Audiophiles overlook the most important aspect of good sound, room speaker interaction.

      Totally agree. Even high excursion 6.5” drivers don’t have the natural punch of 10-15” drivers. Can’t fight physics.

      @Doan Trinh Can’t fight weight either, 15’s are slow and sluggish. Sure you want boom go 15’s you want detail go light.
      I’ve owned/own 15’s 12’s 10’s 8’s 6.5’s.

    Steve is a nice guy and he knows his stuff. BUT a reviewer should be net neutral on products. In other words if you review 10 products 5 should be above par while 5 should be below par. That is the only way to know what is truly the better choice. I will give a real world example. As of today the Boston Red Sox suck. they have won 10 games but lost 21. That is unacceptable. Now they would crush any collegiate team or any Japanese team... but that is not the scale of measurement here - it is against other MLB teams. So although they do not really SUCK... actually they do when you COMPARE. I wish Steve would not heap praise on every product he reviews. I know why he does it... he has to be complimentary to all of these brands or they will not send him the products to review. One hand washes the other. I just with he could be more transparent and well.... simply more honest. I just want to figure out what is the best speakers and receivers to buy in my price range. According to Steve they are all excellent choices. So why do I bother listening to the reviews??? Message to Steve - your consumers - that is us - we are more important to you than the regional marketing manager for Klipsch or Denon. Think Simon Cowell... he became SUPER popular (and wealthy) because he cut through the BS and told the truth. A few contestants got their feelings hurt... boo hoo.
