  • 10.000km test and review of Meindl Vacuum Ultra hiking shoe. After walking 10.000km with the shoe I compare the new shoe to the used shoe. Very interesting!

The fact that the only problem is the loop would really piss me off, would have to get it fixed somehow.

I also got about 10,000km from my pair over 4 years of daily use in European winters, trekking in High Tatra , Austria and Russia etc, and also walking in the Australian outback on sharp stones and in desert sand. Great boots, so comfortable and surprisingly durable. I also have the Meindl Meran GTX Wide, which are also brilliant, a little heavier, probably 20% more heavy duty (almost a B), but I prefer the Ultra and just bought my second pair of them. My uppers are still perfect but the soles are worn down to the midsole. I wish I could resole them with the original in Australia but it’s not available.

Hello, i think that loop might have broken because you rubbed the boots one against the other when walking and the seams got cut. Thank you for this detailed review! Be safe!

There is always a weak point... but not if you buy a 400 euros boot from hanwag, I don't have one of these (tashi), but I don't see any weak point with these shoes.

These shoes are resoleable. Better for the environment.

Are the shoes good for winter hiking in snow? How is the grip of the sole when stepping on wet rocks and in snow?
