Freki and Geri are the wolves of Odin/Wodan in Norse and Germanic mythology --> Geri means something like "greedy" ...at least according to my sources (and the internet) - my medieval icelandic is a bit rusty so I can't check the edda personally :-)
I imagine the space wolves charging into the lines of the thousand sons screaming "nerrrrrrrrrdddssss!". They dont even kill anyone but rather they give them wegies and break their glasses.

Timberwolves aren’t extinct Sparty, perhaps you are thinking of Dire wolves.
Dorn was against having Chapters which is why he developed the Last Wall Protocol. The Last Wall Protocol basically says "hey, if something like the Heresy happens again, all Imperial Fist chapters will recombine into a Legion". Don't ask me why they didn't enact the Protocol during the War of the Beast, the invasion of Hive Fleet Leviathan, or the 13th Black Crusade because each of those really warranted it.

in the novel. "spear of the emperor" russ voices the regrets he has for the things he did on Prospero and he wants to redeem Horus or if he cant, kill him so that others might be spared. Russ seem to have a love of family in him and he does care. Between Russ and Vulkan, i dont know who my favorite are.
The challange between Russ and The emperor reminds me of Thors challanges When he visits "utgårdaloke". When Thor has eating, drinking and wrestling chalanges.
You missed the part where Russ tried to contact Magnus twice before every landing and wanted him to explain himself

The three challenges is based a real norse story called: Thor and Loki's Journey to the Land of the Giants, one of my favorite stories.
Russ did not want to fight magnus. In prospero burns russ begged magnus to surrender so he did not have to attack. He said that magnus is the only person he has ever offered this to. Even with the doctored orders to sanction him russ still offeredd to allow the 1k sons to surrender. But magnus felt from destroying the big Es work they deserved death. Goes on but there is more in those events
I always kinda figured it was Rogue Traders out way ahead of the conquering fleets doing all that trading super rogueishly as is their charge, and they report any crazy shit back to the bulk of the imperium fleets...

Relatively new to warhammer as a whole, (mostly got interested at the beginning of the year) found your channel a few days ago. Primarch’s explained man, massive thanks for putting this stuff together for those of us newbies that are interested in the lore. Subscribed 100% keep up the amazing work.
