Texas WR Xavier Worthy
Junior 6’1 172 lbs
The Longhorns had its best season since the Vince Young & Colt McCoy eras. This was arguably their best chance to win it all since the Rose Bowl Championship. QB Quinn Ewers showed flashes of his high potential & superstar WR Xavier Worthy balled out. Statistically, Worthy hasn’t put the same numbers as his Freshman season, but he definitely bounced back from a rough Sophomore slump. He still needs to clean up some drops. With that being said, he has elite game changing speed. He reminds scouts of Jameson Williams & it wouldn’t be surprising if he runs the fastest 40 at the NFL Combine.

That extra gear, pulling away, is reminiscent of Jamaal. I can see that. But Jamaal was not a cutter. He could just bend and brake faster than anybody who could keep up with him. To stop him turning the corner, the defender would have to commit and run all-out and as soon as Jamaal got that, he could slam the brakes and get inside.
But it was more of an acceleration/braking-battle thing than a Barry Sanders ankle-breaking cut. This kid is more of a cutter than Jamaal was, and, as others have pointed out, Jamaal was a whole lot heavier than Worthy. 199 lbs versus 160-something. Over 30 lbs lighter, as I now see others have already pointed out.

Actually he gets hurt because of his weight, he does not run good routes, and he catches with he’s body. I honestly believe he should have stayed another and got better and his stock would have been better tooo with he’s speed. He did not do much last season because he got hurt which he got hurt the year before that too… he is not a steal..
@@mkingadifferncehe had over 1’000 yards receiving and was our leading receiver. Had an ankle injury in the CC game which held him out approximately zero games. I think he maybe missed one game in his three year career so yeah that’s complete nonsense. He runs fantastic routes as well which is why he’s open in the intermediate passing game so often. Hands can be suspect and he’s not a contested catch guy but the other parts of this are false.

Look at de’anthony thomas, John ross, Tavon austin. None were bad at all in college but in the NFL was different. Could be the same for him could not

I had pull up after that 40 time!
He ran a 4.25 on his first run and easily could've mailed it in. He came back and not only ran his second time, but ties John Ross' all time 4.22 mark. This kid just planted himself firmly into the 1st round, after being a fringe 1st to mid 2nd rounder. Dude is hella legit as a receiver, and got serious balls to pull this off at the combine.

He definitely improved his stock, but this class is LOADED with WR & OL id be shocked if he goes rd1.. id bet mid 2nd/ early 3rd.
@2013HotNewMusic think Andy Reid and the Chiefs. If he gets in the mid 20s, I think they'll go up and get him. They haven't replaced Tyreek Hill's speed since trading him to Miami. Besides, after Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas who are 1st round locks, Keon Coleman who was thought to have been a first round projection had a poor showing at the combine. Worthy can slide into that 5th best or even move up as the 4th best receiver in the 1st round.
@@MusicManSeanB Off top of my head I'm additionally taking Ladd, Mitchell & Franklin over him. Receiver wise I think he would've been #4 at Washington Huskies cuz prior to the 40 I was more intrigued with Polk than him.
I know a few teams might reach now but. I wouldn't consider it a "lock". hopefully my bengals learned that lesson from John Ross (who IMO was a better receiver than Worthy too).
@@2013HotNewMusic Ross problem was he couldn't stay healthy, not the fact that he couldn't play. Besides his speed, he had hands and could run the route tree coming out of Washington. If you think about it, Ross has a career 15.4 yards per catch average in 37 career games. His best season in 2018, he had a line of 28/506/18.3/3, in only 8 games that season. We've only got to see a sample size of Ross due to injuries. I feel if not for injuries he would've been special.
@@MusicManSeanB I wanted ross to work badly. However when he wasn't injured he was running bad routes, and looking like he never seen a playback. He didn't do any better when he left town. Got him instead of Mahomes/ Cupp so I'll never forget the burn of that bust.
With that said he better than Worthy was, and I can't ever recall Ross getting ran down from behind like Worthy does so I guess all 4.2's are built differently.
On paper he sends like a good fit for the chiefs, but so did Toney, Hardeman, etc.
