On 4 May 2024, a man was allegedly killed by a mob in Punjab's Ferozepur over allegedly committing sacrilege at a Gurdwara. This is the 15th sacrilege-linked death in Punjab since 2015. As per the SGPC, over 400 incidents of sacrilege have happened in the Sikh majority state since 2013.
