    Proteins play countless roles throughout the biological world, from catalyzing chemical reactions to building the structures of all living things.
    Despite this wide range of functions all proteins are made out of the same twenty amino acids, but combined in different ways. The way these twenty amino acids are arranged dictates the folding of the protein into its unique final shape. Since protein function is based on the ability to recognize and bind to specific molecules, having the correct shape is critical for proteins to do their jobs correctly.

    For this sort of didactic work, which is rather complex and difficult, the author would do best in chosing a reader who can speak slowly and pronounce his words clearly. This is nearly brain wrecking to understnd at first visionning, and when you get to the end the first time, you have by necessity had to go over the video at least five times, just to understand ONCE. This speed talking is just what is absolutely unbearable on videos - plus the music indeed is too loud and does not add anything to the quality of the didactic content : on the opposite, it takes away audibility and comprehension. Authors, please, heed, when you are making these otherwise interesting videos. Thank you.
    Thanks for the effort and good continuation in video making,
    MMEJones

    Funny how Carboxyl and Amino Groups make the polymerized Chains that form a Protein, while Deoxyribose Sugar and Phosphate Group make the Backbones that form DNA. All as, respectively, the Amino Acid's Side Chain gives a Protein it's Properties while the Nucleoside's Nitrogeneous Base (it's 'side chain') records it's Information.
    ... that will later be used (via Codons) to select for the Protein's Properties.
    Is it not then possible to make the conjecture that Life, as distinct from mere 'clockwork' Physics, is a self-sustaining Chemical System that inserts into the chain of emergent properties in the Universe a means for using Information to Select for the Variability and Emergence of such Properties.

    one thing i cant understand is that there are only 20 amino acids and our body has millions of proteins ...then how can only 20 amino acids make sucha large number of proteins

    • @psuedonym9999
      @psuedonym9999 Před 6 lety +1

      The amino acids can link together to form chains of at least 100 amino acids long, and it's possible to form longer chains. This, combined with the shape & folding of the protein, and the order of the amino acids in the protein, provides a long list of combinations.
      To make things easier to explain, take a dipeptide. As the name suggests, it has 2 amino acids in it. 20^2 = 400. So there can be 400 dipeptides using the amino acids that are necessary in the human body. Do the same thing with 100 amino acids in a chain, and you get 20^100 = 1.267651e+130 = 1.267651 * 10^130. 10^130 is 1 followed by *130* zeros!
