  • Driving my favorite truck in the fleet. Its the old GMC C6000. This is a pretty easy truck to drive, actually.
This truck is powered by a GMC 366 big block. "Big Block Power!!!" and has a 4 speed and a single speed rear end. Yes, it's geared low and about 55 is all you are gonna do. She drinks fuel (around 4-6 MPG). Is it fun to drive? I think so, but I like old trucks. It's really a shame we can't run old diesels here in California. I'd love to drive an old Brigadier or GMC General.
Do I do everything right with this truck? Probably not, I just try to be gentle and use common sense.

This truck would benefit with a gear venders o/d unit, you could run yet a shorter rear end ratio and have the o/d unit geared to like 1:1.33 or 1:1.25
Edit : ik this is a manual, I'm just saying they could run a shorter ratio and still have a enough gearing from the o/d unit to get at least get to like 60mph

Quick stupid question, do you have to have CDLS to drive this truck ????

As long as it doesn't have air brakes, and is under 26,000 then technically no. But if you are using it in a commercial sense then yes. So depends what you are using it for.

Even with air brakes no cdl required. Unless the gwvr is over 26k
