Season 3 Episode 6, "Christmas special": Liz's (Tina Fey) parents ditch her to celebrate the holidays at a couples-only retreat, leaving her all alone for the holiday. To fill the void, she participates in a charity program to help underprivileged kids have a nice Christmas. Meanwhile, Jack (Alec Baldwin) takes his frustration out on the TGS staff when his plans for a dream holiday vacation away from his overbearing mother, Colleen (guest star Elaine Stritch), are crushed.

Jack claims to be the ultimate alpha male, but the minute his mother walks into the room, he completely withers. He is, on the inside, a mamas boy who is desperate for approval. Apparently, this is all too true for everyone on the TGS crew.
Typical for most self proclaimed alpha males.
Always makes me laugh, because in my industry an "Alpha" model is the trash version of a piece of software that will never see the light of day because it's riddled with problems.
I really agree with this comment. Makes me think people in corporate or on tv have similar mindsets. Always needing approval.
