This clip epitomizes the pervasive absence of meritocracy in the appointment of top executives within Kenyan government parastatals. The evident lack of emphasis on research and development (R&D) further exacerbates the issue, as highlighted by the inability of the KenGen boss to provide a coherent response when questioned on the matter. The provision of laptops to employees for research purposes on platforms like TikTok and CZcams only adds insult to injury, trivializing the critical role of innovation and expertise in advancing the energy sector in Kenya. Such practices not only undermine the sector's potential for growth and development but also raise serious concerns about its long-term sustainability and competitiveness in the global market.

Why not invest in HVDC rather than using thermal

I think there is a misconception of independent power distributors supplying power directly to customers. It's not like Ken Gen is going to supply power by building their own power lines and using their own power lines to bring power, they are still going to use the same inefficient power lines owned by KP and Ketraco. I wish there was clarity on this?

the engineer didn't want to confirm that a shortage of power generation is designed to allow IPPs be in business.
then these often black out are someone work so the Government can engage in a project where some people will steal monies.
Another thing is what is the different tribes percentage of employees in kengen olkaria.
these cost figures of drilling wells are actually fictitious and he knows how the process goes where 75% of these money is actually budgetted corruption.
    engineer watu wanajua mengi sasa.

I wish there were questions on nuclear power, does Kengen have any role in the development of the same?

Am shocked that the CEO of kengen is justifying the existence of IPPS. Instead of thinking how he would put them out business which is within his scope and save kenyas consumers

@ Ng'ang'a, you can't entertain such wild dreams. These the type of investors who understand the waters and ensure that they are adequately protected. Unless you do not need your job.
