#Japan #NintendoSwitch #Puzzle - Hry
I picked it up. It's a fun little game, not much better than many phone games. But honestly, it doesn't need to be. There are luckily no ads or pay-to-win trash built in, so that is a win in my book. It's also quite difficult to get to the watermelon. So very addictive as well.
This is pretty addictive and it’s relaxing too. Definitely recommended as a cozy little title.
for some reason this game is really popping up in Japan it's sold more than 1 mil already, because it's relaxing and addictive and with cheap price tag maybe. and I like the fact the company who made this is not even a video game company they just made the game for additional service for the projectors they primarily make n sale. interesting phenomenon.
for a long time it was only availible in the japanese eshop, so this could be westerners buying the game through their eshop. I know i did when i wanted to play it after seeing a load of streamers play it,
@@DaRkLoRd-rc5yu Not anymore, it's just been officially released in English!
"For some reason"
Ever heard of Vtubers?
I know a lot of people figured out the japanese eshop thing just for this game
"For some reason"
Hololive is the reason
Yes. It's fantastic! Easy to understand and fun to try and master.
The Halloween update changed the physics for the cherries making them heavier and easier to plunk down low.
At $2.99 it’s a no brainer for me; it’s cute and fun!
I've been playing this on and off. It reminds me a bit of Tetris, but old school Tetris, where you're not guaranteed the piece you need will come anytime soon, and as a result encounter long dry spells that can destroy even the best advance planning. That, in addition to the way fruit explodes and the somewhat wonky physics, make strategizing a frustrating experience. I do enjoy this game in short bursts, but it inevitably sends me scurrying back to Tetris.
With Tetris Effect: Connected having so many modes (the more recently added "endless Purify" mode being a particular favorite of mine), there's simply always something there to more fully scratch the itch that this game only partially reaches. For the price, this game is pretty good. If the devs continue to work on it, refining the randomization methods and adding more modes, it could be great. For now, I'll enjoy a few rounds here and there, then go back to my Tetris.
You might like tetris the grandmaster, even though its harder then clasic tetris it still has a random randomizer
Pure randomness is
1) A thing Japanese players love. Removing it from them makes them see it as another "Skill Game" - where one's fun is entirely reliant on one's skill. Believe it or not, while it's fun for them to watch in the eSports scene, most Japanese gamers aren't a fan of that.
2) What makes games like this addicting. If a game has guaranteed drops, "miracles" aren't miracles. And for many (not all) gamblers, getting that "miracle" effect is what keeps them going.
@@mrdocena8082 While I get your second point in that there are people who enjoy gambling and/or luck based gaming experiences (I keep "Four Kings Casino" installed on my Switch to scratch that very itch), I'm curious what you base your first point on. I ask because it runs counter to literally everything I know about Japanese culture and gaming.
Just for kicks, I looked up the 100 best selling video games in Japan last year. Only two (Pokemon and Mario Party) are games I would consider largely luck based. Which means 98 of the 100 most popular video games in Japan last year had little to do with luck.
The reality is, for most gamers in general, while a little bit of luck in games can be thrilling, and playing games that rely largely on luck can be enjoyable in shorter bursts, sitting down to play a luck based game for hours on end leads to more frustration than joy. For most of us, there's more joy to be found in making true progression in a game and slowly getting better at it than there is in alternating between the joy found from lucky RNG and the anger/disappointment that results from unlucky RNG. The same seems to hold true for Japanese players - at least the majority of them.
As an end note: even the games most similar to this one which are relatively popular in Japan (classic Tetris and Tetris the Grandmaster, both of which rely more on RNG than other Tetris games) are prized not for the times when you get lucky, but for the times when you don't, because it takes more skill to overcome incredibly bad luck. But both of those games are built in such a way as to allow players with high enough skill levels to overcome bad luck. As it currently stands, Suika (the watermelon game) doesn't do that. It's too reliant on luck, both due to the randomness of piece generation and the somewhat wonky physics. Which is why I said the game's popularity could last *if* the devs put in the work to make it slightly less luck based. Otherwise, this game is doomed to be a brief novelty trend, which imo is why it's priced accordingly.
Maybe I'm wrong, and a year from now we'll see large groups of players in Japan still playing this game every day. But I doubt it. It's too simple and luck based to be fun for that long.
I saw this on the Eshop, but I thought it was one of those 'meh' mobile game ports.
After watching this, I am seriously considering picking it up!
Your life quality will increase by 100% once you buy it
Just picked it up since it was on sale without checking review. Tbh I havent stopped since, love the game 😂
I bought this at Christmas time, very addictive and challening. Love it. The music is chill, puts my dog to sleep.
Been playing this for a while now, quick, fun little game to play handheld on the go! It's been super popular in Japan for quite a while
Ahh yes, my oshi's short-lived obsession.
A few of my oshi's too. One got frustrated and wanted to make it to 3000 points and had to stop due to chat noticing she was getting extremely tired and telling her to go to bed
My oshi's as well... Except she's been sneaking Suika Game into quite a few of the other streams she does lately lol
...Was it Calli?@@avalanche1990
Yeah okay, I think I'll get this. Cute looking and relaxing is exactly what you need sometimes!
Edit: Finally got it. Addicting af.
Suika Game 99 Would go crazy
It would need a lot of rebalancing first. Any type of multiplayer competitive puzzle game that leaves so much up to RNG is bound to frustrate more then enthrall. Even modern Tetris forces each piece to appear every so often, rather than rely on true randomization like old school Tetris.
This is the most addicting game I have played in years, it’s simple, charming, relaxing and cheap. I can’t stop myself from saying “one more” 😂 I don’t like mobile games but something about this just puts me in a zen state
Definitely gonna have to pick this one up
Wait did they release this on the US eshop? I just bought this on the Japan eshop not long ago
a few minutes to kill.... yes...of course. totally didnt play this for 4 hours at a time. (shifty eyes)
Yeah, I'll be picking it up. It's cute and pleasant. There are copycat games around and none of them quite have suika game's physics.
Its basicly a good mobile game but without junk ads or microtransactions (at least right now)
Thanks to probably hololive English for us getting this game outside of japan!
This one of those perfect games to play while hearing a podcast or a video in the background.
are this game can be download in smartphone or tablet or pc?
I've see a handful of people talk about this game in their "Game of the Year" discussions, maybe I'll check it out as well, seems very cute.
I just kinda wish there was like a co-op/online versus mode to see who can get the highest score but then it would need to be much more expensive so I'll take this for now
When I saw this at the top of the best selling games I bought it sight unseen. I figured it would be a silly game and I was right. Simple to play, hard to control, but very relaxing and fun.
I have it on my Switch and my iPad and really enjoy it.
Unrelated but I need the Turbografx/PC Engine version of Devil's Crash as well. I miss that game so much.
Uh... what?😂
Got it with gold points so kinda a no brainer, and I love a good puzzle game
Literally just put my Gold Points to this. Glad to have found something to use them on.
A similar game is available on Android, only with cats instead of fruit. 😸
`Cats are Cute: Pop Time`
A nice little game. Recommended.
Does this game ever go on sale?
looks like something id buy for offline game play on an airplane if it went on sale
This game was exclusive to Japan. And now is released to North America.
My kids stopped playing Splatoon, Mario Wonder, Pikmin and Sonic…now all they want to play is Suika Game.
i think i have $3 of gold points on my eshop account rn, i know what i’ll be doing with it!
Saving it for Mina the Hollower?
@@sparkypack lol i forgot about that game and i already bought suika >_<
i’ll get it eventually tho, mina does look great!
@@NebulaStorm yeah, I think it will be spooktastic 🎃🐁🎃..
a few minutes to kill??? I've been watching people play this for hours in the past week, it's just addictive, fun, and relaxing to look at falling fruit~ I bought it with the remaining yen I had in the Japanese eshop (#1 seller there this past week) and play it before bedtime.
Mate you’re gonna be insomniac 😂
Such a relaxing game.
Did Felix catch a bit of a cold, or am I mishearing?
yeah, he doesn't seem himself at the moment.
just downloaded the free trial on switch. its great! i want to buy halloween stage! wish i could take the music off
game of the year contender for sure
So underrated!
The fact that the music loop stops mid game is horrifying
Saw Suika and thought *"Suikoden?!"*
...then I saw _watermelon_ and became sad.
I immediately got it with gold points after watching this. Let's see if it's worth it.
My brother has been watching streams of this game and we've been playing it on the browser for free. Its definitely a little different looking than this, I quite like how this looks. Unsure how to keep track of scores on the browser version. Pretty fun, not something I would really play a ton but my brother likes it.
It’s like a reverse gameplay of Irisu Syndromes Metsu Mode, neat
Before I watch, I gotta say: yes it's worth it 😂
A little lovely relaxing game😊
Glad I waited on importing this, I was close to doing this assuming it would never be localized. lol
Also glad they updated it and gave it an English translation.
After seeing this now I wish Trash Panic (PS3) was on the Switch.
Feels like shovel ware :I
For $3, it’s so addictive omg
Glad we got this in the west!
7/10 is too low. I would've gave it a 15/10
This game is highly addictive.
this one of the rare few games where it follows the idea "easy to play, hard to master"
This is a cute and easygoing game!
Except when a fruit accidentally goes flying over the top of the playing field and the game counts it as a loss, f**k that f**king f**k s**t f**k
no mtx? I've heard enough, I am satisfied
For 3 dollars? This is awesome.
it looks good :o
This is basically Bag It
Ha ha, a few minutes sometimes become hours. Don't start the game when you only have a few minutes 🤣
This is the perfect podcast game! I don’t care about the music much!
Addictive and should be ashamed of itself for being so!
also there is a Halloween Mode !!
Okay now review Garden Guardian
11/10 game!!!!
From royal pear
Few minutes to kill? I haven’t seen anyone play for less than 5 hours at a time.
Buying it today 5.99 Ps4
I got this with my gold points, worth it
It looks like puyo puyo
For it's price it's hard to not be worth it
can someone make this for steam PLS
There are a few clones you can just play on a browser for free. Best one I've seen is Hololive Suika Game, just search google for it.
I feel like this is so popular cuz of Ludwig at least in the states
Who is Ludwig?
@@Kalculonpopular CZcamsr/streamer
That, CdawgVA (Connor), and Vtubers like Hololive EN
The faces on the fruit reminds me of that Cooking Companions horror game 😂
Three bucks. How much does crack cost these days, I wouldn't know, but that's a good deal if you ask me.
Seems like it would hold my attention for about an hour, and then I'll have wished I'd saved the $3 instead. Glad people are enjoying it, but it's a pass for me.
unironically GOTY
Nijisanji, Hololive and Vshojo right now are losing their minds cause of this game and some Big twitch and CZcams streamers are losing their minds losing this game.
7/10 feels a tad mean to be honest. For the asking price, this is very satisfying.
It’s super cheap but there’s not much to do, it’s got like… one game mode doesn’t it? 7/10 is a fair review to me
7/10 is actually a bit on the high side, imo. There's literally one game mode, and there's a lot to be desired in terms of the game's balance. With a bit more work from the devs it could potentially be a 7/10 game, but right now that's pushing it for a novelty game whose addiction will soon wear off.
7/10 isn't even a bad score, anyway. Everyone acts like it is, but it's really not.
Chop Sui
i think the reason it was so poorly received overseas was due to the fact that there is NO PHYSICAL COPY. At least, on Amazon.
It's a 3 bucks game, the dev is not gonna invest in a physical copy. LOL
My personal opinion, though, it's more popular in Japan because a ton of Japanese Vtubers were playing the game and competing the scores amongst themselves, which in turn caused the game to pick up steam before getting noticed by more people outside of Japan and ultimately getting localised. But even then, the game is still rather niche and mostly known by those who watch VTubers, so the game still appears as one of those cheap, mobile-like games that flood the eShop to most people.
ahh. very true@@oak8194
catDespair LALALALALALA
This game is the video game equivalent of crack.
TOTALLY WORTH GUYS
All I want is ad free games when I pay for them. Simple as that. Mobile games have become horrible in that sense. You get pay-upgrades, ads, coins, you name it.
It’s one of the various reasons I like games on Nintendo. You pay for them, and you are done.
:D
It's essentially just a slightly different version of Bust a Move...But internet hype sells silly games. Looks boring to me, Mr. Unpopular Opinion.
I think it's a mix of internet hype and people who don't play much within this genre, and aren't aware (or don't really care) that better examples exist. The hype will die down within a month or two. At least this game is priced fairly for the novelty that it is. It's "leftover eshop credit" priced, which definitely helps with sales.
This game is actually pretty good
this game looks more like a mobile game
I can't be the only one getting angry at the gameplay whilst listening to the review
fruitastic!
suika deez
Tetris copy😂
Thanks for the review. Saw this posted online and wasn't sure. After seeing this I think it's definitely worth stealing.
Tetris boring game
