    I saw several CZcams videos showing Scout Inflatables offshore fishing in California (Adventures with Oside Kayak Guy). I even saw these being used as rib tender dinghy boats for Yachts. I saw the durability, versatility, and portability....AND I HAD TO BUY ONE! I didn't get it free, but I got a small discount because of the channel & sharing video with you. Knowing what I know now I am hooked on the inflatable skiff life! It can be used with my 6hp Yamaha four stroke outboard, my lightweight Bixpy Jet lithium based motor, or any trolling motor like Minn Kota. It is incredibly lightweight and can be stored in a closet and transported in compact cars. A must have for condo owner, yacht owner, apartment owner, or those with minimal storage options in the city. No need for a trailer yet this skiff can take your small family out on adventures or fishing. I'm excited to share this with you and plan to do more excursions on it. I'm thinking some more fishing, crabbing, spearfishing, and overnight island survival challenges would be fun! I didn't see this happening. I didn't think my favorite watercraft would be an inflatable!

      I think it is around $1499 and you will get $149 off with promo code “kayakdiy”.
      They likely sold out because everywhere I go with it people are stopping me and asking where to buy one. Two guys at gas station held me up for 30mins talking about it. People at the beach wanted one. Heck even my neighbor is considering ordering one for his larger boat. Everyone seems to like how easy it is to transport/carry, paddle, and power via smaller outboards. They were impressed how well a 6hp made it fly. I didn’t GPS speed test it, but I’m confident I easily hit 15mph to 20mph. I used it all day and put maybe 10-15 miles on it without refilling the small internal gas tank. I will try to get more accurate numbers, but so far I’m impressed. Pairing the Scout 430 with a Bixpy makes it an even more crazy lightweight adventure package. Just so many options and ways to rig it. No boat ramps or trailers needed. Opportunities are endless. I’m thinking I could maybe use our van to stealth camp in the florida keys and take this boat along. Save me big bucks over $$$ Florida Keys hotels. Heck they even make a tent kit for the Scout 365. I’m hoping they make a tent for the Scout 430, but until then I’m making my own. The floor is essentially an air mattress. 😎🤙
      Also, BTW I was able to operate the Scout 430 on about 25-30% PSI inflation pressure in order to simulate emergency/leak and returning home. I will try to remember to film that for future vids. However, the hull is pretty dang durable so not that worried about leaks.

    This looks just like the 14ft Saturn Kaboat my brother used to have. We had some good times with that boat, some old videos are still on my channel. Ran it with a Nissan 9.9hp, a chinese 3.5hp and also a minn kota 40lb. It really moved out with that 9.9! Also we rowed and kayaked it, such a versatile boat. He even bought a bimni top for it off ebay. Glad to see another maker selling boats like this.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +3

      Only difference I saw between the Kaboat and Scout was some hardware/tie dow mounts, seat design, and hull durability. Kaboat is same hull shape and concept, but Scout kinda kicked it up a notch so I went with them. Saturn has other bigger model boats with “heavy duty” package options for more durability….but they don’t offer that in the Kaboat. Scout has really thick underside and I feel more confident taking it out in areas with sharp rocks and oysters.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před rokem +2

      Scout430 uses stronger fabric, it is bit dryer ride, and I like the transom better than the Sea Eagle Paddleski. I know several dive teams that use Scout Inflatable boats. I just trust it way more and it is proven to be reliable for me and SEVERAL of my friends. I think at least 7 friends and family members of mine own them. I paid for my boat. The only benefit I get from making this video is if people use my promo code it helps earn the channel a small commission. However, I believe I’m still quite non-bias. Channel my size typically could have asked for free boat, to be paid $1000-2000, and to earn commission on top for product placement. I’m technically under compensated based on advertising value I provide to Scout. I’m cool with that though because I love the product and regardless want to share it with my viewers. I do like Sea Eagle products, but in this comparison I feel Scout wins.

      @@KayakDIYI love my Sea Eagle Paddleski's.
      My original one, the 435ps is 15 years old this season. Without exaggerating, it has been used over 500 times at more than 150 different locations. It's never been patched!
      Transported via sedan and inflated and deflated after each use.
      I have a Torqeedo 1003s lithium motor which is equal to a 3HP gas motor. Either Paddleski model, the motor and boating accessories fit in my sedan's trunk.
      I got the newer Paddleski 437ps when it came out and I put up the first CZcams video on it. It is a better motor boat and a better fishing boat than the older 435ps. As I like to do a lot of kayaking, the 435ps has better paddling performance.
      I loved my 435ps when it was discontinued a few years ago, I looked to buy another as a spare in case.....I wore it out! So I found one 10 years newer, and I now have 3 Paddleski boats.

  • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242

    I looks similar to my Sea Eagle Paddleski and similarly priced. The Paddleski 437ps is also a very narrow Zodiac style inflatable that fits in your car's trunk. It includes more comfortable swivel seats and many options. It takes up to a 6HP motor, and has some kayaking ability for short distances in calm weather. I prefer facing forward kayaking vs rowing.
    My older model Paddleski 435ps is 15 years old and has been around at least 20. The older model is a better kayak, and the newer model a better motor boat. I have both models.
    Made in the USA. Sea Eagle has specialized only in inflatable boats since 1968 is very well known. Tons of CZcams videos and info on their boats and kayaks. Check them out.
    In 2014 I flew my Paddleski 435ps for free on Southwest Airlines to the Florida Keys as luggage, and I took my Sunfish style sail rig for it too. No motors allowed on planes obviously.

      It inflates easily manually with included foot pump in about 4-5mins. Very little effort.
      With that electric pump it is easier yet and can go from the bag to the water in probably 2mins.
      Entire 14’ boat easily fits inside a car trunk or back seat. I absolutely love it. I bought the Scout 430 because we have limited storage at our home and I needed a skiff after selling my fiberglass one i built.
      Definitely a great choice for RV owners, condo owners, compact car owners, and others who need portability.
      The other aspect that is nice about it is how lightweight it is. No more lugging around a 100+ pound kayak when I can easily carry this under one arm. If you don’t want to carry it inflated a basic cart can be made from PVC and wheels….like mine.

      Full Disclaimer: I can usually get kayaks and gear free for review on the channel. However, I agreed to pay Scout $700 for the boat and $900 for a used Yamaha 6hp on FB marketplace. So I got the boat at a small discount. The company eventually will pay me a small commission but not for the first several sales. So I’m vested in the boat pretty significantly and don’t believe I’m too bias.
      THAT BEING SAID…now you know my potential bias. I FREAKING LOVE THIS BOAT! By far the easiest boat to own and use. Effortless to get on the water. No concerns on durability. The boat has 3 air chambers. I even ran the boat on 25-35% of rated PSI to simulate an emergency situation/leak. The material feels very durable. The hardware is solid. The accessories are super cool. The bottom hull is highly cut/abrasion resistant.
      No boat ramps, no trailers, no chiropractor visits, just fun on the water!

    So what happens when your inflatable boat gets bit by a shark or more commonly a fish with spines (and there are a lot of those) punctures your boat as it fights and flips around while you’re trying to land it. Then you land it and it spears the inside of your boat. Just saying because that happened to me on a lake. The spine of a perch punctured my 8 foot double hull inflatable raft. I barely made it to shore before it became impossible to row.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před rokem +1

      Sharks don’t eat boats regularly…that is more in Hollywood. This craft is made of more durable material than many rafts. Lots of inflatables are made of cheapo air mattress material. This boat is made of pretty dang thick 1100 denier PVC fabric 0.9mm. I have yet to puncture it. I have even hit pipes/metal debri at speed in river via my boat and 6hp. Friend in Cali was able to puncture a tube and he fished offshore for another 2hrs before heading back in….he had an 8hp outboard on his! He patched it up and was back out next day. Heaven forbid you somehow puncture a hole it doesn’t just immediately deflate. It also has redundancy via 3 air chambers and self bailing deck. So even in case of somehow getting bad puncture you just lean on opposite side and motor back. I feel more safe offshore in my Scout 430 than many fiberglass boats. I paid for this boat it wasn’t just given to me…so I’m not bias.

      @KayakDIY  Před 2 lety +2

      Ok well your loss. Apparently you haven’t been on many rib style boats. Rib boats can be skinny and have stability due to hull shape. It is rock solid. We climb in and out of them with heavy scuba gear. Two of my friends bought them shortly after coming out on mine. While motoring you will likely need the grab bar to stand safely…that is largely due to flex in the air floor creating feeling of instability. However, the boat has never caused me concern with flipping. With an outboard it would be very hard to flip the boat. While stopped I can stand and fish from it all day. My wife, kid, and dog even came out on it with me (got pics/vids on Instagram).

      I do diving regularly and I can already tell this would work excellent. What I would do is inflate BC and put it overboard then clip to side of boat….Then get into BC from the water. Same thing when it comes to getting into boat at end of dive…take BC off while inflated, clip to side of boat…get in…and then pull gear in. “Adventures With A Purpose” CZcams channel uses the Scout 430 for search and rescue. I believe they crammed 4 adults on it for body recovery missions. If folks decide they want one of these boats we negotiated a pretty decent discount for viewers….promo code “kayakdiy”.
      So stoked to continue using this craft. Just found some guy dumping foxy mate crab traps….. going to try crabbing from it. Then maybe some dive adventures. Did you have to register the boat because your using an outboard motor ? I wanted to get one but not with a outboard motor just a 30lbs electric trolling motor

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 2 lety

      Typically anytime you put an outboard or a trolling motor on a watercraft you must register. Registering was totally worth it. I now have outboards and trolling motors I can use on it. So much fun. In fact I want to buy another one so visiting family and friends can go out. I comfortably have had my wife, 3yr old daughter, dog, and myself on the Scout 430. I have more pics and videos on my Instagram.

    Can you use this in ocean environment. I'm concerned with muscle shells on beach puncturing the hull. Even Zodiac recommends gluing on protection against muscle shells.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m around razor sharp oysters. I live on saltwater. My waterfront house seawall is full of sharp oysters. I try to avoid those areas, but have hit them before and can’t even see any signs of damage. The hull is pretty dang durable. Never have had a hull leak or puncture/tear. The bottom of boat is really quite thick. I use my Scout 430 100% in ocean and saltwater environment. So far the best boat I have ever purchased. Love it.

      Feels more durable than my buddies Kaboat. Also I like the seat design, the accessories the Scout Boats have, and bung valve setup. Very close to Kaboats in general though.

      I leave it tied up for days sometimes next to my dock which is covered in oysters. I also have hit tons of underwater obstructions at speed while running the brackish rivers. NO TEARS NO HOLES! Easy to patch if I had to, but so far insanely durable. I also often leave it outside in florida heat with UV sun exposure (don't recommend...but I do it).

    Saturn has been selling these for years, the Kaboat, and are much cheaper, half the price compared to these.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +1

      Scouts are built a bit more durable than the Saturn Kaboats from what I have seen. For instance when I compared the two the Scout boats looked to have a much more reinforced durable bottom. I also preferred the bench design and other features on the Scout over the Saturn Kaboat. That being said if those things don’t matter to you then maybe the Kaboat would work for you. I often go to areas with sharp shells and oysters so I opted for the Scout. The hull designs/shape are otherwise highly similar.

      @@KayakDIY if you could get your hands on a comparable Kaboat, I’d love to see a comparison video. I’ve been looking at inflatables/ribs/Kaboats really hard for the past months since selling my kayaks and there’s so many choices and not a lot of videos on them.

    it may be half the price of my hobie outback, 3 more ft in length, and has the transom to mount an outboard.
    but I'm just not keen on fishing on something that counts on air to float. no hard floor, way to mount extra poles, and I carry 6 of them and a landing net.
    if someone just has the brains to make one that's hard plastic for even a thousand more. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. but for now, I'll keep researching and pass on this.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah! The Scout 365 model currently has a tent. I want to try making one for the Scout 430. I might use the Scout 365 tent and modify it to fit the Scout 430. Check out their website. It looks pretty awesome.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 2 lety +1

      The tent very tightly fit over most of my Scout 430. However, the tent isn't designed for the 430. The Scout tent accessory is designed for the 365 boat. I believe I uploaded an instagram post showing the Scout 430 with the Scout 365 tent attached.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m running a 6hp Yamaha 4-stroke short shaft.
      I will do more videos on this boat. I will explain some of my setups and why I made those particular choices. I’m super excited to get it out again. Perfect skiff for our family. I own a center console offshore boat, but this is my everything else boat. Heck it certainly runs cheap on fuel unlike my offshore boat….I was out all day buzzing around islands for probably under $5. Haha. I didn’t have to re-fill the internal outboard tank. I had to have done 10-15 miles. I’m going to gather more data and info on it the more I use it. I even got a tent setup so I can likely sleep on it. The company sells a tent for their shorter boat. I am going to try a few tent options on this Scout 430. The floor is essentially a dang air mattress. I’m gonna sleep like a baby between islands.

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Před 3 lety +1

      Can fit up to 4 people. 3 adults is max and bit cramped. 2 adults and gear easily fit. 2 adults and 2 kids is possible. Paddle it or motorize it….it is the ultimate kayak alternative in my opinion. Freaking love it. My neighbor saw it and plans to buy one. At gas station yesterday a few crowded around and another said he wanted to buy one. Get a lot of attention when I launch at beach. No boat ramps needed, no trailer needed, and yet can travel 20 miles + easily. It is way more durable and better built than the Kaboats I looked at. So glad I pulled the trigger and bought one. It will be nice for Van camping the Florida Keys/Key West….don’t need my truck. BIG FAN!

    You aren't wearing a life jacket or inflatable PFD. Also, for the same money, you can buy a Zodiac Cadet 270 inflatable. The Zodiac has larger 17" tubes and a 5' beam for better stability. Regardless, a Scout boat is still a boat and using it without wearing a life jacket especially when you are solo is just asking for trouble.

    You have to go... in person... to register a boat in Florida?
    What medieval barbary is this? In Virginia you go online, give them the HIN, pay your reg fees, and they give you your number. You'd think a place with as many boats as Florida would be even more efficient and advanced than VA.

      I talked with some Florida FWC officers on the beach and I know USCG officers. I just needed registration, life jacket, flares, and sound device such as a whistle/air horn. I had that stuff in a small dry bag. I move it between my boats.

      The problem is previous owner of my house made my lawn a mixture of Bahia and St Augustine grass. The sprinker system is a dang mess. I trenched front yard and laid new but then other pipes broke. Weed/weed & feed kill one or the other so I can’t use them. . I can’t afford to resod right now. I have a dock/boat lift project and other priorities. This house is a million times better than when we bought 5yrs ago. We have made a ton of progress.
