I honestly think that too many kh fans forget that sora is a kid still.
They also partly forget that he is one year less in development when he was recovering his memories.

Sometimes it's kinda hard to remember he's still mentally a 14 year old... Kid's going on 17 by now and he's missed so much...
When you think about it, before ReMind, he only remembers the last aproximately 4 Months since getting his Keyblade. Everyone else in the cast has been going on a year and a half by this point...
Kid's had it ROUGH, man...
He's actually very likely 16 by now while mentally 15.
But yeah i think it's overlooked the fact that in his POV most of the things happen really close to each other, the biggest break being the end of KH2 that may just have been like 2 weeks.

I love how its somewhat serious, typical KH plot stuff at the beginning of Halloween Town, but then the second Sora realizes he can meet Santa he just disregards everything else happening in the plot and is just focused on meeting Santa like "Oh yeah, the heartless, that too" 😂
I don't blame him, if I found out I could meet hecking Santa Claus then I'd beeline straight for him too.
Since getting the Keyblade, Sora has lost his home at one point, he was betrayed by his friends, was hunted down by creatures of darkness and by people who controlled them, endured physical and mental trauma, lost a year of his life, got involved in a madman's plan for world destruction, saw the love of his life struck down before him AND gave up his existence just to save her.
And he experiences all of this WITH A HUGE SMILE ON HIS FACE!
If I was in his shoes, I would gave given up at that point

Oh ! But he does. Look closely to the moments he cracks and loses the smile or the silliness. The sadness runs as deep as his frown during those moments.
There is also the fact Roxas himself is Sora's worst traits personified, though tamer compared to other Nobodies. They both share the same anger.

He is not proud or empathetic towards others, but quite the opposite, humble, putting the good before the bad.

I want the fourth game to ramp up soras character development. He has defeated massive bosses, which should be more powerful than him, but he always wins. He is more powerful than all the forces in the galaxy yet he still seems to be clueless, and needs to be directed than people smarter than him at every turn. It’s been such a long journey, with so much struggle, yet he still has the temperament of a child. I want a badass and mature sora. I want him to take the journey into his own hands. Also bring back traverse town for the fucking love of god.
It's obvious that you're forgetting the fact that he basically still has the mind of a 13-14 year old child, because he still IS a child. He's still a teenager, and unlike teens irl, he still has the mond of a child (as he should) also it's very obvious that school is not is his thing. Another thing, he literally lost his memory which means some of his maturity, along with his power being taken away too

okay so on the topic of soras age, this is how old he should be chronologically
it was confirmed that sora in kh1 is 14, then he sleeps in stasis for a little over a year making him 15 in kh2 and its implied that there's another year time skip between kh3D and kh3 which makes him 16, and then for the remind dlc its addressed that there was yet another 1 year time skip making sora 17 currently, but due to the amount of time he spent alseep he still kinda acts like he's 14-15 since he didnt really have any time to mentally age
There is no big time skip between KH2 and 3, he is 15 in KH3 officially confirmed in the KH3 Ultimania

And yet some KH fans keep forgetting that Sora is still a kid for Pete's sake.
I get the feeling Sora started suppressing his inner child whilst he was living on the islands with Riku and Kairi, partly to be more like Riku and partly to try and act cool around Kairi. But then he found himself living with Donald Duck and Goofy whilst travelling to all sorts of Disney worlds and gradually his inner child became louder and louder so that by the time we got to KH3 he was fully embracing it!
Riku, Roxas, and Aqua were forced into situations that made them grow up so fast. Responsibilities, danger, high stakes. Meanwhile, Sora, Kairi, and Ventus have been napping instead of growing up properly. I love the joke that "Sora can't count" because bro actually didn't go to school like Kairi did in KH2. He just wants to be a pirate and see robots, I can't help but love him ❤
