#soulsborne #ranking #eldenring - Hry
It's time to start a war. Today, we're ranking the Soulsborne games via their overall soundtracks! I get the feeling I'll need to avoid this comment section, but I hope you all find some enjoyment here! Let me know your favourite tracks down below~!
No war to be had Billy ;) My favorite is Bloodborne by far but it would be quite boring if we all agreed on that. Differing opinions make the world more interesting.
I'll just share my favorite OST from each game:
1 Demon's Souls (PS3): Old Hero
2 Demon's Souls (Remake): Tower Knight
3 Dark Souls: Manus, Father of the Abyss (who coincidentally also happens to be my favorite boss)
4 Dark Souls 2: Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon (probably my favorite OST in the entire Dark Souls trilogy)
5 Dark Souls 3: Nameless King
6 Bloodborne: Lady Maria (the thrash metal of orchestral music)
7 Sekiro: Great Shinobi Owl
8 Elden Ring: Godrick, the Grafted
Also, shoutout to Oblivion's soundtrack. It has so many soothing, peaceful tracks. Probably my second favorite soundtrack after Bloodborne.
From one I played
DS I - Gwyn
DS II - Raime (Fume Knight)
DS III - Old King of the Eclipse (not released), Gael (released)
Sekiro - Isshin
Elden Ring - Fortissax
@@LudwigZandso in short...u like the kinda boring and least varied soundtracks of fromsoft XD?? hell even ur favorite tracks from each game are gothic and dark, pretty much bb style except old hero.
my problem with bbs soundtrack is that its great on its own, but really its just one genre, gothic dark orchestra using the same musical scales in the entire album, on a music composition and talent level, bb is easily at the bottom of the list imo compared to musical composition masterpieces like elden ring and ds1, almost every song is completely different while in bb u can copy paste alot of songs around and it would work with the setting/boss pretty much.
We all should have known the bangers that dark souls 3 was gonna have when that intro music was hitting
I really thought bloodborne would be first place. The soundtrack absolutely amazing, but I guess that counts for all games.
bloodborne definitely deserves to be higher in my mind, up there with ds3
It is largely forgettable. But it isn’t bad
@@DetriaxLook, I'm am a massive hater of Bloodborne. But the soundtrack is godly bro.
It Suffers from what Bloodborne suffers from about everything, it has the best but also the modt forgettable/bad, same as the bosses for instance
Me as I click on this video: "Bloodborne at number one, let's go!"
Me after clicking on this video: *sees your comment as the comment shown below the video*
NOOOOOOOOO
A point you forgot to mention about Elden Ring, is the fact that there’s actual music playing while exploring. Not just during boss fights.
The Limgrave OST is already super nostalgic to me and has a special place in my heart. The music from the various regions suits them all so well. Liurnia’s music feels kinda mystical and wondrous. Caelid’s fits so well with the distorted, rotted world. And Leyndell’s feels grand and important. Etc.
Leyndell's music is just sooo good... and sad.
I genuinely prefer little to no music during exploration in games like these, of course it fits in sekiro and elden ring though
Leyndell, Elphael, and Altus Plateau are some of the best ambient tracks I’ve ever heard in a game. Also love that each of the regions have a different theme at night, really adds to the atmosphere.
nostalgic for a new game?
@@micklucas1451ahhha yessir. It’s maybe a bit weird, but yes, I already feel very nostalgic for this game. It is 2 years old tbf, but still.
Everybody is tough until they heard "plin plin plon"
Only in DS1. Plin plin plon in DS1 was the only boss track without full instrumentation in order to stress out Gwyn's downfall from a god to a lonely hollow. DS3 destroys the original meaning of the song giving it full instrumentation and serves only as a nostalgia bait.
@@Guy-iv2hwds 3 still sounds better
@@Rat-O-Tim Ah yes, electronic instruments that try to sound acoustic, but lack the dynamics and space, really beautiful sound of commercialized, fake symphonic music
@@Guy-iv2hw🤓
🤓 @@Guy-iv2hw
Are we not mentioning Owl Father's ost? Especially the first phase goes so incredibly hard, and when those drums start to ramp up I get so hyped
Stop reading my mind, I can't take it! That is why phase 1 of Father is superior to phase 2
yeah Sekiro OST sadly continues to be underappreciated. One day...
Sekiro ost is kinda awesome.
Divine dragon ost was my fav. Sekiro had the soundtrack it needed.
That and the demon of hatred.
Godricks boss music will always be one of my absolute favorites from any game
I like how the first part sounds like an f'd up version of Godfrey's theme, and then goes completely off the rails.
1- Elden ring
2- Dark souls 3
3- Bloodborne
4- Dark souls 2
5- Sekiro
6- Dark souls 1
7- Demon's souls
I find ER music super underrated, what makes it my favorite is how varied it is, It feels like it offers alot of different instumental layering and it tries it's best to fit whatever it's tied to, especially in the main bosses. Also the ambiance music is absolutely chef kiss, my favorite of all time, I can't get enough of Leyndell and Elphael's theme, such a masterpiece.
Same goes for DS2, I'm a bit biased because I love somber tracks more, and ds2 does that to perfection, the music feels like it truly conveys what dark souls is about, hopelessness and darkness, It's much better and more memorable than DS1 for me, that main menu theme will never fail to sooth me.
your list is my list tbh
Agreed, DS2 has such an underrated ost
That's absolutely my list. Cheers!
How dare you not mention Pontiff Sulyvahn's theme 😭
The more subdued atmopshere of phase 1 that sounds like it'd fit in a church, to phase 2's tyrannical BOMBAST absolutely fucks hard. But I'm torn between DS3, Bloodborne and Elden Ring for my favorite Soulsborne OST
I know everyone loves Nameless Song, but to me Epilogue from DS3 is easily the best credit song and one of the best OSTs overall
You're sleeping on longing
@@pogethedoge longing is like a happy version of epilogue, or rather epilogue is a sad version of longing,
Its also very good but epilogue is just crazy good
"Ashen one. Hearest thou my voice still?"
And the credits roll, and the Epilogue starts.
One of the most emotional moments I had in my gaming career.
Demon’s souls ps3 is my second favourite soundtrack in video games ever, it’s such a hauntingly beautiful ost that perfectly matches the gothic aesthetic of Demon’s souls
I really am enjoying these categories! Keep it up!
I love Great Shinobi Owl. It’s the only *boss* theme composed by Noriyuki Asakura (if you consider the Great Colored Carp as a boss then that would be two boss themes), who composed the ost for Tenchu- which Sekiro is a spiritual successor to. It’s fitting since Owl is Wolf’s trainer and Tenchu is, in a sense, Sekiro’s trainer.
Now rank every pixel in the souls games. If there’s too many, just ur favourite pixel of each game.
I’m happy someone actually did this coz I find there’s not too many videos on ost rankings
Love how you’re keeping these souls rankings interesting
18:05 but our best track is of course Lichdragon Fortissax
Based
That track is too busy. Could have been better with less going on.
Lichdragon is the best track in Elden Ring, easily
@@OutlookJonas If you haven't, please listen to the 2nd phase drop.
fortissax is a complete banger
soulsborne games always have the best music but I think that blood borne has the best if not just for Ludwig who is on my playlist
Bloodborne is absolutely amazing and has in my opinion has the best game soundtracks, Ludwig's and laurence's are my favorite ost's ever and Mergo's wet nurse is so beautifully terrifyingly done
A lot of people sleep on the ebrietas theme I think it’s the best in bloodborne
@@ervinfxps1498 it's pretty damn good
Most people judges music in souls games from a very sentimental and one focused approach. "Ludwig best song, but but but plin plin plon best song". One song doesn't makes an album, and DS3 can be a clasic music album sold along a game. The meme element and epicness of each boss music, even the most boring of its bosses, is musically a great job that deserves to be praised.
Absolutely love your channel Billy; keep up the stellar work!
Elden Ring is number 1 for me, the ambient tracks are amazing. Add so much atmosphere and flavor to the areas.
I agree with you, sir!
Great thoughtful list! And I do agree, Elden Ring and DS3 are my top 2 favorite OSTs. Elden Ring main theme is probably the best/most memorable OST from any of the games, but DS3 does have a more well rounded collection of beautiful and epic tracks to pair with their legendary roster of bosses.
This is my exact list too. Great breakdown.
Great video, and I respect your rankings! Funny enough, my favorite OST is the original Demon's Souls game from 2009 *because* of how experimental it was. So many tracks are steeped in atmosphere, and while some boss themes sound strange and unpleasant, they add to the game's surreal tone (I equate the sound to something you would hear from a bad dream you can't wake up from). The bosses' diverse range of music styles make them memorable as well. Lastly, the bad ending and good ending tracks are amazing. I just wanted to shout those two out!
Great vid! Also, you have a silky smooth voice, which I need to hear more often! Subscription time!
Definitely agree with DS3 being the top, but honestly, I think my favorite track is actually Secret Betrayal, the theme for Firelink after you give the Firekeeper eyes. It’s so wonderfully melancholic it gives me chills.
Radahns theme has to be my favourite boss theme in the series, everything about it is just incredible.
Wish you had talked about Gael's theme, it's such a masterpiece
Great idea for a video!
I'd argue that "Epilogue" is the best credits theme, I'm not joking when I say that I've NEVER skipped the credits of DS3 because of it. It was the PERFECT track to end such an incredible trilogy of games on, it has a somber sense of finality and closure to it that as so immensely powerful. It and "The First Hunter" are two of the best tracks in all of gaming.
My Ranking:
1. Dark Souls 3
2. Elden Ring
3. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
4. Bloodborne
5. Dark Souls
6. Dark Souls 2
7. Demon's Souls
The reason that Dark Souls is so low is because while it's great, outside of a few gems (Gwyn, O&S, Artorias) it feels like they were still getting their footing imo, however with Bloodborne (and particularly the DLC soundtrack) is when they hit their stride. Then they released Dark Souls 3, whose soundtrack was basically a gift from the gods. It's not that the games that came after it are downhill, it's just that DS3 set the bar INCREDIBLY HIGH that it's borderline impossible to top.
To me Bloodborne has simply the best videogame Ost of all time and it's not even close. There is no music in any other fromsoftware game that reaches the quality of Laurence, Ludwig or Gherman, but yeah in the end music is subjective 😁
I agree with this. Bloodbornes music was so fitting for its theme
@@ethanargent7310 👍👍
I love how he just doesn't talk about the ds3 main theme
Nice one. Lies of p has some amazing tracks beside from games
What’s funny is that, right before I watched this video, I was talking about how, blow for blow, DSIII has the best soundtrack in the series lol. Bloodborne is my #2 though… a hoonter must hoont, after all
Fume Knight one of the themes that carries Ds2, I recommend giving it a try, one of the best in the series
ds2 will always be underrated
I rarely pay attention to the music in a game, but the piano during Gwyn’s fight stood out to me as well written and very appropriate to the ultimate boss fight in the game.
Im not gonna lie, soon as i hear that opening theme in elden ring(and the radabeast fight) i just feel like a holy warrior enacting my goddesses(ranni) will. Then i get railed by radabeast and the anger rushes in
Radahns theme is the best track from the series for me. The second part is beatiful. You feel that a great warrior is finally put to rest.
What a great idea for a ranking video. Bloodborn would be up there for me you never forget your first, DS2 has my favourite hub music but I think the music from DS3 is my favourite by far
Listen I love my normal music, but nothing helps me lock in on anything more than instrumentals especially souls music. Another great video I agree with the whole list
Wow. I know this is all opinion based, but Billy S is insane to have Bloodborne music in the middle.
(I say playfully. Different music appeals to different people.)
Bloodborne has some of the most iconic songs I've heard in general. Though DSIII and ER have some solid tracks
Ds3 definitely deserves to win this but bloodborne should be second. Bloodborne definitely has more misses than some of the other games but the best tracks are really really awesome
It's funny every time.
BB fanbois being shocked,.not everyone considers their fav game the best in everything.
First of all - BANGER video topic, I could talk about souls music for years, secondly before watching here's my ranking:
1st - Bloodborne: it just perfectly speaks to everything I want from a soundtrack, you can accurately understand the bosses backstory just from listening to their boss music - Gascoigne, Maria, Lawrence are incredible, Gehrman and Ludwig are gaming perfection. Also I just adore lovecraftian horror tones, sue me.
2nd - Dark Souls 3: borderline perfect, Vordt, Pontiff, Yhorm, firelink, princes, SoC, nameless, FRIEDE, GAEL - like seriously there's so much quality, even stuff like deacons get amazing music, and my god I didn't even mention abyss watchers, but the only reason it's not number 1 is because the highs of Bloodborne might not be as plentiful, but are just sheer perfection
3rd - Elden Ring: by far the most epic, but I think the sheer amount of random watchdogs and duelists and crystalians kind of drag it down a little, stuff like Godfrey and mogh and radagon are insanely epic though
4th - Dark Souls 1: Sif, OnS and a few more being top quality, and plin plin plon is goated
5th - Dark Souls 2: Majula is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, as well a few bangers like Alonne
6th - Demon Souls: it's literally only higher because both versions of Astrea's theme are absolutely amazing, otherwise it would be last
7th - Sekiro: love the game, and the soundtrack fits the gameplay amazingly, but I've never been back to listen to any OST piece here, it's just very good mood music rather than anything iconic
Alot of the games had several iconic sound tracks but man soul of cinders theme was just so beautifully done with what it was trying to tell and its probably my most favorite ost of all the souls games
So you are not gonna talk about Midirs peak soundtrack. Literally most memorable part of dark souls 3
My favourite boss theme from DS3
The only one I disagreed with was Sekiro being so low on the list. It’s truly one of my personal favorite OST’s for FromSoftware. Owl Father, Divine Dragon, True Corrupted Mibk, Isshin the Sword Saint. Absolute perfection. Dark Souls III is hands down the best OST. Gael’s theme is actually my favorite boss theme ever…and probably my favorite boss fight.
I wasn't offended by Bloodborne's placement (despite it being my favourite and the only video game OST that has, to this day, brought me to tears just by listening to it) until you said you don't like Lady Maria's theme 😂
I kid, of course. Music is so subjective and any of the souls OSTs can be worthy of that top spot. They're all amazing.
But Lady Maria's theme is beyond gorgeous and I suggest you listen to it again with headphones as loud as you can stand. Chills every time.
When are you ranking the intro cinematics
As you got this uploaded, we finally got the gameplay trailer for Elden Ring dlc 😅😮 and we cant wait to see what they bring
Yes thank you for shouting out burnt ivory king. I feel like it gets lost compared to so many later games. but mixed with the lore that OST is a beautiful tragedy.
1. ANY ARMORED CORE GAME (Not technically soulsborne though)
2. DS3 ON TOP BABY
3. BB
4. DS2 (Super underrated ngl)
5. Elden Ring (Some great tracks)
6. DeS (super unique)
7. Ds1 (Many good and many bad)
8. Sekiro (It fits the game very well but is personally not my jam)
Surprised Bloodborne isn't in first place. Mainly because the choirs always have Latin words that paint out a story (with some obvious grammar mistakes). I think it really adds to the tragic tail of Gehrman, Ludwig, Maria, and Lawrence who are all significant characters in the story of Bloodborne.
Can’t believe you didn’t mention “The Owl” (father’s theme) in the sekiro section. Overall the ost might average lower but that’s one of my favourites in any of the games
I had to subscribe just because of the Bloodborne ranking, I'm so tired of people suckling the grease straight out of BB's asshole about literally everything so seeing it ranked as middle of the pack - where it deserves to be - is a breath of fresh air. Always good to encourage people that form opinions of their own, not those that get theirs from Reddit and other such circlejerks.
I'm with you on that feeling
What do you think of Maliketh's track? It's grown on me a lot and is now one of my faves in the game.
What about your top 30 boss themes
Demon's souls is criminally underrated
If I had to pick my top 3 tracks from each game(excluding demon's souls because I haven't really listened to it) it would be following:
*DS1:*
1. Ornstein & Smough
2. Taurus Demon(I'm dead serious)
3. Gaping Dragon
*DS2:*
1. Burnt Ivory King
2. Old Dragonslayer
3. Ruin Sentinel
*DS3:*
1. Darkeater Midir
2. Demon Prince
3. Dragonslayer Armour
*Bloodborne*
1. Laurence, the first Vicar
2. Lady Maria
3. Living Failures
*Sekiro:*
1. Owl Father
2. Divine Dragon
3. Emma, the Gentle Blade
*Elden Ring:*
1. Mohg, Lord of Blood
2. Malenia
3. Litchdragon Fortissax
I'm sure i'm pissing someone off here
fellow living failures enjoyer
@@firstorderblade4432 Hell yeah, I absoutely love it!
Is there anyway to top the records in Lies of P?
The records in lies of p are awesome but the boss themes are some of the most mediocre in soulslikes
What an awesome, random ranking idea. You're reaching Rusty levels, lol. Great video!
- Old King Allant's OG theme with the pipe organ is so much better than the remake. You could play it in a concert or a church and pass it off as a "lesser known baroque piece".
- Sekiro has good ambient music but I can barely recall any boss themes. I have Sword Saint in my playlist but that's about it.
- DS2 again... I remember Sir Alonne's theme and Majula, and that's about it.
- DS1 has a few good ones but the plin plin plon is EXTREMELY overrated. I don't like piano to begin with.
- DS3, Bloodborne and Elden Ring and pretty much just pure eargasm.
I’m never letting you cook again
Dark Souls 2's menu music is my favorite song out of any of the games
I think that I saw a lot stuff that FromSoftware did wrong&right in one or other of their games , but I don't remember I ever saw a dispute about quality of soundtrack presented in their games as it is universally praised. For me most favourite is Elden Ring (Fortissax), least - but still enjoyable - Sekiro.
Dark Souls has my favourite tracks, too and I would also extol Wolnir's and Sullyvahn's theme.
Bloodborne's OST is absolutely stunning, too.
I personally like all the soundtracks, but DS3 and Elden Ring in particular stand out, and I would've placed Sekiro a spot or two higher. DS1 has strong highs with the likes of Gwyn and O&S, but also a lot of meh or kinda-decent tracks that unfortunately blend into one another a bit too much (Gargoyles, Four Kings, Iron Golem, Gaping Dragon, etc.). I also find that even its highs neither hit as strongly as those of From's later repertoire nor do they have the best long-term appeal. Them ambient tracks, tho.
Bloodborne's OST is really good, but I do find that some of its boss tracks have a similar problem of being too similar to one another. That said, it has some of the series' highest highs.
I've always found it weird how often DS3 was called out for having tracks that are too similar to one another, and while I think it has a small smidgen of truth to it, I always felt it suffered from it less than everything that preceded it. Yes, big orchestra and choirs are prevalent, but they did an excellent job of giving each track its atmosphere and emotional response, not to mention varying tones and tempos. The somber and tragic Abyss Watchers and Oceiros; the holy but insidious Deacons of the Deep; the bombastic menace of Vordt and Dragonslayer Armour; the more composed menace of Dancer and Gundyr; the contrasting phases of Pontiff, Soul of Cinder, and Sister Friede; and the boss themes that share a mixture of it all with ones like Gael, Twin Princes, and Nameless King.
Overall, this would be my ranking:
7. DS2
6. DS1
5. Sekiro
4. Demon's Souls
3. Bloodborne
2. DS3
1. ER
Midir has one of favorite themes
I'll ignore ranking the games' against each other and just list my favorites of each:
Demon's Souls: Return to Slumber (this game has two spectacular credits songs, Elden Ring only has one okay credits song and I'm still mad about it)
Dark Souls: Nameless Song (this just tied the whole experience together and left me satisfied in spite of some of the lows like Bed of Chaos)
Sekiro (ambient): Fountainhead Palace
Sekiro (boss): Owl Father (especially phase 2 while playing against Inner Father, his mist raven combos pair perfectly with it)
Elden Ring (ambient): Leyndell, Royal Capital
Elden Ring (boss): hard battle between Mohg, Lord of Blood and Starscourge Radahn.
I have not played enough DS2 to have a complete opinion, DS3 is still going for $42 with DLC on steam which I don't feel like paying, and Sony has decided for me that I don't get to play Bloodborne.
Many people don't know that the words being sang in bloodborne's soundtracks are actual latin words, unlike hymns in the other games they add so much more depth and meaning to the bossfights
You should rank all souls games by story
How can you not acknowledge Yhorms theme with arguably the strongest start in the entire series ☹️
FINALLY
MY IDEA (Bloodborne Vid if I'm correct) IS EXISTENT
I love DS3 music the most. It's a mixture of Elden Ring's grandeur, Bloodborne's horror, DS1's simplicity, and DS2's...continued complexity and relaxing power. In my opinion, Demon Souls is a really cool soundtrack due to the fact that there are two variations, each so similar and different. I preferred Maiden Astraiya and Storm King in DeSR and Allant in DeS Og
To be honest, i'm just a passionate musicer. Bloodborne is my second favorite.
This list is wild. Dark Souls 2 better than Sekiro? Bloodborne at number 4? Deranged.
You are deranged, not being able to respect others' opinion
To me, Bloodborne is unbeatable and I legit listen to it all the time. I'm actively looking for more songs like the ones in Bloodborne.
My ranking and the best tracks:
7. Demon souls (One who craves souls/Maiden Astraea)
6. Sekiro (Isshin, the Sword Saint/True Corrupted Monk)
5. Dark Souls 2 (Majula/Aldia, Scholar of the First Sin/Sir Alonne)
4. Dark Souls 1 (Gwyn, Lord of Cinder/Dark Sun Gwyndolin)
3.Elden Ring (God-Devouring Serpent/Godskin/Lichdragon Fortissax/Malenia Blade of Miquella/Morgott the Omen King/Mohg, Lord of Blood)
2.Bloodborne (Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower/Ludwig/Laurence, the First Vicar/Gehrman, the First Hunter/Hail the Nightmare/Cleric Beast)
1. Dark Souls 3 (The Twin Princes/The Main Theme/Soul of Cinder/Slave Knight Gael/For the Dark Soul/Vordt of the Boreal Valley/Darkeater Midir/Iudex Gundyr/Epilouge(best of all))
W list except I would say ds2 is better than ds1
BB > DS3 > Sekiro > ER > DS2 > DS1 (haven't played DeS). Clearly I'm a Kitamura-san simp
Super great ranking. I can already hear the bursts of anger from the fanbois.
My own ranking is little different.
ER > DS3 > BB > Sekiro
Haven't played others.
Gehrman is my favourite boss OST of all.
But DS3 main theme is the best musical piece ever created by FS.
ER just has most 10/10 pieces of all games, I don't care about the junk.
me personally ds1 would be the best, but fair list and great video
1. Bloodborne (Tbh DS1 and DS3 was really close to be tied with Bloodborne, but I figured I couldn't have 3 games tied in one spot, besides, Bloodborne is like a mix of the atmospheric themes from DS1 and the epic oens from DS3, so it seemed fitting to just place Bloodborne at the very top).
2. Dark Souls 1 / Dark Souls 3 (I honestly can't choose which i loved more, DS1 is much more magical and atmospheric, but DS3 has such epic themes that it can compete with DS1).
There's quite a big gap between the ones I've already covered and the rest of the list...
3. Dark Souls 2 (underrated)
4. Demon's Souls (also underrated, the original to be precise, the remake is kinda generic)
5. Sekiro (Emma's track and the area ambiences carries Sekiro's OST to not be at the bottom. There's also other bangers like Isshin and Genichiro).
6. Elden Ring (Eh it's okay. My problem is there are way too many missed opportunities for original themes for like the Radagon theme, only for it to reuse the main theme, etc. I can't look at that and not judge and compare it to other FromSoftware games without saying it's not up to their usual standards, and even a bit lazy for them).
Pure bias
@@AlexCatable pure opinion based*
🥇 Maiden Astraea (Old)
🥈 Soul of Cinder
🥉 Sif
4. Gank Squad from Ds2
5. Deacons of the Deep
6. Lady Maria
Honorable: Nashandra, Abyss Watchers, Gael, Friede... Damn what am i talking about... All bosses.
Its wild how different peoples music taste is. Bloodborne is not in my top 3 games, but its my favorite soundtrack. Elden Ring is in my Top 3 games, but id rank it number 6 just because I actually dont remember anything other than Godrick and Radagon's theme
Personally, I love Kitamura‘s work on the theme for Leyndell
I agree with your top 2 but for me Bloodborne is better. No disrespect to Dark souls but I prefer the Gothic/horror asthetic. Pretty good video overall.
Morrgott ost is underrated
Uhh you didn’t even mention Malikeths ost
If you haven’t already, carrying the theme of music. You should rank the music for each boss in a game. Like “Bloodborne bosses ranked by music”.
As expected DS3 is number one 🎉 even though you left the DLC's soundtrack out 😢 where is Medir ?!
My god, someone finally talking about Ancient Dragon's OST. It's so good. DS2 soundtrack is so strange because it has many awful tracks and so many glorious others
My favorite game in terms of soundtrack will forever be Bloodborne. Not only the best across the Souls games for me, but also across ALL games. Hearing Ludwig’s OST will never fail to give me chills all over.
Elden Ring’s main theme also gives me extreme chills.
alright demon’s souls in last place is a travesty lmao
Nobody said my lists weren't travesties 😎
Ociros has the most underrated theme in the series
my top
7- demon souls: never played it so idk
6- ds2: not many memorable soundtracks, except for the hub tho, my favourite hub music in soulsborne
5- sekiro: the style fits the game very well but it also makes themes pretty hard to differentiate from one another and only few stand like gyobu, owl or isshin
4- ds1: absolutely banger of a soundtrack with some of the most iconic songs in all soulsborne like gwyn (in my opinion, the best soulsborne ost) or orstein & smough, really iconic but only for a few, not that consistent
3- ds3: amazing and really consistent ost troughout the entire game, like i could keep and keep listing bosses and their music, my favourite thing about dark souls 3´s soundtrack is how well they tie into the characters. sullyvahn, nameless king, dancer, midir,etc... and the BANGERS gael, twin princes, abyss watchers
2- elden ring: take the consistency of ds3 with a different more grandious and mystical take. this is the newest game aswell and it shows in radagon, malenia, placidaxus, elden beast
1- bloodborne: no ost feats their setting as well as bloodborne´s with its dark gothic victorian-ish musical style with masterpieces like living failures, ludwig, gherman.
Demon's souls remake ost is so great
every single soulsborne song ranked when
How can you not even mention Midir when talking about DS3, that song belongs in the top 3 best soundtracks of Ds3
Not the Asia O’Hara comment LOL
wether certain songs are reused in elden ring is irrelevant, were judging the musical composition here and nothing else.
My Ranking
1.DS3 (slightly less consistent than Bloodborne, but the best tracks are the best overall)
2. Bloodborne (the most consistent ost here, only rom's theme is forgettable, i can remember all the rest and gehrman's theme is my all time favourite in the series)
3. Elden Ring/DS1 (can't decide between the two, both are equally consistent)
4. OG Demon Souls ( has some of the best calm themes in the series)
5. Sekiro (similar to DS2, but slightly more consistent)
6. DS2 (some very good themes, but not all of them stand out as much)
7. Demon Souls remake (they disrespected the maiden in black theme)
To me Souls music never gets annoying but to my ear many of the boss themes while fitting in context don’t stand on their own. There are a few notable exceptions like the Dancer theme but the only tracks I like even outside of the game are the more subdued hub themes and some of the ambient music in Elden Ring.
If I want to get hyped up a bit I much prefer electronic music and good as it is, Souls can’t cut through that bias.
I Wonder, about For Eventual Next Video/s...
On These Games Characters That We Wish were Bosses, and
Obvious Mysteries, that are still Somehow Unsolved. Even when
People Have Ideas, theories, and ETC.
Like in Demon's Souls The Old one as actual BOSS, and the 6-th Stone and It's Mystery.
Also What Eve else we Have in the Other games. Maybe And IF These Characters, were BOSSES,
The Question of How They Could or would work.
For The Old one... Probably Projectiles, Spells, Miracles, AOEs, And ETC...
Something Like that.
