- From only half of his 66 operas. I wanted to keep it at cd length so a few honorable finales were excluded, Sancia di Castilglia and Fausta come to mind. Lucrezia Borgia and Caterina Cornaro have both rousing prologue finales but what we have here is the actual Act I finales. Enjoy!

I'm Italian....i didn't know that Donizetti was so Great!! It's a giant of music! Thank you for your video!!...i knew only Don Pasquale and elisir d'amore! It seems impossible that here in Italy Donizetti Is known only for these two operas!!
Donizetti was the greatest composer of Bel Canto in my opinion ... His melodies are just fantastic and exciting!
Donizetti and Verdi are the best opera composers ever!

A genius, his works immediately recognizable.. and Verdi clearly pays homage so often in his works. No one's music touches my soul like Maestro Donizetti - Bravissimo!

The Verdi of Bel Canto. These excerpts are gloriously rhythmic and slightly mad- and so much climatic excitement. A lot to sing and rewarding likewise to listen to sing.

I am so with you, Joe! I have an unquenchable love for Donizetti...and have had for over 30 years now. I just purchased a wonderful autograph letter of his, laying out a different decoration for Duprez. Can't wait to get it framed and added into my collection of Bel Canto prints, autographs, set designs, etc. Such fun!
I am sure it took lot of effort to assemble all these magnificent pieces & images in this video, it is worth it as Don Gaetano is in our hearts and always will be.

I just love this thanks for taking the time to upload this for us Donizetti junkies like myself. He was such a genius and consumed with music and creativity to such a degree he in my opinion as great a melodist as Verdi or Rossini. His operas are a constant pleasure

Un seul air avec Caballé, l'une des reines du bel canto!!! c'est inadmissible. Lucrezia Borgia, Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda auraient pu être ajoutés.
Fantastic! But I would prefer the only Concertatos & Strettas in the Operas (it doesn't matter in which Act) to be aggregated, and in another collection the duets, the tenor arias, etc. In this case, in fact, we miss the reunion of the 3 marvellous concertatos in the Tudor Trilogy Finales: here there is the only Anna Bolena one, but not Maria Stuarda's "Va', peparati furente" and Roberto Devereux's "Va', la morte". Also Poliuto Final II is a masterpiece. However, thank you a lot! :D

Glad I'm not the only one who refers the stretta finale as an orgasm! The more beautiful the final coda/cadenza, the better the orgasm. There are times when I'm researching a new opera to purchase and this is the first part I skip to as the major point of appeal for an opera, at least outright. Does that make me a horrible, artless and shallow person?
