This movie is still the most realistic portrayal of the punishment that Jesus endured. Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezal made this a masterpiece.

YHVH appears in the OT in the likeness of a man, Genesis 18, Exodus 3, as a foreshadowing of His glorious coming in the flesh as a man in the NT to be our Kinsman Redeemer. Abraham and Moses did not deny the deity of YHVH because He was in His visible image, in the likeness of a man, but people deny the deity of Christ constantly, which means they have denied the deity of YHVH too. What you do to Christ, you do to the Father also.
This is not just a movie, it is the art of history about a true King! 😢

The sequence of Mary remembering Jesus as a boy falling and she runs to help him and helps him while he's collapsed under the cross and he then says, "See/behold mother, I make all things new" was perhaps the most cry inducing part in that film for me.
I'm looking forward to experiencing the sequel in a movie theater with my mom.

I can't tell you how much I cried during that scene. I didn't stop for at least 10 minutes. If only I can prove to you that I'm a Man who genuinely hasn't cried that much in my life so far but I was absolutely destroyed after that scene

@@countdunkelheit1389I usually don't cry, too. I could, perhaps I should do it more, for one reason or another, because crying can be and has been beneficial for me. I believe there should be a balance with how/when/why one cries. I think crying should be done sensibly/reasonably, but no one should be ashamed of the act of crying itself, necessarily.
Anyway, I remember going to see that movie by myself in a movie theater when it came out. And when that aforementioned scene occured, I began to cry; not just because of what the movie was providing, visually and audibly, but also because of what I was influenced to think about by that sequence psychologically, such as the love of Jesus for his mother and for others, Mary's love for her son, my own mother and how she cared for me, my own troubles, the troubles of others, among other things. So multiple factors influenced me to cry in that moment.
The Passion is by far the most realistic portrayal I think we will ever see. He deserved every award for it.

I've only been able to watch this movie 2, maybe 3 times. It's so heart wrenching just to see it as movie.. I cant imagine the pain of Mother Mary and the Disciples having to watch her son/their friend and Lord go through it all, real time, real suffering, before their very eyes. It just hurts too much for me to watch it again. I try not to take for granted what Christ really had to go through, just so I [and everyone else] can sin without being utterly terrified of eternal punishment. God is a wonderful father with boundless love for His children.
I love so much that he prayed too God and said “God I don’t want them to see me I only want them to see you” ❤ my heart felt that. He has so much love for God and respect. Passion of Christ was and still is one of the most powerful heartfelt movies I’ve ever seen.

I watched this in theaters, cried 6 times, and told myself I'd never watch it again. Such a moving film.
Yeah there was some ugly crying that night! Haven't watched it since. Maybe with my kids once they hit a certain age/maturity

My Sophomore class all went to see this together (it was roughly 100 students filling the theater) and I sat between two of my best friends, Chet and Danny, and all I remember from that day was looking over at each of them when Jesus was beaten and bloody and seeing tears streaming from both their faces as I could not hold mine in either. We all hugged each other during the film and wept after seeing for the first time an accurate portrayal of what Jesus endured for us.

Jim is an extremely talented man portraying Jesus he is extraordinary.
Jim, you did an incredible job portraying our Lord. This film was criticized for its brutality. What people don't get is the true brutality that Jesus endured was so much worse than the movies usually portray.
You did a fantastic job, and your request to the Father that people only see Jesus and not you were answered. The pain and abuse Jesus endured hit me in the core of my soul. It was heartbreaking trying to watch. It sends an ache into my being I can not even describe. I tear up just remembering. We are so unworthy of the price paid for us by the King of Kings. We can not comprehend the love he has for us. I wish I could have done something to spare him what he went through.
Thank you for the part you played in bringing that reality to our hearts and minds. How I long to see him face to face.
The had never watched this before. a lady i went to church with lent it to me. I hadn't been saved very long, i was a baby Christian. The first time I watched it i fell to the floor beside my couch and hit my knees crying out to the Lord saying "I'm so sorry, i didn't know, I'm so sorry please forgive me" over and over again.

Other movies can bring tears into my eyes, but this is the only movie where I genuinely cried like a baby. An incredibly powerful film
Same for me. I was nearly nine months pregnant with my daughter when I saw this in the theater. I went to the bathroom right after the movie and every one in that bathroom was crying. There were at least 30 of us just standing around shell shocked. No one was speaking. Just tears.
I’ll never forget the silence followed by the sound of people sniffling from crying during the movie. A lady was munching away on popcorn until the beating scene and she suddenly stopped and put her popcorn down and the mood of the entire place shifted to a sense of reverence.

The move that left something in me forever,and it happens every time i watch it.
Just watched it with a group of friends tonight and we all cried silently during it. When it ended we just sat in silence for like 30 seconds before someone said, "that was a good movie" then we started listening through music playlists to lift our spirits. What a powerful movie and a powerful story. That Jesus went through it all for you and me who are so unworthy of it.

Person of Interest was his biggest TV role, excellent series, you get 100+ episodes of him as the hero.

Yeah the ‘behold mother I make all things new’ part is the heaviest part of the film for me. It just strikes you to your core. The bravery.
When I saw that scene I remember I started really heavily weeping. Almost uncontrollably. Hadn’t cried that way really since I was a kid.
