Armenian Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan speaks boldly on faith, homeland, Armenia-Diaspora relations, and the struggle for the future of Armenia in an exclusive interview.
The people's "surpazan" over the weekend made history, announcing to the masses on Yerevan's Republic Square that he had suspended his ecclesiastical duties to pave the way to become the next prime minister of Armenia.
But the pro-Turkish PM Nikol Pashinyan -- who in 2018 rose to power on the back of street protests and false promises, and today relies on an army of US-funded police to quell dissent -- has showed no signs of budging.
This interview was conducted at the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church on the eve of the Archbishop's historic march to Yerevan.
