No more S.O.L...ive been waiting for this team since the 80s..the Lions backed up everything they said they would do and took it to the N.F.L. and will now continue to do so on a higher level that the Lions have ever shown..GO LIONS!!!
So many memories. Just living in the moment of now. Let's go!
Ngl losing a 17 point lead in the nfc championship game was a peak same ole lions type of thing
You can definitely make this argument. I think time will tell on this one. If they can overcome and get to the promise land than it was a stepping stone moment. If they fail and fall back to mediocrity than it adds to the list of SOL imo.
This is painful Johnny G. I’ve watched the Lions since the 60s and so many bad memories. However we have the real thing now. Thank you Jesus.
Tough memory lane! It was hard to make this honestly as fun as I thought it might be lol
@@johnnygazsports You are becoming one of my favorite lions podcast thanks Johnny
Since the 80s..you gotta love the Dan Orlavski running out of the end zone thinking he's going to make a legal pass after running all over the out of bounds line
You nailed the worst SOL moment in your extras: The Paul Eddinger 54 yard game winning kick.
A little table setting: that was the year that Bobby Ross quit on the team during the season. Gary Moeller took over and somehow got them to 7-8 with a series of injuries & back-up QB's. (The Lions starter in that final game was Stoney Case (Mike Stone would have been better)). The Bear's 2 td's came off a punt return & an a pick 6. And on the final play at the Silverdome, Eddinger hits a 54 yd fg to win the game.
But that's not the worse part, (and here's what makes it #1). For one of the few times in his ownership WCF cleaned house that year, firing everybody, including Moeller, who had done a hell of a job. This led Ford to go out and hire the worse exec in sports history, Matt Millen.
Love this! Thank you for taking us back and providing that context! So much bad surrounding that moment. But you’re right it probably deserves a higher place on this list!
Yup. And yet, only about half of these moments were the Lions beating themselves. The other half were either bad calls by the officials or crazy bad luck. The Lions didn’t just play poorly; they also had a ton of bad luck and bad calls against them as well.
Agreed. It was a weird combo of the Lions being done over and then not being able to undue. Tough combo.
What is your favorite/least favorite S.O.L. moment?
Missing the field goal vs. SF in the 1983 playoffs
Picking Terry Fair over Randy Moss
blowing a 24-7 lead at halftime of the nfc title game, though I think they'll win the super bowl this coming season
One fact that you missed about that Ravens game with the 63yd FG… Is that the refs missed a delay of game against Baltimore during that last drive… That’s the part I was LIVID about… The FG was luck in my opinion…
#OnePride✊🏾🦁💙
You're right! That was unbelievable. It's like he got an extra 2.7 seconds!
Yeah the field goal sucks. But Tucker is the GOAT there. The super long uncalled delay of game is what makes the record kick feel so much worse. The SOL moment is the refs ignoring the delay of game so a record play could be had at our expense.
Things are finally good we don't need reminders of the SOL era (almost my entire life) it is burnt into our souls
So true! Sorry to rehash the bad stuff lol. Hopefully for the last time!
U should have made the title of your video TOP MOMENTS OF LIONS GETTING SCREWED
Really enjoyed the video, let's hope that these are a thing of the past. Go Lions and Tigers!
Thank you! Appreciate it. And yes lets hope this is all just bad memories!
