A lot of the disputed borders in the world are islands that multiple nations claim ownership of. The problem is there’s no differences on Google Maps as the borders are visually the same.
For the purposes of this video I have assumed that Google is politically neutral. There are a lot of good arguments against that assumption, but that’s a video for another day.
If you want to try this yourself, click on the name of your country in the bottom right when on Google Maps - this’ll let you change your region in settings. Google is blocked throughout most of China and isn’t on the list, however changing the top-level-domain to .cn can sometimes work. Even though Google is blocked in China already, many citizens find a way around it. Google are trying become reinstated, this means they still have to keep China's government onside.
Google Map Maker was discontinued in 2017, but a lot the features have been merged into main Google Maps site.

Human Interests There was a time when Google Earth showed at least part of the borders going into sea. The border dispute remaining between the Netherlands and Germany is over precisely that. I don't exactly remember but I do recall the line Google drew was yellow, indicating no dispute. Not sure whether it was the Dutch line or the German line I was shown at the time, but I think it was the Dutch line.
By the time Google Earth had removed their borders in the sea, Google Maps decided they'd just give it all to The Netherlands, and then some, including a whole harbour. Google Maps too doesn't show borders in sea anymore
Come to think of it, the one other border dispute in Western Europe is over water. The Bodensee is surrounded by Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and all of them think differently about how the borders should be drawn. Switzerland thinks it knows how, Germany knows it doesn't know but doesn't think Switzerland has done it correctly either and Austria says to hell with borders, let's share it equally, even though it has a tiny coastline in the lake.

GYANDEEP SINGH (B15EE014) We are talking about strictly defined borders in a legal sense here. That is a concept uniquely human and relatively modern. The territories of animals shift in a shorty period of time. Relatively fluid borders had always been a norm for humans for thousands of years as central authorities of ancient time could hardly exert effective controls over the population having resided near borderlands. It is not only until the recent two centuries the borders become relatively stable. Yet, it still remains somewhat arbitrary.

I'm from Costa Rica, and can tell you from personal experience that the whole situation was just plain stupid. Nicaragua thinking that they own a piece of land just because a website says so is unexplainable.

I agree with you 100%, but that isn't what he was saying in the video. Basically, he explained that Google is a huge resource used across the world, and as a result, the majority of people not familiar with the region would likely accept the Nicaraguan claim just because that's what it looks like on google maps. That doesn't actually make the land a part of Nicaragua at all, but it does make people around the world that don't know about what Nicaragua did think it does.

If Spain doesn't want it to be disputed, it should treat Catalonia better. That might actually solve it.
I mean by all means, Spain can probably send its troops around freely there, and may be able to collect its taxes. Mostly. Civil disobedience though, that's a lot harder to stop. Well unless they start executing a lot of people... which doesn't tend to turn out well.
Pretty sure the Spanish know that, too. Anyone who's taught how big their country used to be, also inevitably wonders why it's so small now.
