    I love the NIV, but since Dr. Moo said they accept suggestions from lay people, I’d like to suggest that Ephesians 1:11 should said something other than “chosen.” Verse 4 says “He chose us…” but a few verses later verse 11 redundantly says, “we were also chosen…” maybe “we were also chosen for inheritance” would be better there? I don’t know….

    The NIV has some misleading alternate translations in the footnotes. For example, the NIV has an alternate translation of "ἀκατακαλύπτω" as with no covering of hair in 1 Corinthians 11:5. Michael Marlowe, who has a MA in Biblical languages said the NIV footnotes in this section were "indefensible". Publishers are under intense pressure to make things clear, but the NIV translation committee really missed the mark on this one.
