  • First test of this pedal with a sequence from a vintage Korg MS20. The CV input to the pedal is coming from a 960 sequential controller with an 8 note sequence to control phase or gen 1 rate. Great pedal for Guitar and lower level synthesizers but no good as a send return effect in a mixer because the input is too sensitive. I only use Eventide line level effects with my mixer because they have the headroom to produce better fidelity in the sound without noise and distortion.

If you want to hear an original Bi-Phaser, just watch any 1970's episode of CHiPS, Charlie's Angels, or The Love Boat.
I bought mine at Manny's in NYC, summer of 1975.
I had the 8th one they (Mu-Tron) made.

This sounds like the original Mutron BiPhase from the mid 70s. It was an expensive cool pedal! Look up very early Lee Ritenour recordings to see what the Mutron version sounded like. Wild Rice, from First Course album is a great example as it Valdez in the Country and Bertha Baptist from the rare Guitar Player Compilation record from 1976. I think they are here on CZcams.

I've been chasing this bugger since I first heard @ Pi Keyboards and Audio in CLE when it came out in 70's.

Sounds great. Do you get some phase cancellation with the sync in Rev?

When OSC1, phaserA Up, phaserB down, widens the sweep field.
When OSC2, on mine there was a different tone, but, I can't swear it was "real", like a phase switch flipping the mix since you're jumping to a different CV.

One thing I haven't tried yet is the CV input.

Most peoples like the sinusoidal gentle sweep that makes the ears twitch - unfortunately I have a bad cold and a blocked ear at the moment so cannot fully appreciate the sound of this pedal

Yes I like it, but have only had the time in this short demo to play with it so far. I will try it with guitar tomorrow and maybe a string machine or two. Was glad to get the pre copyright Bi-Phase labelled one. There are trimmers inside for Shape 1, Shape 2, Level B, Sweep, LedA, LedB, DepthA, DepthB , Rate and LevelA.... The Led A and B trimmers are multi turn so I think this the most critical adjustment. I have no reason to meddle with these as it sounds good as is and may break something.
