He really was Mr Showmanship. He OWNED the piano, the costumes AND the audience. His ease of delivery belied all the blood, sweat and tears it took to get him there. A true One-of-a-Kind.
I love artists who seem to play without any sign of having to think about what they are playing, with the music just pouring out and winging through the air for everyone to enjoy! Liberace is one of those men who can do this magic! Another man, who also was also comedic about his performance, was Chico Marx. He was able to play and enjoy his music, as well as entertain the public around him! Stars shining as bright as they, burn bright, but not forever.
Pure genius! Loved seeing him as a kid when he played at the London Palladium in the late 70’s, we sat in box and I watched hanging over the edge as I was in awe of his playing and he winked a few times in our direction. I still listen to my folks records just like I did all those lovely years ago as a kid. Love this one, always my favourite as my grandmother use to sing it and loved Liberace. He was pure entertainment for all !
