It's a shame about Pepe. I honestly didn't think his time at Arsenal was bad, and I would have liked to see him given another chance this season, especially because Saka needs rest and competition. That said, if the boss doesn't want him, it's good for everyone that he moves on. Best of luck to him.

It's probably more to do with Pepe not being good enough. Physically or mentally. Rather than Mikel having an agends about him. He struggled back in France last season, he will never cut it at Arsenal on a consistent basis. Decent attacking but useless defending in a team.

Every year we get this "Pep is leaving" BS, when are people going to realize that Pep loves Man City with all his heart? when the 115 charges dropped last summer everyone was like "that's it, Pep is leaving!" then Pep went to a press conference and said "I'm not moving from this seat, even if they send us to league 2 I'll be there" if that's not a man that loves the club then I don't know what is, and haters go "ofcourse he'll say that" but nah, he doesn't have to say or do anything, he said it because he wanted to, he said it because he loves the club, and when you love something you'll defend it with your life. Just a few weeks ago he was asked in a press conference if he was going to leave since he's now won everything and all he said was he still has 2 years left on his contract, and he's absolutely going to honor it, and if things are still going well he's going to even extend it, Pep never lied to City fans, so every City fan knows that Pep will be there until minimum 2025.

Regarding Sancho, Utd have a long history of buying the current England or Premier league young hero, and often a number of instances this has not concluded in flying success, partly in my mind because the level of expectation is unobtainable, the fans expect instant results and the players confidence is based very much on crowd and media reaction. All players need a bit of time to settle after a change of clubs, some are instant hits but as soon as they have a short spell of average or poor by their own standards games, their confidence is given a knock, during this time it takes an amount of patience to allow them to rebuild, always worth remembering that Utd's greatest team was built very much on a core of players who had made their way from the academy to the first team, no big price tags, and already a level of increased support because they are from the youth team, big price tags come with big risks on all sides, good examples are spread all around Chelsea right now, which i believe were most clearly emphasised by Mudryk, and now Caicedo, both of whom were sold for insane fees based fundamentally on potential rather than proven reliability.

    A B Před 26 dny +6

Pepe friends were Auba and Laka. He wasn't a complete failure, but ended up as a Saka sub (and Saka plays all games and hardly gets subbed), nevertheless Pepe played 80 games (often as a sub), scored 16 goals for Arsenal (some of it were spectacular), but he was a part of that Auba-Laka-Pepe gang that Arteta wanted to get rid of. What is amazing is that no club in France was interested in buying him, there is definitely a £20m player in Pepe. He can be quite brilliant and a nightmare for defenders when the game suits him. It's a shame Arteta game doesn't suit him at all. £2m is a steal.

    • mojomomo
      mojomomo Před 26 dny +2

He has had more goals and assists than Anthony and Sancho COMBINED- hes only lost value because our manager wants to get rid of him if he played at all he would still be a £30-40m player- he scored 6 goals in 19 games last season for Nice as a winger which is not bad considering hed been sat on a bench for 3 years almost

    Aaron's allotment Před 26 dny

It's certainly tempting to see Pep as setting and requiring his own challenges and that these challenges are bigger than Man City. Johan Cruyff is his mentor, and hero and many might be unaware that Pep actually won more trophies than Cruyff at Barcelona, which means he was already achieving more. He has of course gone on to add to that during his time at City. International football seems like the best way to do that and there is a generation of English players who could and should challenge for those high honours. It will definitely be tempting.
As for Sancho, I am feeling charitable towards him and less so towards the club. He was pilloried after the European Championships but where as Rashford, and Saka (especially Saka) felt the arm of protection from the club, I don't see that to the same extent with Sancho. As such I think his dip in form was inevitable. He also arrived during the completely toxic environment created around and about Christiano Ronaldo. It was a good day when he exited out of the door, but the damage done is still being felt. I tend to look at Sancho and see him as being a symbol for that, if you will. The solution is for Sancho to go somewhere else, but Chelsea would be a very bad move. If anything Chelsea's problems go deeper than what we can see at Stamford bridge and there is no point leaping from a hot saucepan into the fire. David Moyse (if he stays) has something really good going at West Ham at the moment and Sancho could be a great asset there. I think he would do well, and probably recapture the player that was lost during his time at United. Obviously nothing can happen until the window opens but Sancho's time at United is over and everyone needs a tidy resolution.

@Jamie Wain lol you think the premier League is competitive?
You realise that everyone's fighting for second place right? A club that does not play by the rules, has a bottomless pit of cash, and Pep...makes this league impossible to win with him in it. 😂
The thing that made Fergie, arsene different was that they had limits. Mourinhos limit was the ownership not keeping him when things went wrong. Klopps limit is FSG. LIMITS create competition, because there's a chance of Jeopardy. City have cheated themselves into a life without limits, like a video game. So yes unless city is charged, which we all know is not going to happen, the only way this league will be competitive again is if Pep leaves, or they have something like a Munich disaster like united did. They've bought world class players in every position, and have no actual need for an academy. Is that normal in football? 😊

Pepe is a baller, he was a scape goat, but his stats are not bad. Keep him

  • mu hansen
    mu hansen Před 26 dny

damn im more interested on Antony now more than before, since he is probably the one that have a big potential to surpassed N. Pepe if he was found guilty, at least Arsenal can get 2m for Pepe, let see if Antony can bring somethings or that 85mils gone straight to nothing at all by running out his contract while spending his time in jail.

    • Vk Deen
Vk Deen Před 26 dny +1

if he's in jail his contract will get terminated and he'll likely have to give bonuses and fees back. he's on 200k per week base
      4-5 years at 200k is 42m-54m
plus all his sign on etc is another 5-10m
      so utd would save 50-60m
as opposed to pepe who cost arsenal basically the entire length of his contract and bonuses

    • mu hansen
mu hansen Před 26 dny +1

@Vk Deen mate im not talking about bonus or term on his contract, but his transfer fee that utd paid to ajax, just like how Arsenal paid to Lille 75 mils or something and can only recoup 2 mils for that. even Antony contract got terminated, most likely utd will not gonna get that transfer fee back. thats all

    • Vk Deen
Vk Deen Před 26 dny +1

@muhansen2138 yea I get that but that's only half the story.. ppl never factor in all of it. if its going to happen I'd rather it happen now so utd save 60m rather him be sat there sucking wages out for years on end like maguire for example.
arsenal loss on pepe is much more than the 70m fee coz he basically saw most of his contract and yearly bonus' etc

Tbf, there's nothing to prove in club level anymore for him. So why are you worried about him leaving? Is it bcs you knew that you're gonna become championship team again after pep leave? 🤣🤣🤣 Might as well called "pep's city"

    • German Chickenwing

@Squallisdead Without Sir Alex there would be no Utd, so what your point? Utd is Villa Without Sir Alex

    • Squallisdead
      Squallisdead Před 26 dny

@German Chickenwing without fergie, united still had more trophies under their belt. The same with arsenal without wenger and liverpool without klopp. So if you think you're a "big club" and good enough, then why are you so worried about pep leaving?

    • German Chickenwing
      German Chickenwing Před 26 dny

@Squallisdead Really? Same could be said about City.. Before Pep city had 4 league titles, before Alex Utd had 7 league titles and 1 cl.. I am not scared about him leaving but just hate seeing lies from rival fans...No one know if he is staying or leaving

Edu is good at buying BUT him and the club is UTTERLY useless at selling.. 8 Million when bought for 72 Million? Thats madness.. He is better than Harvertz for real.. He scored 27 goals and had about 24 assists.. Not super bad like Harvertz were in Chelsea and have been here at Arsenal

1:52 why is it that arsenal sells ALL their assets on the cheap? Like come on. Pee wasn’t great, He’s not worth the 72 we paid for him, but he’s worth AT LEAST 10 (and i’m lowballing right now)

    • Alfred the Great
Alfred the Great Před 26 dny

BecauseArsenal don't choose the amount, that's decided by the club who wants to buy the player. If the player isn't very good not many clubs want to buy them....hence a lower price. Eg you can't sell a Skoda for a Mercedes price can you?

  • bosmeck
    bosmeck Před 26 dny

Anthony not selected for Brazil, shocking. Antony is your best player however, when you don't feed him, he'll starve. MU Crap midfield, yes, Bruno is well missing, crap defence other than Martinez and please, don't give me the Luke treatment. Attack is good but again, they're starving.
Clearly I'm not a United fan however, I do like the club and their record. Time to get rid of the old Hag, he's the Dutch Potter and it's showing right now. The players are out of control... that's management... period.
