If they want to go after SP and ban it eventually, what they should do instead is just ban IP. IP is what allows more degenerate things to occur, and is a staple in most decks... Just like SP. IP is what allows you to bypass SPs battle phase restriction by just summoning it on your opponents turn where that doesn't matter. This to me feels like a halq situation... "Let's ban every single tuner, even though halq is the one enabling all these degenerate plays and is the real problem.". Arguably the synchro 12 red crimson dragon should've been banned instead of calamity, because it's the same situation... But at least that card is difficult to make, and there aren't that many ridiculous synchros, like calamity; plus I don't think anyone actually cares about calamity anyway, unlike SP and halqs numerous tuners he abused.
