      It's sad how far people have fallen... I don't know what's to blame. I've noticed most of them are American, so it's probably alot to do with the failing education system, but that doesn't explain the pathological distrust, hyper suspicion, and tendancies to beleive in elaborate conspiracies. I've spoken to some of these people and it really is crazy how they explain away anything and everything that goes against their conspiracy with the most bizarre nonsense ... Ive heard them say that Gravity doesn't exist, That the sun's only 3000 miles away "because it has to be for their flat earth model to work" , uh the moon is a hologram, satellites are fake, the space stations fake, all images videos are fake, Antarctica is patrolled by whoever and they turn away anyone who tries to go there... Lol, the tourist etc are paid actors... And there are thousands of these nuts! My own mother is kind of one,. She's a chem trailer... Believes contrails from aircraft are a nefarious chemical spray...
      You'd think people would grow and shine since the internet gave everyone complete access to the whole of human knowledge, but instead we get this spreading downward spiral into a new anti science paranoid dark age

    I know the thought of seeing the milky way from outside of the disk is a bit of an irrational wish on my part, but I can't stop myself from imagining the overwhelming beauty such a view would bring. It is sad to think that we will not be able to see it. I understand that it would be very similar to the other spirals in the universe, but there is just something about knowing that you're looking at _our own_ little island of stars moving silently through the void.

    18:47 "They call it dark matter because it does not interact in any way with the matter and electromagnetic energy we see with our instruments." Then you immediately contradict this by saying "Its only interaction is through gravity." So It DOES INTERACT.

    • @howfarawayisit
      @howfarawayisit  Před 5 lety +4

      I understand. By particles 'interacting' I mean that there would be some kind of energy exchange if they came into contact. But dark matter would pass right through normal matter without any energy exchange whatsoever. But you are correct in noting that the existence of dark matter in a space, bends the space just like normal matter. That bend will impact all matter that encounters it. It is a sort of interaction. Thanks for you note.
