This is the most *OUTSTANDING and ADMIRABLE* channel about astronomy. *THANK YOU VERY MUCH* mister Butler for your hard work and time you spend for our education.
Tank you David. I'm very grateful to you for this program. I'm Brazilian, living in Brazil. I spend hour and hours listening you wonderful programs.
I am Brazilian too.
For many years I follow him.
Always ... Great videos
The music + your voice = so peaceful that it’s like listening to a bedtime story to make you sleep
I really enjoyed this and all of your videos. I hope you continue to make more.

@@gsxr100100 Your comment made so much sense, halfway thru your comment you had a bit of an aneurism.
The best voice i have ever heard.
Every single word melts into my mind.
All the wars in the world would stop quickly and laugh at each other if they watched this video and realized how insignificant we are in the universe
Somali civil war survivor.
Not to mention that if the world is in war and there is a winner and soon after scientists discover that a huge asteroid is heading our way and will erase life on this planet.
Yes my friend
I've watched this series so many times, I can quote most of it by heart. My favorite is "It did not wobble"! So much is amazing, I can always come back & enjoy. Here in #10 he mentions work done at my school, Univ.of Wis.
I have seen COUNTLESS vids, docs, etc. regarding the subject of the Milky Way Galaxy. And I have to say that this video is EASILY BY FAR, The Most In depth, Straight fwd, Easy to understand, video that I have seen..... MAYBE EVER! KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK, and DO NOT LISTEN 2 UNIMPORTANT INTERNET TROLLS!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks.
yes .
Very useful information given in this video.. thanks sir
Fantastic presentation in pictures, words, and music, thank you
Not knowing why a black hole makes an accretion disk is like a character of a book becoming self-aware, but not knowing it existed in a book.
Nice video.....simplifying and packing tonnes of scientific studies in just 20 minutes....!
Brilliant...
Your videos are so informative and fascinating, Mr. Butler. But my favorite thing about them is that the cadence and tone of your voice relaxes me to the point of falling asleep. Treat that as a compliment.
Looks like I'm hooked in until the end of this series. This really helps grasp ideas on how our universe is constructed and how it works.
I've seen these videos before, but just watched a few again. Man, they are great. So much knowledge, presented clearly and accessibly, with beautiful images and music. Thank you again, sir.
Love your channel. I can’t get enough of it. Please keep them coming. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing the awesome wonder of our galaxy! We are so privileged to be able to begin our understanding of the universe the way it really is.
How can we feel so much when we are so small? Mr Butler I hope a transmission of this work makes it to other civilisations so they can see what we are capable of.
Indeed ! 😎
Mr Butler thank you so much for you video's. I realy enjoy you explaining stuff about the universe. THANK YOU
These are great videos! I'm glad I came across this channel. I have learned a lot more, and I could listen to David Butler talk all day!
Mind-blowing!! Our galaxy is amazing 😀 Beautifully written and presented, thank you so much.
Thank you David Butler. CZcams is a great tool or a great waist of time. Your site is a great tool. There is so much pseudoscience on CZcams It is great to find a site as good as yours.
It's sad how far people have fallen... I don't know what's to blame. I've noticed most of them are American, so it's probably alot to do with the failing education system, but that doesn't explain the pathological distrust, hyper suspicion, and tendancies to beleive in elaborate conspiracies. I've spoken to some of these people and it really is crazy how they explain away anything and everything that goes against their conspiracy with the most bizarre nonsense ... Ive heard them say that Gravity doesn't exist, That the sun's only 3000 miles away "because it has to be for their flat earth model to work" , uh the moon is a hologram, satellites are fake, the space stations fake, all images videos are fake, Antarctica is patrolled by whoever and they turn away anyone who tries to go there... Lol, the tourist etc are paid actors... And there are thousands of these nuts! My own mother is kind of one,. She's a chem trailer... Believes contrails from aircraft are a nefarious chemical spray...
You'd think people would grow and shine since the internet gave everyone complete access to the whole of human knowledge, but instead we get this spreading downward spiral into a new anti science paranoid dark age
Anthony Romeo yes indeed....i encourage the youth to use YT as an educational tool, they'll enjoy it and appreciate it alot more
Thank you very much for this wonderful and informative video.
WHY do this kind of videos don´t go viral man? your videos are just awesome David, thanks for charing your knowledge
I was never able to find information about the center of our galaxy. This is very informative and I appreciate the effort you put into making this. Thanks for the video!
space, life and classical music somehow suit perfectly together....very interesting
DUMNEZEU este mare , a facut totul perfect. Documetarul este interesant si util pasionatilor de astrofizica. Multumim Einstein, inaintasilor , contemporanilor care au putut pune in lumina acest minunat domeniu si nu in ultimul rand lui David Butler !
Awesome video dear Sir, thank you.
Outstanding knowledge given here!!
By far the best of 50 milkyway galaxy videos. One thumbs up is all I can give unfortunately.
Mr. Butler these are excellent videos. I recommended them to a high school buddy of mine who now teaches high school herself, and she passed them on to the science teacher who now uses them in his class.
This is an outstanding collection of videos. Who knew learning science could be so beautiful. Thank you!
this video answered many questions I had. bravoooo! for the the teacher!
Beautifully narrated with clear explanations, I feel inspired and learned something new that G2 will be sucked in by Sag*A. Your videos are some of the best on the subject of astronomy and I hope you keep producing such content.
I am very very disappointed by the comments here and I wish people could develop some critical thinking.
Thank you for taking out the time to spread knowledge free of cost for all of us.
Thanks. By the way, G2 did not fall into the black hole. I covered that in an annual update. Also, you might find the 2019 4k update interesting. I added quite a bit on Sag A *.
@@howfarawayisit Voyager 1 ( @16:04) was lunched in 1977 not 1975.... there is one dislike from me...
I love your channel so much. Excellent, easy to understand delivery.
Thanks David for this incredible work.
It is amazing what you have done.
Greetings from Brazil.
love your videos! infinite thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind boggling...this video just put everything into perspective 😯😯
Great job!!!
Thank you, David.
Thanks for your hard work, love this channel.
We're only as smart as you are,the smarter you get.The smarter we get.
Thanks.
How far??? The Milk Way is right here ..... ALL AROUND ME, close to us, around the earth !!!
Beethoven's 9th, 3rd movement. perfect.
Thank you for this marvellous series!
Thank you David, somehow you capture the scale so much better than anyone else I've seen. The only problem is, It makes me want to show everyone I know.
That was very informative and captivating.
Thanks mr.Butler, tomorrow i bring you a apple pie.
Bravo. Standing ovation.
Thanks for the great lesson.
Thank you! Finally, a straight forward explanation of the structure and size of the Milky Way and the location of the Solar System in the Orion Spur. Great video.
“1,500 years after Copernicus put the sun at the centre of our solar system?” 😳 I think 1,000 years too many 🤔🌝!
good use of Beethoven
Just started watching your collection of videos. Amazing!
What a fabulous set of videos!
Thank you so much for your videos! No unwanted bullshit, just clear digestible information, love it. Great choice of music as well.
Your series is awesome I have been watching them all , it boggles my mind,I could ask a million questions , thanks to people like you and Carl Sagan, who introduced me to the Cosmos my hunger to know more is never ending
A great presentation! Thank you.
Why does this narrator have such a sleep inducing voice...its 10am watchin this n i wanna go to sleep
Hypnotic!
Same thing happened to me even though the subject matter is interesting. I had to fight my eyelids from closing..................
Totally fascinating ....that humankind is at this point we can try to understand our place in a galaxy , one of countless of such objects , is mind blowing . Even though our earthly notion of space and time seems unable to comprehend these creations and lightyears' distances.
It's only physicists who are able to understand a fraction of it . Most of us can only philosophize about it .🤔 🌌
I've come to love your videos, which I just recently discovered. Thank you so much for making this awesome and inspiring content available.
How did i not find this channel sooner? Excellent!
The Beethoven soundtrack is good
Great work and very informative. Thank you
Thanks for putting the effort to share!
Fantastic! My mind is totally boggled.
I know the thought of seeing the milky way from outside of the disk is a bit of an irrational wish on my part, but I can't stop myself from imagining the overwhelming beauty such a view would bring. It is sad to think that we will not be able to see it. I understand that it would be very similar to the other spirals in the universe, but there is just something about knowing that you're looking at _our own_ little island of stars moving silently through the void.
it will be quite a spectacle but the thing about the feeble minds of humans, we get bored easily. even if the orion clusters is next to the moon, we will get use to it and move on to other things
@@orbitalpunch4711 I've noticed that people definitely take many things for granted, and are no longer amazed by things they see often as well. However there are still people that see the beauty of the universe in even seemingly "ordinary" things.
cosmos sci
I couldn’t agree more mate
18:47 "They call it dark matter because it does not interact in any way with the matter and electromagnetic energy we see with our instruments." Then you immediately contradict this by saying "Its only interaction is through gravity." So It DOES INTERACT.
I understand. By particles 'interacting' I mean that there would be some kind of energy exchange if they came into contact. But dark matter would pass right through normal matter without any energy exchange whatsoever. But you are correct in noting that the existence of dark matter in a space, bends the space just like normal matter. That bend will impact all matter that encounters it. It is a sort of interaction. Thanks for you note.
Stunningly beautiful. Amazingly interesting...much appreciation for your sharing with us Dr. Butler💥
This is jewel , both the Milky Way and the Document .
Thank you.
Thanks for the 9th symphony
I really enjoy your videos. Some unsolicited advice, to help improve, is to use a pop filter/pop screen between your mouth and microphone. This will remove the little clicks and smacking sounds and make it more pleasant for listeners. Especially those who listen with headphones/earbuds. Thank you for all of your efforts into producing these fantastic videos.
I'll give it a try. Thanks.
Absolutely fantastic , thank you
Wow, so crazy big! The voyager part about the photo of the Milky Way, blew my mind! had to go bad to make sure I heard that right! Wow some great videos very informative easy to understand, well done sir!

If I could give you an Oscar for your videos I certainly would. They are the very best and "light years" ahead of others. Thank you for such great images, animations and explanations.
Dave I’m loving your videos you are so accurate when it comes to the Milky Way I really look forward to seeing more your videos I can’t get enough of them the music the sound of your voice I find to be oddly satisfying I love you man keep up the good work
Good Mic and natural vocals,.
I can put David Butler on at night when me and my girlfriend go to sleep and with the black background of the night and David’s low hertz voice = peaceful, osmosis, good night of sleep!!! 🔙🔛🔝🔚
Excellent video of an enormous galaxy with a perfectly spoken explanation and easily understood.
11:20 whuuuuut 10,000,000 stars orbiting the galactic center within 1 light year radius???? wow
My head spun when you said that Orion spur is 2,000 ly deep. And I thought Mariana trench was messy..
A really great video. Very useful and informative. Superior narration, sir.
for a butler , you make VERY GOOD videos !! Enjoyed watching it
Awesome stuff … thanks for the great series … !
How far away ? We're in it. It's right here.
What i was thinking, but these days ya gotta take it with a grain of salt.
Yeah, you're right. Like saying how far away am I...from me. hehehe
Freedom Storm -- It’s the name of the series you know
Excellent sir . Thank you
Thoroughly enjoyed the video - loved the relaxed presentation. Wish I'd seen this when I was doing my certificate in astronomy - Thanks
Ah yes, the four infinity stones: Soul, Heart, Rosetta, and Crab
The galaxy is much too beautiful for that name.
I agree!
Thanks for this wonderful pictures

I got curious: why would someone give thumbs down for such a great video? Would they be terraplanists?
That's a flat earther
Because they're ignorant morons
