  • Cordell & Cordell Executive/Managing Partner, CEO Scott Trout and Atlanta divorce attorney Jill Massey explain the steps guys can take to make sure they are prepared for a temporary protective order hearing.
Orders of protection, or temporary protective orders (TPO), are orders used by the court to protect against a situation involving alleged domestic violence, harassment, stalking, or sexual assault. Since the order is temporary, it only applies while the divorce is pending and is typically terminated when the divorce is finalized.

If the ex-parte order of protection says that the alleged event occurred at 2pm, when it actually happened at 2am, would that be enough for the judge to dismiss it?

Quick question. If I have temporary custody in GA and had my child for the last year and half and the mother lives in Colorado. Gets my daughter for the holidays and filed a protection order on the same claim she filed in GA that was dismissed. Can Colorado legally proceed the case because GA has Jurisdiction? Or do I just show up and prove everything false and GA has Jurisdiction? We still have a custody case in GA. The TPO says Colorado holds Jurisdiction when I know the TPO is just what the mother said on it so Judge may assume Colorado has Jurisdiction.

If my wife has filed an emergency restraining order, is there a way I can still see my son?

Did 3044 stick in your case even though it was a temporary order?

Some women tell many lies on men because they want to leave for other reasons. I know of a case right now where the man was arrested for violating a protective order that he never knew was in place. Because the woman knew that she had that order on him, she provoked him, and when he reacted, she called the police. He got arrested and is in jail without bail awaiting trial. It is sad to see how men are often taken advantage of.

Actually, women commit domestic violence against men more often. The stigma of accusing a woman of domestic violence keeps most most men from filing charges or requesting a protective order. Society encourages and applauds women for being brave while men are discouraged and looked at as weak. Another “win” fir the modern day feminist movement. 🤦‍♂️

BEWARE! This firm is a criminal organization specializing in duping men. My attorney misrepresented me, lied, and ultimately withdrew weeks before trial. They released the attorney and took zero accountability for the failure. Good luck!
