Dude… loved that! Haha. The kid doesn’t take any crap and he meets everyone head on. How can you not respect that. This is professional sports, every single one of these guys are somewhat cocky. You have to think you’re the best to beat the best. There’s a fine line between being confident/showing up with your chest pushed out and being a cocky little jerk. Haiden doesn’t strike me like the jerk. He’s a full on competitor and I love to see it. Guys get too worried these days to say anything that would spark controversy. Lame.

The best part is that later we can see them talking and laughing with each other while Tom is speaking. They are buddies and I think that is cool. Though Levi needs to be careful with how honest he is. Saying that Haiden might have gotten around him if the track marker didn't get stuck in his boot, is just going to give Haiden that confidence that he needs even more. But love that they are both just kids having fun and being friends.
Living here in California that's the kind of personality that I can relate with asking kitchen how he felt about the off track I bet Mitch didn't like that the same way Haden didn't like the protest from him calling his win unofficial during the press conference doesn't matter now because it's official now

tbf, we knew that much back in February. RJ has speed as well. possibly savatchey and (late in the year) shimoda. very deep class for sure. definitely looking forward to it.

250 class has been the class to watch the last couple years. These guys are so good to watch and they have more personality that they bring to every round. You couldn’t have a more 3 different people up there. Awesome!
The fact that all three of them sat up there and said they know what to do if they go off track, but don’t know whether they will be penalized or not is the bigger issue… there needs to be some consistency from the AMA.

I agree if you don't gain position it shouldn't be a penalty. But I can see not looking back, he could have taken another rider out.
Just retract Toms penalty and the issue is solved. Until there are clearer cut rules like gaining position no penalties should be put on riders. Haiden didn't gain track position and didn't increase his lead so he shouldn't be penalized. Protesting this is just trying to cheat a guy out of winning. Passing riders while you are off track is the only reason to penalize. Haiden was penalized before when he followed guys off track and thy didn't get penalized.
yeah. I didn't think Vialle's was bad. I think the looking back thing might've been the only realistic difference.
Deegan accelerated in that case that time. The others didn't.
Hayden jumped the dragon back from off the track and tom doubled back on from a roller, both on the throttle, both the same thing to me it’s clean cut. Either dock both or non can’t have split rules, what is clear is Mike Pelletier is a weasel

EVERYONE is forgetting when AMA (aka FMA) Penalized HD for ghost riding his bike but did NOT penalized Jett for ghost riding.

Added edit... last year there was a controversial red flag restart where Deegan ended up winning because of the restart
I commented on Instagram that the restart made our sport appear like the WWE
Davy Coombs sent me a DM on Instagram telling me to 'shut my fucking mouth'
Then he went onto tell me that his dad did more for the sport than my dad did and that he is more important to the sport than I am and then if I don't shut my mouth he will make it so that I can't enjoy the sport anymore
I responded By telling him that he had a big mouth and he would never be willing to say any of that to my face because unlike him I'm a grown ass man who wasn't coddled and raised to be entitled
That and Birmingham supercross when they only penalized deegan when 3 others went off track as well. There is no favoritism for deegan. It’s a farce.
you mean when jett stepped off his bike at iron man and it fell over on its side 10' later? that's a lot different from ghosting off a jump. not that I recall haiden doing much at the Colosseum either (a baby roller after the finish line?). Brian's stunt back in the day was something worth penalizing.

If you actually look at the rulebook and you watch both Tom and Hayden
Both should've been penalized
Hayden should've been penalized in both Motos
If they were going to stick to the rulebook and apply equally
It doesn't matter to me that it was Deegan
It could've been anybody else anybody goes off the track and cracks the throttle should be penalized that's the way the rulebook states it
But they did contortion their mind and a reason why Deegan got to do it twice with no repercussions

Funny how people seemed to not care when deegan was the only one penalized in Birmingham supercross for doing what 3 others did at the exact same time that night. 🤔 The moto gods(ama) repaid deegan back for it. Deegan went 1-1. Move on.
Same people were proud of the ama for doing a full restart when deegan had a 10+second lead and the race was almost half over. Ama is doing a shit job of favoring deegan when both those races had huge impacts on his standing.
I think this years press conferences will look like re-runs with these 3 guys on the podium every week.

Bad ass racing today deegs and Levi are clearly ones to beat out of the racers today RJ and mackadoo weren’t out there though and them 2 always threat to win too
Not so much in outdoors they aren't. RJ can put some speed down but will override to keep up the pace if he isn't out front managing. McAdoo when he has been healthy hasn't really run up front.

@DRK_KNT13 kitchen and Deegan gapped 3rd place by over 30 secs in both races. I think it's safe to say those 2 were in a league of there own in this race. No one even came close to either of them.

I didn't see Haiden gain any spots or accelerate when he pulled off..m I saw Tom accelerate and get to bypass a not so flat section possibly advancing distance.
Deegan is a monster on this track. I mean after all he grew up 20 minutes down the road from it. Like I said before The General made #38 famous but Haiden will make it Legendary. Don't get mad at Haiden all he did was race his race. Get mad at the officials for not doing their jobs correctly. In other words DON'T HATE THE PLAYER,HATE THE GAME!!!

Deegan looked back and then entered the track at a safe speed... Vialle did not look back before re entering and that's unsafe regardless of speed.
Tom was WFO when he was off track, Haiden lost time on Levi when he was off track. Tom deserved the penalty, Haiden on the other hand don't deserve a penalty
I really enjoyed hearing the riders thoughts on some technical stuff like tire selection on different kinds of tracks

How come Jase gets all the questions. It would be good to hear more from some other people like Johny Hopper or Cooksey , or anyone else with some intelligent questions. Having said that, credit to Jase for asking intelligent questions.

The rule specifics may be gray, but it seems to me that Deegan and Vialle should be treated equally, as both of their off-track excursions seemed very, very similar. That being said, dudes, you have to look over your shoulder, back on the track before re-entering the race.
Regarding the scoop tires, yes they are better for most of the starts, but actually make for more sketchy (not as safe) racing on the rest of the track. I agree that it's something the AMA, along with the race teams and riders should look into/discuss.

Gypsy asks the questions that get the guys to bring their honest opinions. It’s more in-depth. Some of these journalists simply ask questions like “how did you feel?” “What was it like?” You can’t ask vague general questions like that. Have to give the riders a real avenue to elaborate.

It sound like the determining factor is whether the rider gained time, with Tom gaining a few tenths but Deegan not gaining anything. This seems to be the case if you look at the replays. One can disagree with the rule, but it appears to have been applied correctly. If I'm a manager, I would definitely remind my riders to slow down a bit if they're off track, especially if they're cutting off distance or skipping an obstacle, to avoid gaining any time. Should be a great summer of racing with these three, plus Hampshire once he returns!

In the '80s AMA armature MX racing we had to reenter the track where we left it. My memory is poor, but I'm pretty sure that was the rule. That being said, what is the rider supposed to do on a track like this?

Tom didn’t look back when he returned to the track and didn’t let off . Deegan let off and looked back . Pretty simple
Vialle literally jumped off the side of the jump back onto that track, he had it held wide open.

The most openness I’ve ever seen in a post presser. Even the quiet guy, Tom popped to share his opinion when it wast asked for.
I loved these guys expressing their opinion on AMA off track penalties. I think they tend to look at them from the perspective of, if I’m not gaining an advantage, I should be okay.
They need to look at it from the AMAs position. That is first and foremost, were they racing off track?
Tom clearly was. Haiden didn’t appear to be. It was a minute difference in speed, but those off track areas are for track officials and workers. Their safety comes first.
I'm confused. I thought Tom got the penalty from when he went off the track in the roller section just in front of Deegan. Did I miss another spot that he went off the track in that first moto?

But he did not throttle off, so he still gained. Rule is you have to throttle off. Should have been penalised, no different to Vialle.

AMA penalized Tom because at the end of the day either way he’s still 3rd. This is done in a lot of racing it’s an easy way to warn everyone without messing with race results causing bigger issues. Deegan had many of the same penalties in his first year.
Except in motocross points are paid per moto and not just your overall finish. Sure Vialle still finished 3rd overall with a 4-3 but he finished with 2 less points. A 3-3 gives you 40 points and a 4-3 gives you 38 points. If at the end of the championship Vialle loses it by 2 points then the penalty would have costed him a championship.

Enough with the tire question. Everyone is on the same playing field if there was a long term advantage over different tire they wouldn't run the scoop. The truth is even if the scoop is the worst to have it's still going to have to finish the race faster. If it was closer then that risk would be taken as in only get 5th or 7th in the start but with hard pack tires you can easily pass Everyone else.
The subjective nature of what happens to guys after they go off the track has to be fixed, something objective, like Tom said, if you don't pass anyone or really gain time who cares...I'm not saying that's the answer but it needs fixed for sure
Wow, the AMA is so blatant in it's favoritism and or is inept, Deegan did it twice, and at minimum should have been warned given Vialles penalty, then does it again. The 1st time track worker easily could have been hit, not saying his fault, but that he was there/ visible.
