I'm only starting with caxixis so I don't know much about technique, but I'm a 52 yo. Brazilian and I've never seen that reverse stroke. That opens up for a lot of possibilities!

I was looking to find some percussion instruments for our small Praise and Worship events. Then I saw your videos. Awesome! I love how you introduce a lot of these not well know (at least by me) instruments as well. I'm definitely gonna try to get me hands on these Caxixi.

I know caxixi only from Capoeira in which it's an "assisting" instrument while playing the Berimbau. You opened up a world to me with the double caxixi sequence!!

Hi Kalani - I just started watching your channel and getting into percussion. I wanted to try some shaker stuff so I grabbed a small mason jar and put some rice in it. You can actually play it just like a caxixi!
Haha, when I made my early DIY shakers, I didn't know I made I caxixi 😆😆, out of a can but the bottom was a solid tape. Ooh, this is awesome!!!!!
