Haha you're right, I totally loved the 10 berth when I lived there during my first time on board 4 years ago! But I also loved sharing a 4 berth with just one roommate, and I think the 2 berth system on the GLM is so much nicer!
Hi Carys, Thanks for the video! Wow, I can hardly believe it's been almost six years since we came across your early AFM videos on CZcams in 2017. I had mentioned to you back then that our daughter was studying to become a nurse. She graduated with her BSN in 2019 and has since worked in a hospital for 3+ years, mostly with adult PCU, but now in a PICU. She had applied to MS about a year ago, but at that time, it seemed that they did not need more nurses. She is still interested in possibly serving with MS, so a couple questions: - The last I heard, the AFM was back doing surgeries in Dakar, and the GLM later arrived, but not yet doing surgeries yet. What is the current status? Are they both doing surgeries now? Is the GLM needing nurses? With two ships, you would think there'd be a greater need for nurses - or maybe they're taking the AFM out of service for a while? Enjoy your time there, Thanks much, John :)
Hi John, you guessed right, the AFM will be out of service for awhile in Durban, RSA. I would guess that we are fully staffed for nurses here on the Global Mercy in Dakar, but quite possibly recruitment is going on for Sierra Leone where we will be next. Do reach out to the medical recruiting folks n our Texas office as they will have all the up to date details on where we stand.
